Learned my lesson in trying to play all Open Beta and Early access. 1017'ed for hours on end.

All we can do is work with what SE gives us.

Now I've been logged in Since Thursday night, come at me bro.

Exactly! They certainly ARE NOT missing much when their character is just standing there. I tell this to the children in my class during naptime (I work at a daycare), "go to sleep, you are not going to miss anything!" Seriously, get off the game and do something else besides hogging server space! I even have the decency to get what I want done on the game, finish it, then log off. Right now I want to log on to do something, but can't because people have their characters AFK. I logged on earlier today just to play a little bit before studying for my class. I got what I wanted done, then got off, studied and did gardening before it rained, then relaxed (took a nap), and wanted to get on the game before I started to study again.

The whole situation is SE's fault, and people need to stop blaming the players. I am trying to log in now, and have been literally for 4 straight hours, with less than a few seconds between each attempt (have had pretty much every error there is). I don't blame the people for not logging, because that 4 hours could be that person's playtime for the day. If it wasn't a weekend, I would be more upset, but it's still SE fault for not having a time-out system.

It's getting worse, too. I think it's at the point now where there are so many people unwilling to log-off, that servers are letting in no more than a couple people ever few minutes (which is incredibly slow). Again though, only way for it to be fixed (temporarily) is for everyone to log off, which isn't going to happen. So I can understand someone thinking that "well, if I'm the only one logging off, that's not gonna help anyone, and it will just mean I won't be able to log on and play later."

I've got a legacy character but I log out dutifully after I'm done to give other people a shot. I'm not sick (re:addicted) enough to care if I can't log on and play so I give other people an opportunity by freeing up a slot. If I can't get in it's no sweat off my back. I'll go do something else.

Hope some of you guys manage to get by the issues.

I've got a legacy character but I log out dutifully after I'm done to give other people a shot. I'm not sick (re:addicted) enough to care if I can't log on and play so I give other people an opportunity by freeing up a slot. If I can't get in it's no sweat off my back. I'll go do something else.

The responsibility for that lies with precisely one entity - Square Enix. I'm sorry if my "selfishness" offends you, but guess what? I don't know you, don't care about you, and don't have the slightest bit of vested interest in your well-being and happiness. And in any case, you telling me I should log out when I'm not playing is no different than me staying logged in - either way, one of us isn't gonna be able to play when we want to, because if you really think the 1017 issues and character list crashes are going to go away just because people start logging out, you're fooling yourself. This crap has been going on long before the perma-online trend started.
