I sort of agree with you.
In my opinion, there should be at least both.
The extra days are necessary to make up for the days lost due to not being able to play and the free server transfers are an absolute necessity to fix the server congestion issues.
Adding a bunch of new servers will not fix the populations on the servers that already exist if people are not able to migrate from the servers they are currently on to the new ones. I really hope that something is said soon regarding this issue.

Based on SE history (FFXI server increase), there will be a period of free and voluntary transfers in order to populate the new servers starting next week. Not sure why people would think otherwise.

I'm sure there are other players out there besides myself that had applied for world transfer pre-phase 4 beta for their legacy characters. But when I signed on phase 4 I was on a completely different server (off the one I wanted to get off, but not on the one I wanted to transfer to lol). I have contacted them about it and they gave me a generic response, which is fine. But for the players like myself who got thrown on random servers for whatever reason, I do hope that there in fact will be a period of time where we can transfer for free. That's the only thing I ask

A free transfer is the only way that this mess up can be properly rectified. I have a large group of friends who cannot even play on my server becuz its been locked out since Phase 4 started. Yes a few more servers are a good thing, but how do you expect people to get to them? No one is going to want to have to level everything all over again, and they are not going to pay for something that they shouldn't have to. I miss back in FFXI when you had to buy a world pass in order for someone to come play on your realm. Lets re-institute that feature. This way no matter what the condition players can get their friends on the right server, sure queue times can be bad but its better than them not even being able to create a character.

Nope. Despite the issues getting on I'm happy where I am. I knew there would be issues when I sign up for a legacy sever but I wanted to play with a specific Free Company. Can't do that on another sever.
