    Actually it is even more sad how bad the most DDs are.
    They can't even count, what is so difficult to attack #1 first and then #2 but for most of the BRDs and DRGs thats to difficult.
    And all those BLMs that don't understand why they got the spell sleep and that they have single target spells....

    Grouping is a "group" activity. Yes, there are some that are just horrible and don't care. There are some that will get offended if you make suggestions, but that goes for all classes. If you're group is sucking, make sure you're doing your job and give constructive suggestions for better strategy.

    I thought about making a tank. I always play healer as my main, but usually go to tank at some point. After seeing the abuse some tanks I've grouped with get, even when I can SEE it is a problem with the dps and their behavior, I really don't want to. I take enough abuse as a healer from those same people that can't seem to control their own aggro, which is part of the job of dps.

    Blessings,
    Melina

    I posted this is another thread , but it seems to have been deleted so I'll post it again. Yesterday I was in dungeon with a healer who seemed fine, but after we wiped once on the last boss got really nasty. This was after a quick and painless run. It came out of nowhere, all because I did the boss the way I always do and apparently his strategy was the only way to do it. I'd say we wiped because one of our dps (a friend from my FC) dc'ed. But, I did the same dungeon last night this time with my husband healing, brother in law on THM and a random LNC from the Duty finder. Funny, my brother in law was having issues and dc'ed right before the last boss...so again, we were missing a dps. We beat him effortlessly in less time than it took to wipe in my party from earlier. After that run, I found out what the problem was...Everyone...Really, everyone was at fault. But of course as the tank, I have to take all the insults (of course this isn't always the case).

    I think this type of situation is why there's always a shortage of tanks. People get really insulting, and they either decide to go dps, or only tank for their friends and FC. I know I'm going to stay away from DF.

    Are we even playing the same game? I've played with nothing but nice groups of people during dungeon runs. The only time I've had someone terrible in my group is my first ever dungeon ( was an archer that kept running ahead of the tank and not communicating >.>), that obviously being in Sastasha which was during phase 4. Guess I'm one of the lucky few lol. So far I'm loving the in game community.

    I don't know what all the fuss is about. This is just a game, right?

    I wiped once by a trash in Satasha and we cleared the boss first try afterward. We hardly talked except when I wiped, the healer said "I could have raised u". Everyone seems nice and bid farewell before exiting..

    I've noticed the shortage in tanks also when I run anything other than my own. I've encountered some bad ones, but I don't get why shouting and flinging insults at them seems to be the productive way to go.

    Just last night I did a run with a GLD, the RNG was running ahead and pulling. No one was focusing on a single target, and the GLD wasn't using flash at all. Instead of yelling at them I just said hold up. Politely asked the tank why he's not using flash and so on.

    Spending just a couple minutes discussing the game mechanics early on can make a potential bad tank now a damn good one later on. So far it's been pretty receptive. I'm still amazed at the number of members I find that haven't discovered how the aggro meters work (or that they were even there).

    Now, when I screw up, I'll always blame it on a FC/LS member that's with my group. That or there's a rabid ferret that attacked me. >.>

    Something that many DPS may not notice, although I guarantee that Healers do, is that the damage in Brayflox is exponentially higher than in the dungeons prior. My first run though it I was shocked that my heath went down so fast and that I actually lost hate because my healer had to use Cure II. At the same time, Brayflox is a great dungeon for you to learn how to improvise and that just running a certain rotation won't work.

    I think that might be a fault of the duty finder. It helps you get a quick party, but at least I always work better with people I know rather than randoms. A lot depends on synergy and knowing your teammates. Because of that, I almost always party with the same FC people now because we work so well together.

    I think my biggest problem with tanking has to be that there isn't much of a science to understand it by.

    If I knew exactly how much enmity my abilities were generating, optimizing a rotation would be much easier.

    Savage Blade = 3.00 Enmity Multiplier
    Rage of Halone = 5.00 Enmity Multiplier
    Shield Lob = 3.00 Enmity Multiplier
    Shield Oath = 2.00 Enmity Multiplier
    Flash = (Weapon DMG*X)+(Strength*Y)+(Determination*Z) = Enmity

    Putting aside Flash, which is a bit more complex for the emnity effect and I couldn't find anything more detailed than the above, the other ones are simply damage * multiplier. So if you do 100 damage with Rage of Halone that's 500 emnity for you there, which equals 500 damage from a dps or 1000 hp cured.
    Taken from a guide found in the Tank Roles subforum ;p

    Same for Marauder

    Skull Sunder = 3.00 Enmity Multiplier
    Butcher's Block = 5.00 Enmity Multiplier
    Overpower = 4.00 Enmity Multiplier
    Tomahawk = 3.00 Enmity Multiplier
