Final fantasy has tendencies to write it's lore from many cultures. I'm not too surprised to see them pull from a culture that is much more involved in the First world these days.

They had djinn in FFXI, those are from Arabic folklore. Also, Bahamut and Gilgamesh are both from Mesopotamian lore.

Well i wouldn't called it hard but demanding to tactics. Once party know tactics is stops being challenging at all. Real challenge is to luck out on people group finder will put you with.

Doesn't surprise me in the least. Final Fantasy has always borrowed names and creatures from various religious/mythological stories from around the world. I wouldn't be surprised if FF was the #1 Mythological Name-Dropping Franchise of All Time.

There have been references to other cultures/religions/ heritage in almost all Final Fantasy games and other RPG's too. For instance Aht Urhgan from FFXI had themes from the Middle East and from South Asia (India, for instance the provinces of Punjab and perhaps Rajasthan).

I agree though, it's really cool that they include such references! =) I think it makes the game a much better experience and allows for research outside the actual game too.

Just about everything in any Final Fantasy comes from real life mythology from Summons, Boss names, Places, Mobs and many more which is why I really enjoy FF series.
