It's not a modern medium, it's still fighting with DVD. Additionally the INSTALL disc is a DVD. Why split formats?

I'm not blaming anyone, I'm just curious if anyone has an idea of why you'd bother putting it on bluray when a large amount of users will not have it. I went to Insomnia (A lan festival, well over 2000 PCs) the other day and I saw very very few Blu Ray drives.

They clearly understood this for install: It's a DVD.

The Cassette comparison isn't right, cassettes are no longer made (Not for releases anyway) DVDs are still made and used by the truckload.

You're wrong about it not being the new modern medium. Blu-ray's are 100x's more scratch resistant than DVD's due to the hard coating tech they were designed with. All blu-ray's are this way! It was apart of the RFC/standard. They also hold way more data than a DVD. For these two reasons DVD's will go the way of cassette tapes soon.

Blu-ray and DVD were locked in a battle years ago. The industry is accepting blu-ray's to be superior and there's honestly no reason not to accept this. Almost everyone I know has a blu-ray player of some kind, even if it's a PS3.

My two gaming laptops came with blu-ray players built in....

    No, it's not.

Anyone who is serious about watching movies and cares even a little bit about quality uses bluray.
