Oddly I'm not seeing Virgin Media customers with this problem and AFAIK VM also use P2P throttling.

When did you sign up? and how long did it take for the disallowing of traffic to stop? Reason i ask is i signed up to unlimited infinity last Friday...... and nothings changed yet....Bump, although my issue is resolved.
BT Tech Support are absolute pants. I'm a Software Developer and worked in IT before moving to my current field, so believe me when I say they obviously believe IP means loaf of bread, computers are made of dog and Perl is a real programming language.
Anyway, I signed a new contract with them for the exact same package, but it meant the terms were updated to disallow traffic shaping at any time. Same broadband deal, no traffic shaping, got £6 a month off my bill (how the hell does that work?). It did take them 3 days to sort out the new package, but at least it's fine for me now. I'd really recommend you renew your contract, unless you are nearing the end of your current one; in which case you should go with someone else.
I expect you have a newer BT contract which promises no throttling? If not, perhaps you are playing on JPN server? I'm not sure why but the issue is much less severe for me on Kujata than Phoenix, Moogle and Odin.
Edit: I'm Orange (EE) so no non-traffic shaping plans to upgrade to. Also as I'm in rural area I'm not sure if I can get the BT's no-throttling plan. I have a neighbor with BT and the wireless router provided is terrible! I get consistent 6 mbps while they suffer terrible speed drops all the time. I'm sure this is down to poor wireless capability of the router. I would consider switching back to Sky as they've been good in the past, but as I'm in a rural area now I'm not sure what the service would be like. Ideally I can stick with EE and this will be resolved sometime soon.

And to whoever posted a few pages back saying that BT and EE were the only options in his area, sorry, but without even knowing your area I can tell you that's not the case. If you can get a BT phoneline (and you obviously have), then you're able to use *ANY* UK ISP for your ADSL connection. It might use a BT line, but it doesn't have to use BT as an ISP. BT (the ISP) is the one doing the traffic shaping, another ISP will have different policies (and tariffs/pricing).
It was not me that posted about it but I think I know what he means as I live in an area like that, we can get other ISP however when I changed to BT there were no other ISP that would offer unlimited downloads they were all capped at like 10GB and with having 5 people in the house that regularly use the internet to stream TV, download stuff and so on 10GB is not really worth it.
I know it is not necessarily SE fault however they should be able to work it out with the likes of BT and so on. I know it could be sorted by phoning to upgrade the contract but why should we have to.
Oh goody... at 5 minutes past 7 it's all stop-start again, seriously this is ridiculous, it's bad enough that other people can't log-in but to those that are BT feel the need to ruin the experience for everyone after 7pm!
Sending BT a snotty email as I speak.

You should put in a link to this forum as well so they know there are more affected.
I apologise for misunderstanding the reasons then, I had not considered that!
So my options at this point are either regrade my broadband, putting me back into a 12 month billing cycle but will remove this "p2p" cap, or sit on my arse and wait for SE to make a phonecall. Well, I guess I'm going to return my game (thank god for amazon.com's returns department) and buy it once I know the restrictions are gone.

So is there any chance we can have some time comped to our accounts because the game is basically unplayable when I get home from work?
