I have been angry and dissapointed by the series of problems leading up to release. It has seemed at times almost every action the company has made in the past weeks has been with flaws - from typing errors in emails, to account issues preventing registration, to log in issues. Also phase 4 was shortened from the initially planned 2 weeks to a few days, and despite issues in the Phase 4 beta test the company made the decision to push on with release regardless. Naturally, when we are asked to start paying under these conditions I felt more could have been done to make sure everything went smoothly for customers. After placing my faith and money in the promises of Yoshi-P to ensure he wouldn't let the game go live with problems, I could not help but feel a little betrayed by the eagerness to start official service and lack of attention / caution in these final testing stages.

That said, I do feel sincerely sorry for Yoshi-P after hearing of his emotional apology in the recent live event. Clearly he's passionate about the game and I'm sure the whole team would have loved more time to get everything just right. I wonder if delaying launch further was not a financially viable option for the company, and if so I wish they could have been more open about this instead of feigning confidence in the launch.

While I hope many lessons have been learned in the last couple of weeks, I sincerely feel grateful for the development team for their efforts and want to express my full support going forward. While it's important players can voice their disapproval when standards are not met (and that has happened), I hope we can move forward with a positive and supportive attitude for all the passionate souls on the FFXIV:ARR team.

Come on FFIXV:ARR team, we still love you <3

I think the issue isn't the problem's with the servers. It's the seeming lack of a plan to solve them.

Here's a suggested plan of action:
    1. Begin the process of setting up an EU data center and let us know it's underway, but will take some time.
    2. Tag some of the low pop JP servers as overflow for the NA cluster, add (OV) to their name. Recommend people create characters there in the meantime.
    3. When the new data center is up and running offer a free transfer period to everyone, as they have done before. This will also allow people to join their friends and family if they were locked out at launch.

An apology is nice, but with it should come a plan of action to address the capacity problems. Maybe there is such a plan, I don't know. For myself I've created a new character on a JP server and I can play with zero problems. I've had to abandon my legacy character for the present to do that.

I've been as frustrated as anyone with the problems affecting EU/NA datacentres, but the reactions of some forum users have been absolutely bloody disgraceful. I'd like to thank Yoshida Naoki for all the work he and his team have put in.

All those "plans" don't take in account consequences.

1: so that we'll get even more problems due to just another new datacenter that will have a harsh startup, like all datacenters.
2: it just causes confusion, and people that play with lag get to think that the game is worse than it is.
3: so that everyone tries to get to the most populated servers as soon as transfers are available, leaving a number of massively overpopulated servers with other servers that are ghost towns.

This course of action is the most effective in the long run. it's a good thing that they didn't budge to short sighted demands. What they're doing ensures that past the launch rush servers will have a reasonably balanced population and won't become ghost towns as it happens to every other MMO where the developers cave to pressure and add servers without looking at long term.

I hope that those that riled and hated on Yoshida-san, and three years of hard work due to two days of problems now feel shittier about it. Looking inside oneself and feeling sad because one has behaved like a hateful dolt is often a learning experience.

Yoshi-p was around in Tonberry during Phase 3 of the beta test, and more than a legion of testers was mobbing him. Most of them were JPs, but I managed to get a few shouts to him and he actually responded to my shouts.

This man, as well as his team of devs, held their heads high through ver 1.2+ onwards, creating new content and changing the UIs on the go. And now ARR is finally launched, they should take a break, but no! These guys are still fixing all the problems and such. While we have threads nitpicking things they don't like?

Hey to all the naysayers, you don't like this game, don't play it. You only paid USD79.99 max for a game (PS3 CE). Come on, it's peanuts.

This is not a your world.
This is a world create by the team in SE, and you pay them, albeit they renting Eorzea to you to immerse in. Not the other way round.
If you can come up with a better game, go ahead. Don't go around taking away peoples' credit and hard work.

I was sniffling up watching the guy. Before it was translated for me I almost thought he was announcing his resignation.

I'm so, so glad that wasn't the case.

We as a community were privileged to be connected to and apart of the development process of this game. Now that 2.0 is out and launched, I'm glad 1.0 failed as hard as it did. I'd never have gotten to know a guy as cool as Yoshi-P otherwise.

I kind of worried about that myself when he turned around and started tearing. I was really panicking for a moment.

And yes, the failure of Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 was a blessing in disguise for the Final Fantasy series.

No one would have EVER imagined to have community forums before, for instance.

Some people are jerks, what else is there to say?

    Yoshi-p is a god!

And where is the translation of it all?

I don't consider myself a S.E. fanboy, but I really feel for this guy. I have played and enjoyed other Final Fantasy games. When I was able to log on to XIV ARR I really enjoyed the game. It was a bit frustrated at times, but I do believe they will eventually sort out all the problems. I'm glad I didn't over react to E.A. Issues. So I have two questions. Is there anyplace that has this speech video with an English translation (subtitles)? Why is it titled his "last" speech? I hope they mean last speech of the event. I have faith seeing how much Yoshi cares about the game. I bought C.E. and I will be subscribing.

Or maybe people just disagreed with said "citicism" (most often expressed with tones and rudeness that bordered on the insane) and just expressed that. When one suggests something completely silly in a forum, he should expect his "opinion" to be criticized, especially if he isn't able to express said "opinion" in a civil way, like a very large percentage of those that have made a point on thinking they know so much better than the development team on how to make a good game.
