And bad mmo launches are law until someone becomes the mmo god and can forsee all technical, system, equipment and programming glitches that the simultaneous push of 1000s of players at the same time can have. I have yet to find that person...

And so far i have been able to make it in enough to get my chocobo, get to 15 on both subclasses and 24 on my main. not where i wanted to be because of the lockouts (was hoping for 30 by now) but still good enough... chill out its not like you paid an extra 10 bucks to play for the extra few days before launch. its not money out of your pocket and the more thats fixed now the less we will hopefully have to deal with later... like when we are actually raiding...

Also considering the ONLY major problem i have come across has been server related that actually makes me more excited about this game. i havent had pet pathing issues, abilities that are useless / not working, haven't fallen through the world, been stuck, etc. once servers stabilize this games looking like an amazing start so far.

I have to agree, this game has a lot of potential, they seemed to have really done a good job the second time around.

Well usually I don't complain, but today I'm in that mood. Paying or not, if your happy with the current situation, create a positive thread in support to SE.

Let us do the dirty job of complaining, to remind the commercial service that they should improve. It arms no one, and prevent newgamers form purchasing the game now without having a realistic view of the actual situation You seem to forget, that new players don't have to be trashed because they haven't been desabused by some other games.

I know I will enjoy playing FFXIV smoothly later, but right now I would be lying If I'd say "great".

Umm, maybe you should take a look at the purchase screen where it says

EARLY ACCESS: Access the game servers ahead of the official launch. Get your head start and make your mark in the realm of Eorzea!"

Now, if you do NOT bet into the EA, would that not be false advertising?
Should it not says "Pre-Order Bonus Chanse
EARLY ACCESS: You have a random chanse at accessing the game servers ahead of the official launch. You get a chanse at head start and make your mark in the realm of Eorzea!"

Because it clearly states in the way it is expressed that everyone will be able to access EA, yet it is not so, clearly there is not room enough for everyone. So which is it?

One BIG BIG problem, there is a saying thats very well known to everyone. "You only get one chanse at a first impression" and tbh my first impression of the new FFXIV is that servers (the key to everything) just is not there and its not being maintained in a proper manner and thus I have no wish to spend the next 30-60-90 days while SE blatantly does not support the servers in EU as well as the Japanese servers"

Maybe if it was free while they figure it out, but I am not paying monthly subscriptions unless I am absolutely sure I get my moneys worth. There is just to many MMO's out there that is free and doing better.
Only reason I give FFXIV another chanse is because it is Final Fantasy, otherwise I would not even look at it against after the failing of the 1.0

Neither have I, I have no such issue either. Then again I have not had ANY since I can't play, so yaaaaay

Look on the positive side...They have made a fantastic game and although we are having some problems that isn't going to change.
These problems will be fixed because it's in SE's best interest to do so. Even if they care more about money than us (Money is extremely important to any company) it just means they really want to fix these problems.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to vent your annoyance (although do we really need so many threads in most sections saying the exact same things?), but you do also need to have some patience and understanding or you'll drive yourself crazy. ^_^

MMO launches have to be one of the hardest things to predict for a company. How do you know how many people will be loading your servers on launch day? Betas only give you a good "feel", because launch day will always be different. They have to make a reasonable estimate without over estimating and wasting resources.

In most projects, a budget is set at the beginning of the project. So when the project is done and you realize "Oh crap there's more people than we thought", its not as simple as buying more servers, because you might have to request more money, and you might go over budget.

Sure you can plan ahead and reserve resources on the side, but to what extent? If you reserve too much, your boss will chew your ass out saying "Why did you take all this money that I could've used for xxx project?!".

Add in the fact that they're trying to run this from across the Pacific Ocean the difficulty just multiplies.
