An issue comes to mind when leveling is quick and short, which is the issue of equipment.
When the time it takes to level from 1 to 50 is shorter than the effort it takes to HQ+ and meld all the materia for said low and mid range gears, it devalues the crafter's purpose.

I remember in another mmo, where I've invested in an expensive level 1 item with major enhancements for it, because it would shave time off leveling up for multiple classes.
However, in FFXIV:ARR I wouldn't spend a gil on any level 1-40 top line equipment at all, because the time it saves for leveling up is negligible.

The time it takes for the market to collapse for low and mid range gear will be in aspect to how fast leveling becomes. Simply because there isn't going to be a demand for it.
The current minor work around to that is level-cap content along with gimps on scaled down equipments. Although, I don't think the scaled down is high enough to discourage players from using high level gears yet.

This makes me sad for all the time I spent in levelling my crafts to 50. I could have skipped it and waited till now, and do it all in hours instead of months. But c'est la vie.

Looking at today, the sad part now is that being a level 50 crafter is no longer something special. Almost anyone can easily obtain it, therefore there is no distinction. With only a modicum of effort, all can be level 50 in almost everything. What is there to set us out above the rest? Where is the need for a community to reach crafters, if one can easily be self-sufficient?

But level 50 is not the end. Perhaps the first 50 are meant to be easy, and it is the next 25 or 50 that will be hard. Perhaps there will be specializations, and xp curves that make doing all impossible or terribly challenging.

Until we know the future plans, it is hard to justify the present system. In the mean time: I find the new crafting interface much better, and I hope others find happyness and enjoyment in using it.

The game rushes you to 50

It was an exaggeration, but really if lvling 1-50 in every class could be done in 1-2 months do you really think that grinding raids at 50 would last forever? I don't see why SE had to bother wasting time creating 1-50 content. I only had to ran 1 time each dungeon to fulfill hunting log and quest needs, doesn't even need to lot gear if it will only be worthy for next 3-5 levels if I will do it in 2 h. I will play till I feel satisfied and that at this pace will happen in 2 months, may come back later after every patch but that is all

And taking my time? how? I didn't rushed, I just did step by step the way the game lead me and I was already lvl 15 with a mix of gear lvl 5, 8 and 12 (weapon) in 5 hours! ppl that rushed was already lvl 20 by that time. I am not a hardcore player, always played trying to feel the lvl seeking the best gear every 4-5 lvls but this game rushes you to lvl 50, didn't have the time to check AH either (those wards...), I can go on but no point doing so here.

IF this is true, it makes me seriously disappointed as I really enjoy the experience of leveling and putting some real effort into my classes. ESPECIALLY crafting ones. imo not everyone should max out crafting. it should take dedication and hard work to do so. If everyone and their mother is 50 everything, there's really no point in it.
"Why should I have someone else craft this for me when I can just do it myself"

In my opinion having a max level crafting job should be an accomplishment! Damn this instant gratification BS that's such a trend in MMO's nowadays!

I'll admit that at the start of 1.0, when leveling crafting took AGES to get anywhere, that was a bit much... but I'd say that near the end of 1.0 that was a more decent rate of leveling. maybe even a little too fast to be honest.

Ugh.. no... this just makes me upset... "instant" 50's... high level gear crafting being very inferior to most (if not all) "dungeon" drops...
Crafting is losing it's purpose... ._.

/shrug Making it take longer wouldn't exactly make it any more fun. (I realize that some people DO enjoy grinding though so to each their own) It's not like you can hit a button and have it auto-craft you to level cap like in some MMOs (well you can do bulk crafting but that halves your exp), it still requires some effort if you want to level multiple crafting classes and plenty of people won't want to put in the work to get it done so I don't see why there won't be people relying on crafters for melding and at least entry level gear at endgame. Leveling gear might not be all that valuable since you really can get what you need from quests and dungeons but still there are those that just grind hunting logs and FATEs and might want to purchase upgrades on the Market Boards every few levels or so. 40 to 50 in 12 hours (if you add in 1-40 as well) and then do that for every crafting class there is it'll still take you a fair amount of time to get them all up there and that's just for dedicated crafters. Plenty of people like to level crafting along with their battle classes/jobs and it'll take longer if you're not 100% committed to getting it done as soon as possible.

It isn't really a problem, it's nice to know that you'll have a chance to actually craft yourself gear. If it took forever you'd never use any of the gear you crafted, you'll likely have better via dungeons by the time your craft became useful.

It would be cool if they gave you an option to rename the gear/weapons you craft, like in Revenant Wings

After that I spent another 15 minutes making enough HQ amber electrum circlets to turn in tradecraft leves (100,000xp per turn-in) to 50. The entire experience was pretty gratifying, going from 48 to 50 in under 5 minutes.

The point? How do all of you feel about this? I will admit there is a twinge of sadness in the back of my head that it took me 2 months from 1-40 in 1.0 then 12 hours in 2.0 to reach the end. The accomplishment feels a bit shallow. But hey, I still did it! =P

    Your thoughts?
no problem here, but 2 months to get a craft from 1 to 40 in 1.0, are you sure ? cos it doesnt take me that long

you level to fast to need to buy equipment and its does not help the quest chains give you equipment.

only relic weapon base will sell & star equipment will sell a bit since you can just queue up for a dungeon and get gear for free thats better.

I don't mind the speed at what you level so much as how easy it is to HQ items now. (I suppose they are related, considering quality increases XP gain)

In a few months the only things on the MW will be HQ items, why would you want a standard version when the HQ is so easy to obtain ?

It won't be long before crafters get a nerf I'm sure.

One thing I will say though is I like the restriction on Control and Craftmanship on high level gear, this should be standard though on all recipes.
