Actually, some of World of Warcraft's ads were a lot worse than this ad is.

Maybe they should take a page from them and replace Bahamut with Chuck Norris and Lousouix with Bruce Lee, and make a story about how their epic battle birthed ARR, then all the cool kids will come play with us.

Air a commercial so bad that everyone talks about it and spreads news of the game!

I like the idea behind the commercial but they really should of focused more on gameplay like the JP commercials. Although wasn't the commercial aired on a channel that promotes a lot of cosplay stuff? Maybe that was their target audience in the first place so in that sense it's a good idea.

Either way, the vast majority of marketing for this stuff is word of mouth. I can't think of a TV commercial since I was like 10 years old that made me actually go out and get a product or service.

"Parallel Visions" is the best commercial and better yet use it with the original Japanese narrator.

Commercial go through demos and focus groups. This one apparently didn't.

Just use the voice of Tenzen from The Legend of Korra as the narrator and it'll be golden.

Both of these commercial incite anticipation and shows gameplay.

While the live action commercial just incite corniness and cheesiness.

Why do you think those commercials I posted link to have been announced in the NA blog, but not the live action one. That's because the guys in the NA office probably feel it is of poor quality that it doesn't deserve a mention.
