Has this actually been confirmed by SE or is this just OP's speculation? Seems like it would be more trouble then its worth to set the code where you could only play on one type of system.

where are you going to see these permanent options?
the account management page i go to no longer shows any options but when i registered my preorder for pc it listed all my permanent options and had a confirmation prompt to add mog hat and cait sith doll
same thing when i linked ps3 to my account
You see them when you actually register the code. I didn't take a screen shot. Unless someone actually does take a screen shot of registering the ps3 and pc code you will have to wait till release to see it.where are you going to see these permanent options?

When you added you ps3 permanent options to the same account you added your pc permanent options you should have seen something like "Final fantasy xiv A realm reborn PC preorder" mog hat and cait sith minion already in you previous options. When you look at the options you are adding you would see the same cait sith minion, mog hat and "final fantasy xiv a realm reborm ps3 preorder". I think those two preorder permanent options is our early access. And because they split them between consoles it makes sense for them to dependent on console. This makes sense because we already know if you were just in pc beta you could not log into the ps3 beta client without the ps3 beta permanent option, and we know if you just buy the ps3 the version and were not from 1.0, you cannot log into the pc version.
Since all legacy members have access to early access anyway, it is safe to say that the legacy option counts as the pc preorder permanent option so if a legacy player used a ps3 early access code, they already get to play on both consoles

So you're saying that if I redeemed my EA code from my ps3 order yet have my PC client updated (launcher update is ready today for those who haven't checked) and link my psn I'd to my SE account...I could participate in EA on either system?

This is so not true. SE has said plenty of times before that you can log on to whatever client you want as long as the software is installed and you have an account. Just because you registered the PS3 early access code, you'll still be able to log on the PC version if you have the client installed.
A thing is not clear for me: I will play from the PC, my friend will play on PS3... Can he create the character on the same server of mine and play together?
Soo there is no way to confirm you have done the pre order steps right or that it took. I have gotten no emails after doing my 20 digit code process. Cant create a new thread due to this lame message New thread cannot be created due to either you have reached to your daily limit or your main character's level is not high enough.
Do you have proof? Sure if you are legacy and use the preorder code for ps3 that makes sense. But for every the beta phase, for release they will split based on console. And that doesn't explain why there are two permanent options called "final fantasy xiv a realm reborn preorder" that is split between pc and ps3..This is so not true. Just because you registered the PS3 early access code, you'll still be able to log on the PC version if you have the client installed.
This is the impression i was given and is why i decided to pre-order the ps3 collectors edition instead of the PC version. This is so not true. Just because you registered the PS3 early access code, you'll still be able to log on the PC version if you have the client installed.
