I think the basic concept of "afk fishing" will make it less profitable for RMT(what does that stand for anyway?). Simply because it'll be so easy for people to get the basic fish on their own, that there will be fewer people buying them. If they keep the percentages really low on the rare stuff, it'll still leave a worthwhile window open for regular players.

I've said before that I like the "less stressful fishing", but there are times when yes, I'd like to do some regular fishing. for this I'd like to see them implement 2 kinds of rods. a regular dropline fishing rod and a fly fishing rod. while the dropline can be used the way they intended, the fly fishing rod could be used to have a more active fishing style with better rewards.

Well, Yoshi-P was a Lv50 Fisher using Lv1 bait, wearing full AF/CSE and probably in a low-level spot. It was bound to look quick and automatic, like synthing a Lv3 item with a Lv50 crafting job.

I won't pretend it's going to be as involved as that game of missile command or whatever it was from v1, but Yoshi-P did say "You won’t catch anything if you don’t have the right gear". And as we've heard already, "If you want to catch a rare fish, first you’ll need to catch the HQ fish you’ll use as bait, then use that fish for live bait. Otherwise you can’t catch the rare fish." As well as the simpler "There are fish you can only catch at night, or in good weather conditions, etc." The "minigame" is knowing the right fishing spots and knowing the class.

So it's not just simple drop in a line and pull out the fish you want.

exactly. People are over reading into the quotes. You have to remember that every response is chosen very carefully right now to avoid spoilers. Only 3 more days and we'll know a whole lot more on this subject.

It is my experience in Botany that you need the best gear/materia to reliably gather at the highest levels. and even then your chances of HQ are pretty low in comparison to say level 30 or 40.

"try to hook the fish and if successful" is a bit misleading. From the video it looks like the fish either bites or doesn't, and when it does you just press another button to reel it in. There's no fight anymore.

I was going off of certain information that was available temporarily and then removed. The "hook fish" skill tool tip indicated a chance of failure. You're right, though.. in the video it looks like there is no fighting the fish on the way in. I was only referring to the chance of failure with regard to hooking the fish.
