Thanks guys for the drawing application suggestions! These are the ones I noted down so far, will try to do some research on them this weekend:
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- PaintTool SAI
- GIMP
- Manga Studio
I also stopped by the store on the way home to give some of the tablets a try. I didn't get to spend too much time with them but I really really liked the Cintiq 13HD! *drool =D~* Too bad it's so expensive!
They also had the bigger 22HD and 24HD ones which were quite nice but were even more expensive and enormous in size! Like the pink blob I made?I don't know what application it was, but it had a really interesting rectangular "brush" that created big paint-like textures.
I think I probably wasn't supposed to make circles and squiggly lines on their FLET's campaign announcement, oh well
I also noticed some art magazines nearby which featured a bunch of beautiful drawings inside. It's amazing how talented these artists were:
Seeing all this stuff really gave me some motivation to give it a try! Hopefully I'll be able to put aside enough time to experiment and practice!

We need this to be an actual mount in game.
It goes heck o' slow and you can't even control but just imagine the possibilities...
The streets of Ul'dah would be SPOTLESS!
On the tablets thing, I use an old Wacom Intuos 3 that I've had for several years and had gotten like for $100 I think.
I haven't gone looking at tablets since then but in my experience the ones with screens are heck o' expensive. The cheaper ones do just fine but you have to learn to draw without looking at your hands. Your hands are all doodling somewhere else while you stare at the screen. I've gotten so used to it I actually get annoyed when drawing traditionally because I'm not used to my own hands blocking the view XD.
As for the programs I use I actually go back and forth between Paint Tool SAI and Corel Painter 12. PaintTool SAI revolutionized my experience with digital art. It just feels so smooth~ <3 I had used Photoshop before then but I had one too many experiences with slowdown and crashing on my old laptop. SAI is much more bare bones and lightweight but its the most stable program I've ever used.
SGD Roomba Racing, anyone?
(Here's another pic I just finished)
