Actually, this happens, not as a holiday event but as part of the early storyline. The first time you're able to leave the region you start in you are tasked to help arrange a rememberance by delivering a proposal for one to the other two nations (other than the one you started in).

edit: why are the spoiler tags "[HB]" rather than [spoiler] ???
Shhh! I might not know that lol.. I just got done with that quest before the beta severs went down. I'm sure that's not going to be the same as a "Seasonal/Holiday" event.

I'm talking decorations and fun event quests. All the ideas you guys are posting are great! Thanks for supporting my idea.

I really, really LOVE this idea. Events are awesome and this one will be very meaningful to those of us who are "survivors". I hate to say it but I think there should be some unique feature to it for those of us who actually "have" the mark. Not wanting to start Legacy rage...

Count me in for this event! There's a lot that they can do with it. And when we liberate Ala Mhigo, we can have a yearly event for that too. The point being, more festivals and celebrated based on in-game events is always a great idea.

I have been thinking for a while about how we should have a community driven event instead of waiting for the development team to do it for us.

It would be every year, either at the date when the servers went down or at the date when servers went back up.

It would be some kind of recognition for all the effort and time put into this game by the development team, and for us as a remembrance of all our adventures that cannot be lived again.

It could be something as simple as gathering together at camps, or having a dress code (like dye all your gears in white for the duration of the event... or maybe black?). We could maybe do a walk around some important areas, or visit the scars that can be seen in the new maps we have now.

idk... I been pondering about it for a while now... but dunno if anyone would be interested and kinda disregard the idea as "silly".

while I like the idea, I have to disagree with the premise that it fits with the Lore. the fall of Dalamud was a calamity in the land of eorzea. it's not something they would celebrate. to give an analogy, we wouldn't celebrate 9/11 here in the US. we have a solemn remembrance of that date each year but we don't throw carnivals lol.

I like this idea. Maybe we can have player-run quests! And competitions and the like. Costume parties. Midnight raids. WS Fireworks!

*tilts head* although I kind of agree with Ralos' sentiment on the matter. I mean, we can still have this community run "yo hey!" event, but within the game...it might be kind of odd to go bobbing for apples over a bunch of dead people, you know?

November 11! Every year! Never forget.

Even though the occasion is solemn it could still be a 'holiday'. Not like carnival games (though burning Darnus in effigy sounds like an amazing idea...), but more like everyone exchanges gifts on this day as a signal of how we had to band together to survive the Calamity and how we all have to care for each other, especially those who lost everything. Npcs could give us seasonal events and food for the occasion maybe.

Even if it wasn't an event, we should all stand outside Ul'dah mounted on our Goobbues in remembrance of how we watched the world burn in it's very last hours.

I like the idea....but that said:

Maybe Dalamund should only stay 'part of the story' Hopefully years from now, the failure that was 1.0 will barely be remembered by anyone except the few of us who actually were there that day. So in a way, have a 'Fall of Dalamund' festival every year, only muddy's the waters and keeps bringing up the ghost of 1.0. It is probably most healthy for the game to move on.
