Demolishing housing for SE Accounts in Bad Standing

It's amusing how people always find new ideas why someone should lose their house.

It is really simple: There are not enough houses. And there will never be enough houses in the current system, no matter with how many obscure ideas you come up with why you deserve it more than the person next to you.

I think demolishing housing should be activated for SE accounts in bad standing and part of an FC with housing or solo player with housing. It's a privilege to own a house in FFXIV, and I think repeat offenders don't deserve a house of any kind.


I think it should be on a shorter time cycle, preferably weekly or daily, until the egregious incident passes after 90 days on those accounts.

We don't need to make changes to demolition when there are still thousands of available plots across the NA worlds.

Ownership of a house in a game shouldn't be a privilege. It should be something that every character (not just player) should have access to as long as the character meets the requirements for purchase (level 50 plus 2nd Lt in their Grand Company in this game).

If an account is in "bad standing", they're going to get banned on their next offense and lose the house regardless. No need to do anything special with regards to demolition in that case.

One thing that this player community is extremely bad with is forgiveness. People who have made mistakes in the past have no reason to change if those mistakes are constantly held over their head even after they try to improve. Let's stop encouraging permanent punishments as a response to what was a temporary problem.

While it's probably for the best that the system remain overall unchanged, I do think that at least PERMA banned accounts should have their houses stripped.

Come to think of it this actually does seem to happen in some cases, but not all.

For instance, I remember during the Ungarmax affair a whole passel of houses all of a sudden popped up - though perhaps it had already been 45 days since those bans, as I'm not sure how soon after it was discovered and blew up that I actually heard about it? - suggesting that those houses may have been stripped.

On the flip side, some time later, one of NN's most notorious trolls on one of my former worlds had his behavior finally catch up to him for the last time late in Stormblood, and it was months (there being a demolition pause at the time) before his Mist medium would go back on the market, while people annoyedly virtual fidgeted about the situation (given the state of the housing market overall at the time, can you be surprised? Not to mention IIRC the person in question had literally already returned to NN as a mentor on their new account and was right back up to their old tricks before the house finally poofed ...).

It could possibly be that in the case of the Ungarmax users (perhaps in the case of technical exploitations in general?) SE actually out and deleted the Service Accounts involved (which would presumably result in the houses freeing up immediately due to the associated characters being erased altogether) while when people are permabanned for social violations the account is left in existence, just unable to be used. But this, too, might perhaps be something where more consistency would be appropriate?

I see this going something like this.

"Hey We want that particular large plot. Lets all mass report that person so they get in trouble and their house gets demolished. We can keep doing that till we get the plot."

unpopular opinion but if your FC has less than 5 active people on in the last 90 days? yes. absolutely.

Doesn't it only take 3 ppl to even form an FC??? In SE's eyes, 3 ppl = an FC.

No. I mean if a player gets banned, they get banned and housing is lost. To make someone lose a house for a 3-day suspense is too far and wouldn't fix the issue. Like others have said, FFXIV as a whole doesn't have a housing crisis but rather certain worlds have a housing crisis because they are too full. My world still has plenty of small housing in Ishgard for sell.

I still think there should be a Datacenter-wide scan/search of all perma-banned accounts and have their houses immediately demolished to free up extremely desireable housing like large and medium plots.
