As for stakes and character death, I think it's simply a matter of personal taste. MMO's are usually designed to have broad appeal and cater to a variety of different preferences yet the main characters share the same opinions, morals and beliefs as one another and many are from the exact same in-game region. Compared to the variety of personalities we get in the single player Final Fantasy games the Scions are arguably very boring and 'safe'. Like a lot of the game's elements in general, arguably.
So some of us come to forum to voice such concerns. Not everybody is going to agree and that's perfectly fine but there's no reason it has to lead to grand conspiracies or mean spirited bad blood between specific posters.
I may very well be wrong in my viewpoint but my tentative view of the current trajectory is that the development team are doubling down on catering to the 'venue goer' crowd as a priority and pretty much everybody else is being left behind. That could very well change at some point but only time will tell for certain. Between the lack of an equivalent to Bozja/Eureka and the story deciding to do away with multiple ongoing plot threads all at once, though, for the foreseeable future I'll probably only be logging in during the free login campaigns. Especially since I've already carved out a niche for myself elsewhere.
