Possible still my guess/hopes for 1.22 is still 4/20-4/30

An interesting German speaking GM under the guise of a Raven reporter popped into Ul'dah today and prompted me to check the German side of our forums, I found this:

Now I don't speak any but I see a reply to live letter 3? Can anyone confirm or translate?
Klar! Es gibt auch mehr.
Of course. There's also more.
I've been away camping over Easter, so there is stuff to catch up on. Because it was so extensive... I'm going to be lazy with this one and just post a sum-up of it of things that might be relevant to us.
In my personal opinion, Sasu is in a sort of damage-control mode regarding people getting different levels of service in different countries. It's about lodestone-update delays for German and competition access.
- Typos and mistakes shouldn't happen in our translations, but that's the nature of the beast. They do their best.
- Competitions are restricted to certain countries because of mundane law. For example, Quebec is excluded from North American competitions because of their local law. Likewise, all the various European countries have unique rules and conditions for competitions that have to be worked through. That's why there are region restrictions. That being said, they're looking at more options. (And I personally note that the Garuda comp recently up is all regions, possible due to there being in-game rewards only.)
- If you're not living in the required region for a competition, you can still participate, but are not eligible for prize consideration.
An in-game menu should be standard imho. Being able to change the settings while the game is running outside the game implies game not crashing on alt-tab. While I'm aware they promised it won't come 2.0, I'm a bit skeptic about it.Quote:
We are currently diligently working on the system-configuration for 2.0. We would like to implement either an in-game configuration menu or make it possible to adjust settings from outside the game while the game is running.
Just so people know, my mundane life has taken a turn for the busy recently. I'll be on weekly at best for the next little while. Hopefully that will ease again in the not too distant future.
As usual a few more posts, but nothing we haven't already heard ourselves.
It really is that time of year when I only get on fortnightly... So some of this is after the fact. Pulling out a few key points:
- No new market ward taxes are currently being planned.
- The habit of slow forum avatar and lodestone information updating can be resolved by clearing your browser's cache.
- The Legacy chocobo won't be replacing your current mount, but there is no further info available right now.
- The drop-rates for Inferno totems, Kupo Nut Charms etc will not be changing.
I saw the picture that Sasu posted and realized that Yoshi-P truly is a Lalafell at heart.

I don't understand this, why would the recipes be gone until 2.0..? 2.0 is the latest I can imagine them staying, and they aren't gone yet, so was this supposed to say that they'll be gone from/after 2.0 or will they really go for a time before 2.0 and then come back after 2.0..?
It sounds more like All Dated items will be in the game untill 2.0
To clarify, there was indeed confusion about this, because Sasu wrote it wrong. She has clarified.
Their plan is indeed to remove dated recipes from the game and have them all gone by the time v2.0 rolls around, after which, anything could happen. To be specific, Sasu said that dated recepies would be gone until 2.0, meaning that anything removed will stay that way and what comes after 2.0 is its own kettle of fish.
I am NOT confident about my translation of the last sentence there. The structure Sasu has used in her writing is confusing me a little. From what I can gather, she is referring to the fact that the act of purchasing from the item search screen involves a background action that moves your character to the wards, makes the purchase and moves you back again. This involves passing between servers. Now if I'm reading this right, she is saying it's difficult to set it up so that it allows these player movements to go to multiple cities' wards from the one mercantile house.
If I'm reading it wrong, she may actually be saying that the ability to purchase from the item search menu is what is preventing them from combining the market wards under the current server structure, but this doesn't match up well with everything else we've heard about the issue. Or she could be saying something else entirely... >_>
Meanwhile, the Hidden Artefacts quest continues.

There is only one question left:
What is Yoshi-P's favourite food?
What Sasu is quoting below is worded slightly differently on the English version of the Lodestone. My translation is thus different accordingly so that a bigger picture can be established.
What is clear is that they are not being at all specific about when the beta will exactly start. There are a couple of possible interpretations on this and other rep's comments if you read between the lines. All that is blatantly clear is:
- People who haven't registered the game to start their free trial period need to do it by May 31st;
- If you fall into this catergory, schedule 90 days up front payment for the moment your 30-day trial ends.
- Otherwise, make sure you've paid for 3 months by the time beta starts, whenever that is.
I really hope they don't go the 1-3 offer unique rewards route, it'll just make the material sink greater then it already is since people want to make the Top 20. People want a higher treshold of eligbility to the "Top" list not an adjustment that will just make things worse.
Thank you, Catapult!
This is actually the first time I can think of that they have specifically said that a beta is coming for the PC version. I know a lot of people assumed that was the case, but their English wording only says that they'll be "distributing the version 2.0 software" in September/October. Distributing software and bringing servers online are two separate things, so I'm really excited to hear this German rep response.
They did mention a PS3 beta in English, and talked about a second "free trial period" for PC users, both of which were supposed to happen in October/November. But this is the first time I've heard official confirmation that a PC beta is set to begin in September/October. So thank you for the translations!
This may not be news to some, since a lot of people assumed this would be happening. But I wasn't so sure, since they hadn't said it explicitly until now.
Ya based on the current design something like BLU is just to difficult to implement. Since abilities are learned naturally you could have things like a basic "BLU" like class which learns slots for different monster type abilities but then their given flexibility just makes them harder to balance since blue magic can pretty much be set to have any ability ranging from support/enfeeble/enhance/healing/DD/tanking etc.
---
One concept for BLU is to split it into 3 different "BLU" mage classes:
-one which focuses on learning melee/tank based action
-one which focuses on learning support/heal actions
-one which focuses on learning enfeeble/elemental actions
With the above it would give the option to be able to Balance the concept of mage classes by creating a ilne of mages known as the "Feral" Mages a group of 3 classes which learn through imitation of beast traits. But they all focus on different aspects of the animals behavior, One focuses on the concept of the Hunter, ferocious in behavior striking fast and knowing how to defend themselves, another focuses on the aspect of a pack, those who watch each others back and fight side by side supporting one another and taking care of those who get hurt, and the last group comes from the line of beast which use their own special traits to weaken a foe so that they can use them in a weakened state, like a scorpion's sting to paralyze the target, or a snakes poison to do the same so that they can make waste to them in their own time.
At least then you would have a BLU concept just not in the traditional way but at least in a way in which it could be balanced for the way classes are handled in 2.0.
----------
Another idea is to take the concept from 2.0 but rather then make it a class turn it into a PVP system in which players can attach up to 20 points worth of BLU skills to them to use in PVP to give them more flexibility. Since all classes do have MP and can earn TP the BLU skills learned can vary from using MP, TP or a variation of both.
It could be setup in a manner in which for PVP you can set up to 5 spells, but you are limited by the 20 point system.
So say you have
Pollen=self cure 2 point
Poison Sting=Single target poison 2 points
Thunderbolt= AOE Thunder + stun 8 points
Spike Flail= Cone +stun 8 points
Headbutt= single target stun 4 points
Cocoon=DEF up 4 points
So basically you could set any of the above up to 5 as long as it doesn't go over the 20 point limit. Then you can have a bit of mystery in a pvp match where a person can't look at a person and say, oh hey that's a WAR he only has access to pug/pld/mrd skillsets so I don't have to worry about him using skills from the other classes. But if you add in the concept of "BLU" spells being used in pvp then during pvp you never know what to expect as to what people may set to those 5 abilities based on their party setup and the strategy they may be using.
--
But ya, I think there is a way to work the "traditional" BLU into the game though if people want BLU spells then they'll have to accept it as a PVP only concept which is used to add more variation to the abilities you have access to when fighting against others.
Many thanks for keeping us in the German forum Loop. Always appritiated Cata ^^
It has already been noted to Sasu that she failed to make mention of the female Highlander Hyur.
This next one is more about a heads-up on forum-policy for people. A person set up a thread to run a competition for which they were offering prizes. It got removed by the admins and Sasu gave this response, which appears to revolve around Duty of Care and the fact that SE is not set up for multi-jurisdictional competitions.
Moving on...
And for those suitably talented and living in the right country (unlike me)...
Sasu really is on a roll at the moment. These next few posts are following up from the post about being able to tell is someone is "Away" from your friends list.
That was a mouth-full, but hey, an equivilant function of /sea all confirmed.
Next up, we re-enter the "timely distribution in all languages" territory.
I read: Yohi-P and FFXIV at GamesCom in Germany this year.
Back to the User Interface.
nice. /sea all and other functions is absolutely a big plus.
Being able to change the language without logging out sounds nice, never do it now but would be nice to be able to switch from JP and English time to time to explain some stuff when looking up info in-game.
So I missed the boat on getting that comment about the race-specific gear being obtainable in some form, but this one is still VERY topical...
*insert standard complaint about the notoriously low drop rates on Ifrit gear here - 180 kills and only Dark Matter, so please adjust the drop rate*
/prepares for mass requests
Sooo are weapons going away then? Why can't we get a concrete answer on that? Either the primal weapons are forever, or they're pre-2.0 legacy kid bonuses.
I'd really like to know so I can decide to focus on relic or Garuda.
No already earned weapon is going away.
There has still been no official confirmation about the Prime battles, at least to my knowledge. If you are going to make claims please link a source :)
The only information we have so far is that there will be roaming primal fights introduced.
Absolutely no further commentary so far in any language to the best of my knowledge.
The speculation is that roaming primals will replace the L50 instanced fights.
On the other hand, a version 2.0 screenshot still shows the howling eye as an area in existence. Presumably instanced to fight Garuda.
A Relic Reborn also requires engaging Ifrit and Garuda in instanced fights, so they are presumed to be in the game in some instanced capacity.
I'm going on the assumption that removing the instanced fights would lead one to wonder why they bothered putting all the work into developing them like this in the first place, since almost all content has been developed with version 2.0 in mind. FFXIV has also been earmarked as a "fan-service" game, so removing the instances where you can fight a primal whenever you want would be a little silly (since roaming primals may only be on the map to fight once a week).
Heck, we don't even know if Garuda or Ifrit will BE roaming primals. We know Odin is one, but the rest is up in the air. They could have decided to have 6 instanced and 6 roaming - two for each element or one for each deity.
Of course, now I'm getting into lore territory...
Short version: Welcome to speculation city.
