Wow, Wuk Lamat is really single-handedly ruining the DT story...

Not gonna spoil anything but my god. It's actually difficult to do the MSQ with such an obnoxious character.

Maybe I'll change my mind at the end... maybe... but it doesn't seem that way anymore...

4chan is very critical of the story too, although I'm not sure whether they're actually mad at the story or mad at this "Sweet Baby" thing I keep seeing.

I honestly think she's worse than Zero lol. Zero is cringe. But Wuk Lamat is beyond cringe.

In the first two zones at least, she has yet to become actually relevant to anything aside from her own story. The only reason given to stick with her is the Golden City being relevant in her rite thing.

This, This is why I was concerned that they will scrap their follow through plans after DT. and miss out on whatever their plans are.

While it's way too damn early for anyone to make a judgements call.

I hope people see it for what it is.

and honestly, of course it was going to be this level of difference.

There is no real threat we cannot utterly demolish.

But the questions now, if some have been paying attention.

Can we do change without Demolishing.

I think we easily can, just getting people to get along with it, is another thing.

Let's wait til we all finished MSQ first.

I disliked her seasick antics at first but this was more the story and writing trying to be funny and just ending feeling clumsy and slightly cringe than the character herself after I played a little more. I've gone through the first area (one of the first two) and I do actually appreciate her a lot. I do like what she represents, I do like that she has flaws but also strengths that nobody else has, and it offers good contrast. And that she is the best suited to be a leader because of her inner qualities and personality than all the other combined even though nobody can see it at first, and I do feel it promises a lot of good storytelling to come (but who knows, we'll see, i'm not that far yet).

But I mean, it's like Lyse right? People seemed to hate her, while I do think that she was a great character for so many reasons: she was the audience anchor asking all the questions the player would ask, naive, groomed to become a leader in spite of herself, fighting her past and constantly living in the shadows of her forebears (sister and father), and coming up right off the bat with very naive ideas and being quickly disillusioned because the world is just not black and white, and she had to slowly grow out of it. I feel a similar vibe from Wuk so far, and I do like it a lot. Those characters are a lot more 3 dimensional than all of the scions combined that never evolved much (except Alphinaud in ARR and Thancred in SHB maybe and that's where they were actually a lot more relatable).

So far for me, she is just a much much worse version of Lyse. And the writing is cringe as hell in so many area's. Constant, we need to feel sorry for her, we need to "root for her" moments. I never felt this way about Lyse, I didnt mind her, but I could see the short comings people had.

Maybe its me getting older and consuming far more audio/physical books and getting good stories with good characters. And Lyse is just rose colored glasses now, but this character does nothing for me. I have actively started to hate Wuk. And the worst part, which feels like them just openly mocking me at this point. How we have had so many times during this build up asking us if we REALLY want to do this. Its like no, I don't want to help her, at all.

And not only that, I just feel like an NPC to Wuk. Its a total regression of the story, like we are back to being the side kick in 2.0.

She replaces Lyse as my most hated character (living), which I suppose is a feat in itself. I probably wouldn't have hated her so quickly if the game wasn't "You sure you want to help?, SIKE! You only get affirming dialogue choices!".
