I'm barely playing and keeping my sub up only to log in once a week to help a friend with some content. It's been quite a while since I thought that nothing really keeps me in this game anymore, so someone might get their hands on a medium soon.
Games in general don't keep me on a leash of "you'll miss out if you don't log in".
14 was a breath of fresh air when I started to play, but it's been a long time ago. SE changed nothing about their content formula and everything has been the same, there's nothing "new" in how they develop things, I guess because people are happy with whatever this "saint" company does with the game. I'm not so happy anymore because essentially there's nothing new for me to see so far.
Jobs being brought down to one linear level where almost everything feels the same if you put similar skills in the same slots on your hotbar, dungeons are pretty much reskins of each other, just bosses having slightly different mechanics etc.
I don't personally need to have "daily content" to keep me playing, but I would wish things would get more interesting than stuff everyone got used to. If people like it - I have nothing against it, it's up to each individual to decide what's fun for them, I never judge people on that one. To each their own.
I hope the game will see some change someday tho.

It's even worse when you consider the largest part of this patch, the Arkasodara beast tribe, would typically have been part of 6.1 but was instead delayed to 6.15.

Back in 5.15, we got a BLU level cap increase and a new PvP gamemode. 6.15 had two yellow fetch quests and another piece of fetch-quest content that was supposed to have been in 6.1. This game really is just turning into a visual novel, where months worth of sub is just buying some text boxes to read.

I think Square should add a half-month sub plan with how many people insist the game has nothing to offer past one day.

There's Lala Fishing competitions that are held in Ul'dah. Place one whole gil at the end of your fishing line and go to town! See how many Lalafell you can pull in with just a single coin. The more shiny the gil, the better! Lolorito is the hardest to catch, so you gotta real pull out all the stops if you wanna snag him!

You only have one combat job at 90. With the introduction of the new Beast Tribe quests, this is the ideal opportunity for you to rake in an easy 2.4 million XP a day on your 80+ jobs so that you can finally tackle all the role quest lines that you haven't even started. There's also a new set of weekly deliveries for your crafting and gathering jobs. I don't know what else to tell you. I've been playing this game almost every day for the past year and a half and have never run out of things to do. If your definition of "long-lasting content" is raiding, raiding, and more raiding, then WoW may be more your speed.

No offense but i want to be rewarded for my time. As for jobs, i don’t want to play gutted and simplified jobs. Maybe when SE decides to actually fix them and give attention to them i’d give them a try. I don’t understand how asking for more long lasting content and a better mid-core/endgame warrants “but did you do these super meaningless tasks from 3-4 expansions ago?!” I’m talking about this expansion, endwalker, the one i paid for recently.

Comparing the longevity of a pvp game to a pve game is absolutely hilarious. PvP games tend to be competitive even in a casual setting and because you're playing people and not AI the game is different every match. As long as the game has a fair amount of maps and game modes you don't need a constant stream of content. Its completely different from the repetitive and progression style of pve. Eventually you just run out of things to do and its simply inevitable. No developer will ever be able to keep up with player demands in that regard and its been an issue forever for MMO's and the alternative of super grindy content the demands you to log in every day is not exactly popular. And if I recall correctly, eureka was not popular at all when it first came out. Most players hated it...and forget about that mess that was diadem. There's a reason they changed their approach to content.

We normally don't get any quests for in between patches. Getting any quests at all are just bonus.

Correction, it’s nothing i want that’s worth the time. I adore grinds, i absolutely adored eureka because it rewarded the time i invested in it. 90% of what you did does NOT. What reward does sightseeing give? Or jump puzzles. Or getting all titles, or clearing hoh/potd?

Always have to include that. I have to always reiterate *quality* content or "content I am interested in". Sure, there's some other things we could do, but would I want to? No. I'd like to see some actually enjoyable content, that lasts awhile - something you would want to keep doing, or have a reason to keep doing. A lot of the content in this game is just simply not worth it. Not only incredibly grindy and/or unfun, but rewards you with little to nothing.

*looks at halo infinite* yeah ok bud it's so easy to keep a shooter alive. if you think you can just throw in a few maps and game modes and have a game that is still widely praised today (aside from some things that are honestly on the devs like bots, no support, or major updates etc...). and still retains a good playerbase/community then you're honestly nuts and know nothing of how to actually keep player retention.

wow eureka wasn't liked on launch and they learned from it and dropped a good piece of side content bozja. it's almost as if instead of just going oh this thing failed let's ignore it. you work on it and figure out how to make it better. thats what people expect from games that say they want to go on for 10 more years innovation, evolving gameplay, not basically the same content cycle but somehow taking longer inbetween each patch. and let's bring up island sanctuary. which is seen as an upgrade to housing (even tho it's more limited). it'll most likely just be the gardening system on a slightly bigger scale. and they already have a breeding system in place with chocobos that they would just have to tweak for animal breeding if they included it. it's prolly a farmland in the sky is all and will see mostly reused assets and systems the only really new things will be rendering multiple minions at once. and like i said animals and a bigger gardening system. we'd be lucky if we could put outdoors furnishings there. but i think they wouldn't hold that from us

You could... like ten or fifteen years ago, but not really anymore. There are too many other options to play. A game has to really set itself apart from others in today's market to maintain a good playerbase.

3.15 had scholasticate and anima.

4.15 had bard perform and and Rival Wings

5.15 had Blu mage updates and Onsal Hakair

but hey at least we got some super cool time-gated text boxes in 6.15.

Personal Achievements.....which is literally a Reward that is worth your time.
And its Variety, I like collecting Titles, getting mounts and doing different activities and expanding the FFXIV world, there is more to do then the same old Grind. But hey, thats what you Want and deam worth your time.

maybe just maybe that was the point i was trying to get at. if your game is boring or relying on outdated content to keep itself alive you gotta be doing alot other stuff right to keep people around. i mean hell people in TF2 were still discovering new interactions with weapons years later after it released. it's the level of being easy on the outside but having unique deeper mechanics that appealed to alot of people at the time. and still does today rocket jumping is great, demoknight is great, hell even battle engineers are great. now thats of course not the only reason it's stuck around so long but it's the point i was trying to get at.

right now if you look at our jobs how much stuff isn't base level or couldn't be overlapped with other jobs? (especially at lower levels) like 10% of all kits in similar roles. it's why i like bozja and current eureka cause they added uniqueness to what was considered dull mechanics (fates), and add more depth to the current combat system. even something as simple as the elemental wheel already adds more to the combat. as long as the content is fun and engaging and has a deeper level to it you'll have people sticking around. bozja remained popular almost half a year between it's two zones. for good reason it evolved on the eureka formula and added more to making combat interesting and making the content more unique (solo CEs for example). and thats what people want either to see those systems continue to be upgraded and brought up to current max level or content that evolves on them for max level being brought out earlier.

nobody is asking for daily grinds we just want more that we can log in and say you know what i wanna spend a few hours farming idk globbity bloop with the bois. without having to sacrifice the levels we already grinded for

If it is just random content to waste time then Bozja and Eureka already fit that bill, especially with BA being there. If you want content that actually works towards something then it is going to come at the cost of something else, because whatever the reward is or content is it will not satisfy everyone and people who it doesn't will be here complaining about a lack of content like you are now. There are only so many staff and so many development hours they can spend on content and at this point we are looking at having to give up something to get something else.

Here’s my thing though. SB gave us so much content. And it did so without having to cut other content. It gave us deep dungeon, we still had extra hard mode dungeons, we got 4 new relic zones etc. Compare that to ShB. Less dungeons. No deep dungeon. No hildibrand. No allied beast tribe quests etc. And everyone said “oh EW will be better that’s why shb is so low on content.” Meanwhile EW….they’ve now started shoving x.1 content into x.15 because the patch delay is longer now….all for less content?

Why even break it down like that? We've gotten a good amount in this whole major update, more than usual with dungeons being redone and pvp getting a new mode and new skills. So some things got moved back. The alternative is having it all out there, unpolished and causing problems and then all these months in between spent complaining about how long we wait for the next update.

Personally, I'm happy for a break. Breaks are good and very much encouraged. I get to casually work on some smaller goals and just enjoy some more time away from the game.

Actual tragedy has hit a lot of people and continues to do so and here y'all are crying over these updates.

The amount of gathering and crafting content has been increased a great deal over the last two expansions that StB did not have, ocean fishing and Ishgardian Restoration are the two things that come to mind immediately. Not to mention the addition of two races last expansion and one more this expansion which takes a considerable amount of time to complete. While it also may not seem like very much all new jobs have had to be balanced and new skills developed for which would be 4 more since the launch of StB. Although Bozja is not as large as Eureka it still had to be developed with all its new systems as well such as duels and the large scale CEs. While we haven't gotten them yet there is also Criterion dungeons coming up for us this round as well as a new deep dungeon sometime down the line. I would say that there is less battle oriented content sure, but other aspects of the game seem to be growing.

and now you see why people bring this up constantly. it pains us to see content thats actual unique or interesting get thrown to the wind for no reason. imagine if they just ignored eureka after it failed and just stopped releasing side content at all. like i said unreals were a step in the right direction even tho it's basically nothing more than a stat buff and maybe a few surprise mechanics. it gives people a way to farm older mounts without either speed killing it in like 2 fire IVs or losing skills that for example makes BLM fun to play. we want stuff to be at max level cause jobs just aren't made for lower levels anymore. there's a reason very few jobs are considered fun at level 60 and below. so it's why we want stuff like unreal or a more modern eureka or bozja etc... and by releasing it earlier you hold more people over than relying on the surge of 1 month subs on patch days which you'd still get anyways. it's just overall a better business decision as well for profit.

now whether or not SE wakes the f up and actually starts investing in FFXIV instead of whatever hairbrained scheme they have with NFTs is a different story.

Ishgard restoration just reused diadem though which was already a thing since HW i believe? The items given are new yes but…then let’s compare. SB gave us spear fishing as a new mechanic so that’s about the equivalent of ocean fishing. It also gave us an entire new housing zone, something ShB didn’t do. Samurai and Rdm got primal weapons for levels 50 and 60, something Gnb and Dnc did not get. Stormblood had voiced trial and alli raid series, ShB did not. The thing is i really do not see it growing whatsoever, i see us getting less and less. SB was the peak of content, and it’s just steadily gone downhill. I mean they couldn’t even give us an allied beast tribe quest? Seriously?

I do wonder why it is not on 6.1 though, could it be that criterion dungeons will be related or have some connecton with relics? We know 1 comes in 6.2.
Eureka and Bozja's relics are related to their own side zone. ARR's got 2 trials for that although i didn't join in those early expansions and clearly was a different time of how things handled.

Bzoja was 5.35. Why are we looking for relics so early?

Don't read too much into criterion dungeons. They're just trying something new with dungeons. The EW relic will likely have similar steps to the Shadowbringers set.

The first relic zone in sb was 4.25. Theyve progressively delayed it more and more over the expansions lifeimte. Asking for them in 6.25 isnt exactly early. Especially since relics came in 3.15 for HW if im not mistaken.
