it was the same in xi. i participated in actual HNMLS endgame. we had stuff to do, places to be. we didn't just sit around roleplaying or chatting or shouting stupidity in jeuno. part of the challenge was getting where you needed to be in time to claim, sure, but that should only go so far. if you want chocobos to be the main source of travel, make them faster (xiv chocos have a good speed, better than xi). if you don't want to teleport everywhere, have more quick travel options and make them faster (ie: more airship docks, less wait time in between flights/boats, flight paths like WoW).
seems like the only people complaining about anima are the people who have a lot of it and think this translates to it being infinite, and assume everyone else has the same problem. some of us are productive. we run low on anima. it becomes a resource we have to carefully manage. the system is fine and if anything the only real tweak that should've been made was to make it like xi where you needed to corresponding gate crystal before you could teleport or be teleported there.
playing a game for X number of years is irrelevant. two people can play a game for wildly different time periods and still accomplish roughly the same amount of stuff. some people may get quite a lot more done in quite a lot less time. making travel too much of a hassle creates an artificial roadblock for productivity. and we already tried that in 1.0 with the stamina and fatigue systems. they didn't work. you can't bottleneck productivity like that in a game people pay to play.
and besides, you think teleporting around in this game is bad? play gw2 for a day. that's *literally the only method of travel* there.
anyway in the end, throwing out a phrase like "some games are not for everyone" can easily backfire. maybe this game isn't for you?
