If you took more than 5 minutes to actually think about some things you might not make threads making accusations about people, player bases, or making yourself look like a child.

I have gone into almost everything blind and never had an issue. Thats why groups label things such as learning party, practice party, clear party, farm party, weekly clear. A large majority of groups do not go in with the intention of 1 shoting the boss, unless it is a farm party, or a weekly savage clear group (even these don't always expect a 1 shot). Sometimes I feel like people make excuses rather than just admitting they would rather play solo. There is nothing wrong with that. This player base is very friendly, far more friendly than I am which is good.



Yeah, thats not really a very accurate source to represent the FFXIV player base off of.
I like to play more games alone than with others, but I do like playing games with others as well. Where do I fall into that?

I like the solo system for msq, cause then maybe my bro will play again. the one thing that turned him off was that he wanted to play a tank class (always paladins with him idek lol), and since there is no dps version of paladin he is stuck as tank and he hates it because people are generally pushy.. I am a somewhat competent healer and told him i would always be there for him if he wants me to be (support x2 i say lol) he doesn't even like that idea because according to him he shouldn't have to pester any one cause he just decides he wants to play story content, and that all group content should be optional. I mean i don't mind helping him out but i get it. Tanks get it the worst too.. lots of pressure. Healer mains have pressure too but imo not as much close but not as much. I don't always like having to run a group for a story dungeon either.. some days I just can't deal. So I just gather or play a dungeon with my squadron to level them up (yes i still mess with those.. I want them to be strong >:) ). So for people with anxieties and severe introversion issues I think it is a bonus.

That's a nice thought, truly. The sad reality of it though, is that people will just complain and ask for it to be nerfed because they can't be bothered to improve. Either that or they rage quit the game while complaining on social media that its a garbage game.

Honestly I've dodged grouping since the end of storm blood. Leveled all my jobs with squadrons and trusts. My lack of time to commit to a group kinda forced me to solo. But I still enjoy the game just in my own way. And now I'll be able to start the second character without having to group up until I unlock squadrons on him again. So I'm looking forward to it.

FFXIV have been always since ARR a heavily story focused "single player "experience with big lobbies (aka Uldah/Gridania/Limsa) where at some point you need to register in to a party finder to clear some dungeons or trial with real people or NPCs so the story can progress

The problem with this is that the "trust" system simply doesn't have the AI available to it to be able to deal with multiple mechanics at once.... unlike humans. Which makes the content insatiably boring for the rest of us.

So you can have your solo experience, fine. But don't make the rest of us sacrifice actual difficulty so those of you that don't want a challenge can be carried through content.

In my eyes if you want a solo version of 14 you should be paying extra so the dev team can expand and have their own section dedicated to it. That way we can keep the difficulty and scale it up, I'd rather everyone be made as happy as possible than those that are crying because they can't get through the content, and then punish the rest of us that actually want to play a game with some form of challenge.

I love the trust system it is one of the better things they have brought in. In some senses like it has already been mentioned it can be harder because the trusts are not doing AOE they can die and you have to step up. I do not see the issue with having both for all types of player it makes the game enjoyed by everyone and that can only be a good thing.

I have enjoyed all the story dungeons at my own pace without feeling rushed and I prefer it. But other people enjoy group based and there is enough for everyone :)

Which to me is a good thing. Player interaction is generaly a good thing in online games. And even basic things to promote it (in this case enforcing it) makes players get used to the situation.

For a toxic player, or someone who realy doesnt care, they just rush through it and be done with it. Even a toxic player is very likely to just ignore issues most of the time, as they just want to get it done. They usualy only go bad at real struggles, which in the MSQ simply doesnt happen as the content is too easy.

But for those who are willing to communicate, they because of that are much more likely to take that a step further. Organizing a party for an extreme trial is much more likely to happen with them

I'm sorry but there's simply not "enough" for everyone. A lot of players are now complaining about the constant homogenisation of classes and the single pull dungeons leaving us bored as sin. We want challenging content, I don't pay a sub to have netflix or anime on another screen taking more of my attention than the game itself. How can anyone think that is ok?

I agree 100% with your bro. Being forced into one role does suck. The DPS role should be an option as not everyone wants to be the focus tank yet still wants to play that class.

Well it is nice to have the option dungeon runs with npc and nobody is forced to use this option. Seems to be a win win for all players.

It's not a win win though - because the players that enjoy a challenge have no choice of the dumbed down easy dungeons.

I think they should add auto play feature or instant win with cut scene people always finds something to complain even in trust system it will happen.

An MMO promoting solo play is the opposite of good. This game is going to end up like WoW where a good chunk of the playerbase will become anti social mutes because they don't need anyone for anything. We will see an influx of players across all roles that can barely play their jobs, only pull two mobs at a time and can't function in endgame content when they have to join up with other players. I've never understood the concept of wanting to play an online game but not wanting any social interaction whatsoever. The logic is just lost on me. Other than oh muh god I need to jump on the bandwagon game of the month so I can look cool and relevant.

Sorry if that comes across as toxic but you wouldn't go to an RTS game or shooter and whine for the devs too make it turn based because your reaction times are too slow would you? It's like going to a football match and complaining to the club that you don't like football and asking them to convert to a rugby team instead. Again something you wouldn't do. You'd acknowledge that you tried the genre and it just isn't for you.

Let's be honest, this probably isn't true. Sure, there are some that don't want to play an MMO, but the reason a lot of single player fans haven't played this game yet is because of the sub fee, and even with all these changes, they still won't play because who would want to pay a sub fee to basically play a single player game? Even the small amount of people that will join because it stripped MMO portions of it's story will still leave, because once they finish the MSQ there will be no reason for them to stay as they aren't interested in what the game actually is at it's core.

The trust system helped me at times when I felt uncomfortable or wanted to learn dungeons. The community has been helpful and patient when it comes to trials and raids. I believe there's potential and I think it will bring more people into the game.

The Hardcore Minority does not understand or accepts this. In fact they believe every game should start out at Very Hard Mode because Very Hard to easy mode to them and become harder as you go. OP as you see from those quote these people do not understand games made for them, fail. In fact FFXIV 1.0 was made for them, and the entire game and to be shut down and remade. We see this in raids and even early raids where everything is going great except the one whiner who whines about the holy words of the mechanics. Less than a month later the director and a good portion of Bioware Austin was fired and these 'promises' to the hardcore minority were broken as 2 million casuals left and the game went free2play.

Also times you got to point out people for what they are. DKP Guilds used to be the standard with these hardcore players now in most games any Guild that believes in DKP must announce themselves as one or get a reputation on the server as a scummy scammy DKP Guild trying to scam people into getting all the loot for the Guild Higher ups well everyone else does all the work well they sit there and whine in the dungeon and do much of nothing sort of like how the Hardcore Minority does in Raids in which they whine to everyone else to do the mechanics well they sit there and often do nothing.

But you're generalizing. Not everyone who wants more challenge in this or that respect wants super hardcore mode. I can think of maybe only one, maybe two people on these forums who espouse the idea to *that* extreme. A lot are more midcore and often there are some good suggestions. And even some places we can find common ground on. Or just agree to disagree. It's just not helping your argument to constantly call them names.

Yeah, I actually don't even consider myself that serious of a player, I'd just like to keep some options where I can actually think and have fun doing what I'm doing. Largely I like helping people while also challenging myself. Seems like the way things are going I have to choose one or the other and I'd really rather not.

There's still some stuff I find decently fun to play, but most people hate playing it ;_; i can't blame them, considering the cliff in difficulty is not actually that fun to leap in a single go. Really sucks to watch a game I like decide it's not intended for me, but if that's how it ends up, it's not like I can stop it. I already don't heal anymore and I tried a roulette to see if it could still be fun and I was told to just ignore mechs at 90 to "make things go faster." Like. We can't even pretend to play now? Ultimately, I'll just play how I like and expect others to do the same. I'll stay out of the duty roulette queues and I'll consider the content I like on a timer.

Oh but I will add I actually like the solo-friendly stuff and the trusts and such. It's a good option/alternative and hope they flesh it out nicely. I don't begrudge its existence one bit. I'll even use it from time to time!

I don't buy the subscription being a large deterrent to the game nowadays, everyone has subscriptions to something whether it's food delivery, Spotify, heck they might even be throwing coins at an F2P game. People love their cosmetics. Not everyone subs for infinite time, that content lul period also are people who unsub and may just come back in a year kind of thing.

You have to look at it from the business development standpoint that they got a nice slice of the the MMO players that like playing with others. Now it's trying to grow the game more and scoop up those whom might have been intimiated about the MMO aspect and may want to solo their way up, it's likely they become more addicted to group play over time too.

People being "social" only because they NEED other people is not really a good thing to me.
I'd rather people be social for the sake of being social, which is something a portion of the playerbase seems to actively discourage with their rush mentality.

If you are so bothered by someone pulling only one pack of mobs at a time to make a condescending comment about it you are probably one of those people that is in a rush to begin with

Its also ridiculous to think that the people that "cant function in endgame content" are the people that would use duty support while leveling. The MSQ stuff was never going to teach you that anyway.

I swear when i read how obnoxious some "pro social experience" answer are, no wonder a lot of people rather play solo @_@.

1) Get every gears/minions/scrolls/whatever that drop.
2) Go afk whenever i feel like it.

Then again i do enjoy playing with peoples from time to time, even more the first day of a patch release, more good vibes and doing alliance raid with an alliance of first timer is most of the time hilarious.

You have to look at it from the business development standpoint that they got a nice slice of the the MMO players that like playing with others. I mean, you can go ahead and not buy it. It doesn't make it true. Especially since your logic only works if someone decides to blot out what "Market Focus" means. Grandma had a subscription to Spotify. Therefore is she a potential to play XIV? Trust me. The answer is no.

So from a business standpoint: What?

Subscriptions may be a very slight deterrent to attracting new people, but they are a key to retain people

It allows a reliable, steady flow of income for a developer. This way they don't have to provide players with frequent reminders of cash shop, or worse, reminders that game play would be a lot better if you had a subscription.

What good is getting people to try your game if they see its another f2p, player unfriendly model as *every* single one is. Even GW2, which is the best of the subless games (although its buy to play), struggles with this.

Square Enix does toe the line with some bs monetization (retainers, Im looking at you), but I love that the cash shop doesnt exist in game.

I also wonder if a large part of the reason for the trusts being added to MSQ stuff is that with 7.0 we will see a reset of sorts where MSQ is no longer required to start the new expansion as its no longer part of a multi expansion story arc

that way they dont have to be concerned with less people around in that content to queue with.

Eh, personally, I have no idea why someone would choose to play an MMORPG as a single player game. I do stuff on my own quite often, especially since I have yet to find a static for raiding and stuff, but I mean, until the new PvP came out, my solo experience was leaving my char in Limsa while I watched Mr Robot on my second monitor... PvP is a hell of a lot more fun with friends than with randoms that exclusively focus the enemy tanks for no reason whatsoever, Raiding is a hell of a lot more fun with friends than with inconsistent pugs that may leave at any second, Trusts take twice as long as a normal group, etc.

But yeah, I don't know, at least for me MMORPGs feel very shallow when I am by myself.
