Mentor Players Kicking newer players from Duty Ques for low DPS

I am guessing they saw your i150 white accesories/ head piece and that was why your actually booted because getting booted from a dungeon for low dps is actually incredibly rare from what I have seen, you should also dump the vit gear as dex is your main stat that effects damage.

You may want to run some of the lower dungeons and get tomes/gear first before continuing as i150 was low for the first HW dungeons let alone Sohr Khai and the gap is going to continue the more further you get in dungeons.

The mentor should have at least explained why he was booting you but unfortunately most just have it to get the mount from it.

People are arguing mainly because you are not giving enough information. As for the other players to bring up dps their must of been a wipe somewhere along the line. My guess is after the first big pull the mobs were not killed fast enough.

If this was the case then the kick was deserved, as due to you not having that extra TP to spam AOE's caused a wipe.

What you should gather from this thread is simple.

You are playing a multiplayer game. You are queuing into team content.

This has nothing to do with mentors. It has to do with etiquette and entitlement.

You are asking 3 other people to respect the way you want to play. Ask yourself a simple question. Are you respecting the way they want to play the game? So why do you deserve to get what you want when they don't?

You're asking 3 people to invest their time and help you. What exactly have you done to help them back? You certainly weren't helping by bringing the DPS. You certainly weren't helping by wearing i150 gear that was outdated in 3.0. You certainly weren't helping by not having your CC skills.

Again, what exactly are those 3 people supposed to think when they see that? Do you know what I'd think? I'd think this person obviously doesn't get a crap about my time so why should I give a crap about theirs?

Well of course I am going to misunderstand, being frustrated and then reading what you and others wrote will get to you. I stated that I understand I dont have cross class abilities and that i knew i was lacking in that regard. I didnt come here looking for help, if so I would have stated so in my original post. I came to the thread to see if anyone else had this experience. Kicking for not speed running or thata dungeon is taking longer is not right. Thats why they give you 60+ mins to complete it. I brought up Mentors because it was both times a Mentor started it. Don't misunderstand me, I do appreciate the advice but not advice im already aware of.

If you ever take the full lock-out to finish a dungeon, then I don't know what to say.

I could leave the dungeon, uninstall the game, reinstall the game, requeue for the dungeon, get into an average group, and still finish faster than 60 minutes.

Mentor system is a joke. 90% of them are just looking for their mount.

Sorry you are being given a hard time. We have no way of knowing what really happened so evaluating your dps is difficult, but the fact that the mentor didn't instruct you on how to improve your play is a clear violation of the terms of being a mentor. And honestly I've helped plenty of low geared players of any role finish a dungeon because dungeons are how you gear up. Geez. Patience is a virtue I'd expect from any mentor.

On the other hand gear is only one of your issues. Getting lancer to 34 would help you as a bard and I'd get it done asap. Palace of the Dead is a good leveling method and it's also the fastest way to get a good level 60 weapon. A 235 bow will get you far and later you can upgrade it to 255 which is enough for all normal content. You can go in to Palace as a lancer, and when you have enough points (+30/+30) just swap to bard and the NPC will give you a bard weapon.

Nope the reason you get 60+ minutes to complete it is to account for update day when it is new. People are figuring out the mechanics etc to the fights. If you think players are gonna stay in any dungeon for 60 mins you are deluded.

You have added some high pieces in to cheat the ilvl system. The minimum ilvl is there expecting you to have all/majority of gear at that ilvl. Also it doesnt matter that you have a few items 250. Yes you hit the ilvl, but when it syncs you down the 250 items are capped but your accessories are way under the cap. This means your damage is going to be massively reduced.

Average ilvl 200

You set total stats when synced roughly vs someone with just 200 gear

847 Dex vs 1000
579 Acc vs 540
603 crit vs 599
504 Det vs 535
592 skill vs 675
807 Vit vs 720

** I replaced your 250 pieces with void/highest 200 weapon and compared it to someone with full void/highest 200 weapon.

Pure3ify getting kicked for not speed running a dungeon is not a common thing most dps don't even AoE from what I have seen so I wouldn't pin that down to the reason why to you were booted but some people run dps tracking software and if they saw your dps was very low they may have kicked you because it was below a basic level as Bard is one of those jobs that if you don't play correctly will put up low dps even if you have the gear so check out a guide and it will probably help

I checked your gear and your passing the ilvl requirements but still have most of your slots filled with the lowest level 60 gear

We all know the Mentor System is flawed. It would be nice to vote a Mentor negatively if it doesn't fulfill its purpose. However, I must say that different Mentors will have their own way to teach players their stuff. Some will be rude, some will be polite, some will be careless, some will be very vocal and helpful, others will remain silent till you ask something. I unlocked the Mentor thing with my main, but I don't use it because I'm not good material for it. I might throw some hints here and there, if I feel like doing it. I quit to actively helping people because of the "I play the way I want" or "I pay for my sub, don't tell me what to do" attitude. Ultimately, people should remove their crowns when they don't feel like helping others.

My advice here? Your situation sucks. It does. However, I also checked your lodestone: You should replace your accesories and head. The rest is completely fine (People downed Savage with that crafted gear). Focus your energy into unlocking the rest of your cross-class skills. You can easily do that because they increased the armory bonus for secondary classes below your main's max level. It shouldn't take that long.

The thing is, realistically, they also pay for their own sub. If the majority thinks they need to replace people because they don't meet their expectations, they are also completely free to do it. They are also paying customers. We don't expect players to get full gear within the first 2 months either, specially if you have limited time. You still have 4 months till the expansion hits, I'd say you have plenty of time to catch up and take things easily. Don't rush yourself too much, otherwise you'll hit yourself against a wall like you just did. Twice. Granted, some players will be patient enough to let it go and run the dungeon with you. Some others won't.

You probably thought it was another use of the "i'll play how i want its my sub" argument. What she actually said was:
If I meet the min requirements for an instance I should be able to play it.

Which IS actually what the Devs intended. If you meet the ilvl reqs, You meet the stat requirements to clear it.
The problem is a warped perception of what makes acceptable DPS in a 4 man duty. Too often, overgeared people expect the other 3 members of the party to also be overgeared, thus ensuring that they can speedpull one end to the other.
I have frequently encountered players who have minimum ilvls for the duty and got that there via the wrong accessories. Sometimes they just don't know better, Merely grabbing what they thought was what they needed to continue. Those people i will help to not just finish the duty i found them in, but also make sure to direct them towards the correct gear. Which is what Mentors should be doing, Not just "oh your dps is low /KICK."

The OPs problem would occur a whole lot less often if people weren't expecting every DF run to be a speedrun. Not everyone is going to be overgeared and just wanting to cap tomes.
Sometimes people who actually need not only the tomes but the drops from within the dungeon, queue for those dungeons.

Yesterday I twice encountered tanks that didn't have 'enmity generating' actions as part of their rotations. The second one, in Sohm Al HM generated so little hate that a *single* cure had enemies on me (I checked - no exaggerating). They still insisted on big pulls too, despite being told repeatedly not to do so & even went AFK during the big pull with the worms! We didn't kick. Tanks are too valuable to kick as I'd been queuing for ages as healer.

Why did I tell you that story? To show it's a game & everybody makes mistakes, especially when learning. I don't parse but imagine that there are times when I've put out more damage as SCH than the DPS who seems semi-afk or lazy. I'm sorry you got kicked for their vision of low DPS, they shouldn't have done that & it was unfair to you. I'd have reported them both times as there are few DPS checks in dungeon situations precisely to account for situations where someone is learning & unable to put out "l33t deeps".

AGAIN thank you to everyone who gave me adivce, dont misunderstand me I am not blowing you off I just understand what I need to do its just taking me longer to achieve that goal with 2 hours a day instead of 6+ its frustrating to state a problem which is being kicked for not being toxic or anything towards the Party. If I was rude or insulting then yes I am at fault but I was concentrating on what dps I can do. I only brought up Mentors because they brought this up to me in a party then a kick. So yes. It is frustrating to play a game I pay for and not be able to access story content because of other people. If I was doing Hard or Extreme versions I understand. There is a reason I have not done them.

if you are not able to carry the newbie dps than i am sorry to say but your are not a better player than the newbie...

You're right, this isn't rocket science. If 3 people don't want to carry you, then they don't have to. You don't get to tell 3 other people what to do because you pay a sub or are a new player.

If 3 people do want to carry you, then that's great for you. But, that's a decision they made for themselves. Not one that you can make for them.

You can only do this to a degree though if I am putting up 2200 dps and the other dps is at 500 and the healer is not dpsing and the tank is a turtle Palidan the dungeon is gonna tank a long time regardless.

So let me get this straight. I play this game for the entitlement of others? I am looked down upon because I only met the min requirements for that specific dungeon or trial? So in the future instead of wanting to play more content with the few hours a day i get i should just get the best of what I can before continuing?

Well... Technically, Shes still not wrong. Everyone paying the sub is on an equal playing field.
If someone doesn't want to help a lesser geared player who was randomly matched to their party, that person could leave the run, rather than the lesser geared player who needs to complete that content.
If people want speedruns, use the party finder, its what its for. Let the DF be used by people willing to help other players.
The problem isn't that she wasn't doing something the rest of the party wanted her to do (AKA contributing no DPS as a healer etc). The case she cited in her OP stated it was low dps that got her kicked. Low dps as a function of lower average ilvl.

I still refuse to accept people kicking others for not being overgeared for the duty they're in. Which is what appears to be have been the case for the OP. What the hell is wrong with taking a few extra minutes to help out a fellow paying customer?

Its not like i can hide being new lol it tells you in the beginning of a specific instance that a new player is there. I just always found it good to let everyone know. But to also state that i understand the mechanics so if im told something role wise to do I will do it.

I find it extremely sad to what lengths people here go to defend bad mentors. "Oh no, a duty MIGHT take 5 minutes longer?! Obviously, the new player expects a carry! Kick is justified! Who needs to give tips or help, we can't be expected to waste those 5 minutes!"

I'm sure those are also the guys who leave after one wipe, even though a boss was at 5% and duty could probably be cleared after a second try.

Please, some people in this thread really shouldn't become mentors. If you want all players to perform 100% (and kick those that don't), feel free to do so, but don't become mentors, because I don't think you know what being a mentor means.

Mentors should not kick anyone without giving out some advice first, but also you should be doing everything you can to max your DPS, meaning having all mandatory cross class skills for your job. Yeah I agree, current system sucks because can force players to play something they don't find enjoyable but till 4.0 is what we have.

With 2 hours a day or so could take around 4 or 5 five days to reach level 34 perhaps?

Now for everyone else, if you are kicking someone for being undergeared or missing a couple crossclassss in story content. You should take a step back. At no point in this could we actually judge who is at fault in the low dps. Therefore assuming it is the OP is presumptuous at best. Also if having low dps is a good reason to kick then yes you are being elitest. If you qued for a dungeon that is making a choice to spend the next 15-1hr. If you don't have time don't que.

I agree! Thank you. I dont have a problem kicking someone who is rude or not playing their role correctly. But if you are trying and you understand the mechanics and you are being friendly why kick? Why not take the extra few minutes to help that person clear the content they need cleared? I dont ever go into a dungeon with the mentality of ima get carried. I always watch guides before entering. So what i do 500 less dps..

They got kicked twice in a row though and that's odd I see low dps all the time and have maybe seen a vote kick in dungeon 1-2 times in over 2 years due to dps and that was because they doing something like spamming blizzard or something extremely noticeable most people for the most part will put up with a low dps it's a tank/healer that gets booted the majority of the time.

I am saying that you need to understand that there are 3 other real-life people in a 4-man group. You are 1/4th of the team and that's all you are. All you've done in this topic is talk about your situation, about how you feel wronged, about what you deserve.

What you should be thinking about is not what you want, but what you all are. In this case, you all want to clear the dungeon.

I play on a JP data center. An apt summary of the difference between NA and JP is that on a NA server, people think about how the group is holding them back. On JP servers, people think about how they're holding the group back.

All you've done this topic is talk about how getting kicked from that group hurt your gaming experience. All you've done is talk about how that group prevented you from doing the story. Where is the self reflection? All I hear are excuses. When people tell you how the 3 other people might've felt, all you've done is dismiss that perspective with ridiculous garbage like "I pay my sub."

I can assure you that if you had done more to be prepared for Sohr Khai, then no one would think about kicking you. You mention the minimums but seriously, if I had a kid and they came home from school with straight Ds and told me it was okay because they met the minimums, I wouldn't throw them a celebration. I would throw them into a jail cell with nothing but a teacher and textbook.

Now to the point about mentors, whether they were a mentor or not does not justify the kick. The fact they had a crown holds no bearing on this really. You don't need a crown to give advice and when you do you should not go into this victim blaming rant some of you have on this thread. The Op got kicked and was upset that is fine. People keep harping on them for not being prepared, even though they have stated multiple times they read guides ahead of time. I would suggest reading before speaking.

So just because OP doesn't have the latest ilevel, they should be EXPECTED to be kicked? How is OP supposed to gear up if they get kicked for not fulfilling your high ilevel requirements?

Also, you say "no one is defending them" but in the same breath you say "Op cannot be surprised to be kicked" ?! That is contradicting yourself. Saying kicking for low ilevel is justified means you ARE defending them.

Fact is: OP met the minimum ilevel requirements for the duty. That means they can complete the duty. Maybe not with as high dps as some people expect, but kick for "low ilevel" was NOT justified.

Only reason would be if they inflated their ilevel with wrong equipment (for example intelligence gear on Bard).

Im glad you havent left because for 1 I really like your perspective on things but 2 how wrong you are. Stating what did happen to me was wrong. I wasnt overgeared yes. I didnt invest in raising the lvl of other classes for CC yes. But seeing as I wasnt toxic, said hello and stated i was new with knowledge of the mechanics AND meeting the ilevel requirements means i possessed the abilities to clear that instance. Difference in game style is a valid reason to kick so they were justified in kicking them if the party agreed that the OP wasn't playing correctly.

People are so easy to jump on the mentor hate bandwagon.

Get Blood for blood, it gets paired with hawk eye for barrage empyreal arrow, Invigorate is a must. These two skills are mandatory as a dps.

I canget into Alexander 9 savage wearing a mix mash of ilevel180 gear and i270 gear. The minimum ilevel was intended to be for people with gear which is roughly of the same ilevel for example if minimum ilevel was 240, it was made for people with mostly i240 gear. The only thing getting you passed the minimum ilevel is your 250 gear. All that ilevel 150 gear doesn't get synched up, so your dps will be hugely hindered because of that discrepancy.
