I've read that he/she's been given some creative control in the past, but yeah, normally the localization team for the languages other than Japanese are at the mercy of what was originally written in Japanese and can't deviate from that much.

これまで検討を続けてきましたが、新生FFXIVでは、
コンフィグから「姓名の両方を表示」や「姓または名のみの表示」など、自由に変更が行えるようになる予定です。
We have been looking into this until now. In FFXIV ARR through configuration you would be able to freely change from displaying full name or just first name.

This one is response to JP thread about spectator mode.
JP thread doesn't go into specifics like the NA thread did so we may hear more from NA rep on the NA thread. I just read below and was like, hold on a sec, NA side had ways to work around this... so I translated the NA post and posted in there below Foxclon's post.

Why hide your subniture Rein?

Bassbar on JP thread asked in beta test phase 3 when we use our existing character if we can level them. Say you got Lv40, Lv50 classes and Lv15 class, what will happen in beta?

They didn't like how it was just image of the subligars... LOL. I loved the previous one with CEO popping his head out but JP admin removed the image :(

tellの方法については、「名前を直接入力」と「名前を直接入力しない方法」の両方を予定しています。
まだ未定部分が多々ありますが、たとえばチャットログに表示されるキャラクターの名前をクリックすることで
tellが行える機能なども様々な方法を検討していますので、詳細情報がお伝えできるようになり次第、改めてお知らせいたします。
For methods of sending /tell we are planning both where you key in the name directly and without the name.
There are still parts not confirmed but we are looking into features to send tell for example by clicking on the name displayed in the chat log. Once we have the details, I will update you all.

The current FINAL FANTASY XIV Forums we are using will be used in ARR as well.
Currently, we don't have any plans of stopping it.

We will update you on this one once we have more information.

This one is regarding the opening movie they released.
Some on the JP forums, including myself. Loved the SE's usual high quality movie and all that, but at same time we felt that if a new player playing XIV watched that movie without knowing what happened before, it's just going to confuse them... why Bahamut and Odin already from beginning!? Why is there a war? Why did those guys suddenly get teleported??? Why do they look so happy when they were at war right before?

The opening movie that's released right now I believe is for beta test or for those transitioning into ARR, this one shows the meaning. Or is the official ARR opening going to be just like this.

新生版では、たとえ対象のプレイヤーがログアウトしていたとしても、
除名や権限の設定変更などの操作を行うことが可能になる予定です。
また、フリーカンパニーのリーダーが一定期間ログインを行わなかった場合、
リーダーの権限が同一フリーカンパニー内の他のメンバーに移動するような機能も検討しています。
In ARR we are planning to make it posssible to remove or change permissions settings for the other plaeyrs even if the other player is logged out. Also we are looking into feature where say if the Free Company leader doesn't login for some time you can move the features/permissions to another Free Company member.

Reinhart, I went back and read your old translations, (no FFXIV means I'm really bored and have a lot of free time) and there is a drastic improvement in the quality of your translations! I guess practicing has really helped you out a ton! The earlier ones were difficult for me to understand, but you have gotten much better at conveying the message across.

No plans for chat bubbles for player characters.

For me the reason I don't want to have chat bubble display is because they are like billboards. You got a flat board with message in it. By doing that it hides the background.

Above comment is one, also if there are many players talking in chat bubbles it's possible that the screen will be very hard to view.

it being said that xbox is being release oct and ps4 in nov and both would have a price tag of 399.99$ is the word right now.
400$ for a new console seem about right price for me just 100$ more then a normal console like ps1,ps2 price tag when they was release.

So, that means that next Xbox comes out first before PS4? Hmm, okay.

Two reasons why I want to see Sony to beat Microsoft.

1) I can finally play all Halo games on my PC since I still don't see the point of buying an Xbox.
2) I can finally play all JRPG games on my PS4 since Microsoft need to stop messing with Japanese developers.

That's my opinion but I know Xbox will win in North America and it's hard for Japanese developers to localize their games but hell with it and just release all third-party games on both systems. :p

While it's definitely a "rumor" since it isn't confirmed yet, it seems like a ridiculously safe bet to say that it will be announced at E3. E3 is the prime venue, and the chances of it being this year are quite high.

Well, no, that is raw numbers. But the PS3 WAS 1000 USD in brazil at launch (and given exchange rates about 2000 BRL).

When that small JP text said May or June, first thing that came into my mind was FFXIV lol. (Friends = SE)
If FFXIV going ot be ready in May then they will announce package with PS4+FFXIV bundle, if not June at E3... that was my guess anyways... doubt it, but not 100% impossible...

That meteor console art someone showed on the forums would be a pretty cool bundle. Wonder how hard it will be to port ps3 games to ps4 (effectively - perhaps SE has it all ready, that would be cool).

I think its possible, but I dont think it would be their main announcement.. FFXIV doesnt have the best reputation for Sony to load out with it. I havent really kept up with the ps4 information though.

Don't forget, there was a gap of 18 months between the unveiling of the PS3 and the retail release of it.

If the PS4 follows suit, an E3 reveal in May will give us a street date of Nov/Dec 2014 for the system.



If SE has any part in it, they will likely show off what appears to be spectacular FFXV CGI trailer, that fades to black at the end, only to reveal that is running in (Surprise!) real-time on the PS4!!1! (or more specifically, on PC hardware similar to what they expect it to be).. Oh, and BTW, its gonna be a PS4 exclusive (queue cheers from Sony fans/reps/etc and dismissive comments from MS and Nintendo reps.)

Either that, or they'll just show off a subtly gimped Agni's Philosophy for the system.

i see both console failing due to the fact they releasing so early the reason ps3 did so great was it had less release issue then xbox. Not if they found a way to release console early and do all the testing so it does not have issue i myself like PC vs console but if i would buy a new console it would be ps4 seeing how the last one i got was ps2 and i always enjoy PS games more then wii,xbox anyways.
