Anyone know why SE may have done that instead of doing some small fixes to it?
They can't fix the issues, much like they couldn't fix animation issues without removing them. Maybe it's to further the retainer system, but I think it's just because they couldn't fix the system and just said screw it and deleted it lol.
Just make items in bazaar not become removed from inventory.
You just solved the 999999999 price items.
I'm not even sure if other problems existed
The only problem with bazaars was you had to be stationary to utilize it and given the display limits and short range of them (you have to be humping the person to even view it) it was just a poorly designed system compared to XI where I can view someone's bazaar from the other side of the city via /check (/c) and still go about my business (walking/running.)
Since they were introduced. You use /check (or /c) (name), if they're still in the same grid as you (which is pretty much one end of the city to the next in smaller zones like Port jeuno) you'll be able to check them and purchase from their bazaars. People use it all the time in port jeuno due to the amount of bazaars that won't show up since it's the hangout spot post Abyssea on many servers.
i'm quite sure it wasn't like that :| maybe i'm wrong
edit: checked with an old friend: you could /check players and move, but if bazaar was too far away the window close, at last pre-abyssea
No one actually uses the bazaar to sell stuff. Its just extra storage room.
Just want to point out in case anyone missed it, they are increasing the size of retainer bazaars from 10 slots to 20, so we are getting double retainer bazaar space at the cost of our personal one.
I only used mine for storage so I can't really complain.
Many LS events have had people put up food/fireworks/etc. for 1 gil in bazaar - easier than trading to everyone.
Wonder if this means they will make changes to repair.
Who cares, nobody buys anything from them. They only get used for storage or for getting duplicate primal drops anyway. I'll take the 25 extra slots per retainer and 10 extra sales slots in the wards over player bazaars any day of the week.
normally the only time i use my bazaar for anything other than storage is just to put food and potions up in my bazaar when around the dungeon areas. they sell decently from there during the time in between runs, but it doesn't really hurt to remove those spots. what does hurt there is losing that 110 inventory spots when you can get 10 items in a single run easily.
somebody missed the most recent list update.
"* Items equipped by players will not count towards the 100 item inventory limit."
it doesn't state gear. it states equipped. so if i am on blm my blm gear i am wearing will not count, but doesn't mention the other gear you will have on you at the time.
edit: here's the link. if you find the part in inventory changes they list in their latest list of changes i'll be glad to retract it. i was just going by their list. go down to inventory changes on the list and see the 3 highlighted in red to see what i mean.

If it's in a gear set, it won't be in your normal inventory slots. Watch the video again, it gets explained in-depth. You can even see that when a gear set is created in the video and they swap out sets that the items that were put into the new gear set don't show back up in your inventory.
yes, that is true. they also haven't stated how those gearsets will be handled. will you have to go back to town to change classes everytime? will crafting/gathering have their own sets as well? how did they decide to handle needing multiple of the same pieces of gear for different gearsets?
You have to earn those gearsets first. You wont just start out with them all, and possibly much of your gear, if not excess materials, will end up on that temp storage npc.
Only what you have equipped before Nov 1 guaranteed to be on your person when ARR launches.
Player bazaars did lead to a wasteful use of energy and resources by having players sit aimlessly in town. Removal of player bazaars, an obtuse system, btw, means they can force log offs for increased server performance if they so choose.
Since I watched the video 3 times to clarify issue like these...
no, why would they change the entire premise of the armory system?
yes
For now, you have to have multiple copies of the sme piece of gear if you want to use it in different sets. However, they are considering allowing players to give an alias to certain pieces of gear to allow that piece to be used in different sets. They have not settled on this yet because the second option could be confusing to players.
Yes, as it stands now you will have to have multiple copies of the same item if you want to use it in different gear sets but there's no reason that second item couldn't be part of a gear set as well, and thus not part of your normal inventory. Seems like a simple concept to me. Stop trying to make mountains out of molehills.
I think the better question is... Who the fuck browses bazaars that aren't for a retainer in the wards?
Anyone that says "I do" is a liar.
I really dont have a problem with the removal of player bazaars. Once people earn their extra gearsets and put gear into them it will work itself out. Well, the people that are all 50 that do almost every class and have near-capped out inv like myself. Wont be an issue for everyone. It would behoooove SE to start with materials then go to gear when moving stuff to temp NPC.
............ *stare*
that's for sure lol. i know we actually have started seeing more and more if the item has over 20 and no melds are shown in ud people have started putting it up in the limsan wards. it was nice to see the other day looking for prices for someone and was able to find a hq triple meld in the limsa wards after looking and it was 20 nq as the only items showing in ud.
edit: we may need to do a community thing like we did where before they updated the search bar when we added the 1,2,3 at the end of the price and put our melded items in another city. at least that way we could have a general idea of where to look.
Theyre fixing the search for items in 2.0 i belive. maybe all the items no matter how many can be displayed by then.
Hopefully they completely unify the wards as well, along with implementing cross-city-wide chat channels for Buy/Sell/Trade/LFG... It'll spread out the population which is much needed.
Reading about these changes I'm wondering if they are still going with this retarded market wards idea or will they finally put a full fledged Auction House.
