I just want to see more housing and better decorating capability without people saying use a 3rd party tool to do it man! All the cool kids doing it.
Would like for them to add tenants for apartments and fc chambers also.

As someone who wants and benefits from a more accessible raid content, I'm not seeing a problem with that response. If the devs do not provide a more accessible raid content and I want to access raid content, then I would be tempted to raid in other games, assuming there is any with an accessible mode.
Been playing since ARR actively, back then the content was acceptable for how small the playerbase was.
But the people that defend legit blatant constant re use of gearsets and healer/caster being one set dyed black or white are genuinely asspulling and moving goalposts.
Just because we had it when there were servers with 1 person owning entire wards of houses from how dead it all was does not mean its totally okay to keep budgeting the game around this.
They even stated male viera was made in the spare time of employees, not even on company time lmao and people still pretend they spent any resources on that.
????????????
Sorry, I couldn't get past this point. I don't want to imagine how the others will be...
For this expansion we initially got 5 new gear sets... like every other expansion? (Though, unlike previous expansions, this time the new dungeon sets ARE dyeable).
1-AF gear.
2-First tomestone gear.
3-Garlean dungeon gear.
4-Thavnair dungeon gear.
5-Gatherer & crafter gear.
Shortly after, we got the Pandaemonium updates which come with 3 more new gear sets:
6-Asphodelos gear.
7-New tomestone gear.
8-Lv.1 crafted glamour gear.
I'm going to guess you're just trolling. It's hard to take the forums seriously these days...
No it's not. If I gave the Dev thorough feedbacks about the game and they respond to me
"Well if you don't like it, go play something else." I'd probably unsub because they obviously do not care.
That was a poor example you gave though, no offense.
I believe Yoshi P cares about us, I honestly can tell that he does. The issue is the players on HERE are so toxic against each other
that one tiny bit of negativity is shots fired and you best run for it or possibly getting banned because you don't see this game
as the Holy Grail of all games. So what happens is the forum becomes a brawl and the feedback gets ignored because the lack of civility.
Some people say they don't listen to us here but can you blame them for ignoring us when people are getting attacked?
I highly doubt the JP forums are a circus like this one is.
This game isn't perfect, I know people don't want to hear that but people are allowed to have a 2 cents. No one here wants this game to fail
and the reason why we provide feedback is because we want the game to grow and expand. I mean, we're still in the same content rotation for 8 years
but now we're losing more stuff with nothing to make up for it. Some things are lost relics (Chocobo Companions, Squadrons, GC ranks...) couldn't hurt to go back and fluff up stuff too.
With how booming SHB was and now EW, I just have to wonder where all the money is going to?
It doesn't show in-game so where is it? It's like they're on a tight budget for some reason.
It is one thing when the players tell each other that, how ever when there is less content in each expansion, and the director of the game is saying to go play a different game that is another story.
This game has seriously lacked in content with each additional expansion, the number of dungeons we got post MSQ in ARR is more than the total number of dungeons we got in SHB.
Everyone that complained about raids should be more accessible got there way with normal mode raids. If you have a problem with harder content not being accessible to you, perhaps you should try harder at the game as you obviously are not able to do the content.
Some people may see this as a good thing, but it can also be a problem. We are 5 expansions in and this formula has become way to repetitive. To the point where the dungeons even feel uninspired and boring. Every dungeon is now 2 trash groups > Boss > Repeat.
Frankly, Im getting sick and tiered of hearing THIS. As if people think they arn't allowed to have an opinion just because people disagree with it. Its pretty freaking childish.
This game isn't perfect, any person who can view things rationally knows FFXIV isn't this perfect game that can do no wrong, and dont think nobody is allowed to Criticize it.
Both of these Mentalities need to freaking stop already.
Both sides are allowed to voice an opinion; and to agree and/or Disagree on it.
FFXIV is not Perfect. It has problems like anything and everything. Perfection is an Illusion.
To each their own. Ive been here since HW. Ive ALWAYS had something to do. Even now, there is plenty to do besides Savage.
And when I do everything I care about, I have an ALT I can do it all over again with. Great way to make Money :D
And Ive made quite alot of Friend Groups.
Wilful ignorance or trolling. Can't even tell anymore rofl, but I'll bite.
Garlond Tools is a great resource, honey. Maybe you should use it before making these statements...? The poster you quoted wasn't wrong (they didn't mention Tower of Zot or Ktisis, but that's obvious). The only thing you're sorta right about is some crafted pieces sharing appearances with previous sets, but that is nothing new and is par for the course with MMOs. It's bound to happen at some point, and the work load would be heavier (and take longer to release) if they never reused some assets. Saying that everything is reused just makes you look like a fool.
Well you posted bait, what do you expect esp when you are wrong on most counts.
No change from past expansions here, I think Stormblood was the first to reign in the overabundance of gearsets every 2 levels. Reskinning older gearsets for white quality, and dungeon drops.Quote:
Gearsets
In this new expansion we have one set of "new" gear, which is the AF gear for each class. Everything else is re-used from either SHB or STB, some of which isn't even dyeable. Where has the effort been in this? The new crafted gear is a reuse of PVP gear which the majority of people didn't even like.
Why change? it's minor optional content used for leveling and the earning toys.Quote:
Music
Fate bosses still have the ARR music... Why?
Why? Not needed, having a few new scores for the raid is good, having a new score for every version of every fight is exsessive.Quote:
Raid tier doesn't have a second theme.
Here's a hint, every song in every Final Fantasy Game has reused music from previous Final Fantasy Games, it's not an issue, hells every song in the game is a call back to something from another game.Quote:
Lot's of reused music throughout the expansion, the new map "Dungeon" hasn't even changed even though it's a completely different lore based area.
This is a non complaint, each area is big enough for the content it contains and the set dressing, they don't have to recreate tatooine for each new zone. (Star Wars Galaxies an early Sony MMORPG use to make worlds so big it could take days to cross them, besides a few random spawns between cities, there was nothing but an endless walk unless you used a shuttle service. It was a terrible design choice in 2003 and it is still a terrible design choice.Quote:
Zones
Ultima Thule is the smallest zone we have EVER had based on walkable terrain. Labyrinthos is also tiny compared to the likes of Heavenswards areas or even Stormblood. The Ruby sea? All zones in EW have at LEAST half of the area available to explore. The Mare Lamentorum was hailed as a completely new world for us to explore and yet it's as big as both areas of Uldah put together.
Now I am not going to disagree much here, as I would love to see the game fully voice acted ala Star Wars The Old Republic, but my hope is that they would start with VO the MSQ and all Cut Scenes first, then if they could all optional content. BTW Raids are optional content.Quote:
Voice acting
So much fail, do you have a degree in this? I do. And no for an MMO with a custom engine like FFXIV, and WOW they can't just willy nilly use someone elses servers to host the game. They have to order custom servers, with exacting specifications, and then they have to install their own custom Server OS (Usually based in Linix, not sure what SE uses) Their servers have to play well on Sony's Network and on the regular Internet. You can't use sign up for a Amazon Server and do that. Nor would Square or any large company use a service like Amazon to host their games. ESP when Amazon has a record of stealing code and content.Quote:
Server issues
Need I say more? The excuse of covid doesn't fit when I can easily go onto a server hosting company and pay for a server to be setup to the same level as the servers which Square use in their datacenters in the EU. With almost 24 hour deployable time. This can easily be seen
Also the biggest issue with ordering Servers right now, is the lack of Usable Silicon, its a real world issue that is starting to affect many industries.
All your opinions, and most of us disagree, if you dislike the game, you can go play something else, you might be happier.Quote:
Story issues
I would say you have lost the passion, and should leave, because you clearly are becoming Toxic.Quote:
Overall, I absolutely adore this game and it's been a complete passion of mine for near enough a decade now. ...
This game has had server issues since launch. Blaming the shortages is a convenient excuse for the present, how ever it does not change the past issues that are just hidden behind skill stacks vs skill durations. The fact that this was done means they have no intention of fixing the issues with the servers just adding more so that more people can get online. How ever by the time they go through with the plan most of the players will have quit as the queues are already getting smaller and smaller every day.
This is toxic, telling some one to leave is more toxic and giving an opinion about obvious problems with the game. Besides Yoshi P has already told us all to go play other games, and that they respect our time. Really it is just an nice sounding excuse for a lack of content.
Just practically like every other game then. The sillicon shortage is what is known as an exacerbation. These problems were always going to occur. Albeit not as significantly if practically every industry wasn't impacted by it. Why else would they add servers in both Stormblood and Shadowbringers, yet not decide to do such for inarguably their most anticipated expansion to date? The issues with the servers are largely attributed to being at capacity. You will only be increasing that capacity by adding new servers.
Yes saying you're free to play other games and enjoy a wider variety of games is called respecting your time and not wanting you to be enslaved by the game through monumental and pointless grinds. I for one enjoy knowing that I can take a couple of weeks, enjoy new release games and then return afterwards and simply pick back up
I dunno if they work anything like our company a new server must go through extreme IT security protocols and must meet already existing requirements. In addition to that, this would be a new supplier. Do you have any idea how approaching a new supplier could be so painful like this?
Most companies have something we call anit corruption, anti bribery and anti fraud acts in palce when it comes to new suppliers. You cannot just chose whomever you want off the shelf. You need to have a competition. Contact at least 2-3 suppliers to ensure you are compliant (e.g.: you need to be able to proof that you made all the effort to ensure there is proper segregation of duties, and no conflict of interest). You also go through heavy negotiations for contracting, not just the price, but the length of the contract, the management of potential issues, the management of disputes.
Procurement has not just fraud risk but also reputational risk. If your supplier is bad and fucks up, the players won't care. What we will see is that something is not working and reputation will drop...
Then if you manage to get a new supplier, you will need approval from 2-3 level depending on company. But before that they also need to show that they meet due diligence. This may also take time.
I also would not downplay the shortage of supply... it makes everything more difficult as the supplier can push prices higher because they know that their products/ services are in need, and if FFXIV team inside Squere has a budget that cannot allow this for the year, again, this will take many approvals before a higher priced supplier can be contracted... Also these prices are not contracted for 1 month. The conracts can vary from 1-10 years... and sometimes its really hard to negotiate new prices with the current supplier, and if you just leave whenever you are over the "shortage" you break contract and pay heavy fees...
I am sure they are looking for something as we got recent news that they finally can introduce new centers. But I can fully understand why it takes time.
This had nothing to do with the issues I brought up. The amount of data centers and servers for people to log into has no relation to ping issues, total server space issues which limit things like glamour storage, and armory storage. Do you think they actually got rid of belts because they don't show up on your characters? They did it to address a complaint that we did not have enough slots for weapons and rings for the number of classes available. They got rid of belts and reallocated the inventory space due to server space problems. It's a big reason why we don't have instanced housing like other games are able to do, why we have limits on glamour plates and other things.
Yes and the increase of server space / capacity has very little to do with the issue you're outlining in that case - That is more of an issue for programming. Which need I might add rewriting all of their code or very large segments of it would be an ongoing endeavour if they ever elect to address it. - and no you just tried to dismiss the issue as if it were never a valid reason in the first place.
Objectively speaking belts had no place existing in the game. They have very little glamour functionality and the removal of them would require reflecting the formula and how older content scales. In other words they would need to address each individual expansion and encounters to ensure they're still adequately tuned with the removal of entire gear spaces. Something that is entirely a lot more pragmatic to do when they're already readdressing the formula and doing downscaling for numbers. Sorry bud but that's just called 'killing 2 birds with 1 stone' - How they increase it is irrelevant. The fact remains they increased it without compromising functionality
The biggest problem with this game is outside of fomo items from events and such there is absolutely no reason to do content as it releases. Absolutely none. If you wait until the next expansion comes out you can get the best gear from that previous expansion easier and faster than they did with it was current. It lacks a reason outside of story to really want to keep up with the Jones's. Every expansion is exactly the same. It's been the same since Heavensward. The best gear is cheap as hell once the new expansion is live. Seriously if you don't care about bleeding edge content or pvp who cares? That's the issue, but on the flip side you have Wow where not playing feels like you're neglecting your spouse. We need a good middle ground and neither game has achieved it yet.
Oh, I agree, the game has some issues I'd like to see addressed (glamour, having to close windows to switch crafting classes, others)... but the formula they've been following has resulted in an MMO that continues to grow, with no signs of stopping. Doesn't mean they shouldn't try new things ever, but you not liking how things are done doesn't = problem. No reason to play as content releases? What? Tell that to the many people that stay subbed because there's still tons of things they haven't done yet/the people who resub just for the new content... You partly acknowledged it, but being a game where you don't feel obligated to burn yourself out to stay relevant has only been in the games' favor, not a detriment.
EDIT: I (and clearly, many others) enjoy doing content when it's still fresh and new to everyone. We're all making the same dumb mistakes, we're discovering things at the same time. The first week of a patch is always my favorite because everyone is on equal footing, and nothing has been spoiled yet.
It hasn't been great for years, but what is your point? That this is the least crappy of them all? Not even remotely accurate, and FFXIV is clearly doing something right, because other MMOs that have come and gone (and there have been A LOT, lets not pretend here) and crashed and burned for multiple reasons... yet this one keeps going.
EDIT for your edit: Except it clearly is the reason. The WoW exodus only affected things this year. FFXIV has had large increases for every expansion and its been consistent, it's just this year that has been an outlier which no one could have planned for. It was a perfect storm.
You use "deflection" a lot, and I don't think you understand what that actually means.
This isn't a fact, it's an opinion, and a non-argument. FFXIV is hardly the "lesser of all evils", and that fact that you keep pushing it as such IS disingenuous. I'm also willing to bet I've played MMOs longer than you, and experienced some of a best and worst there is to offer. This is so far from the latter, but keep wielding that edge, I guess.
Obviously it's an opinion. A non-argument? Lmao. It's just as much an opinion as your "FFXIV is the lesser of all evils". The irony of pushing your opinion as fact, while calling someone elses a "non-argument". Lay off the ego.
And no, I do not use deflection "A lot". Also, learn what disingenuous means.
I'm not saying the game is meritless and it doesn't deserve its success, but it's been playing the same hand since Heavensward. There's gonna be 12 raids, 12 savages raids, 3 24 man raids and some from of relic grind. Oh and also the sprinkling of dungeons every story patch. We know this. To me it's just stale. Also I agree that part of it's success as of recently is Blizzards lack of caring for it's playerbase. Whenever the next Wow expansion comes out 10 million people will jump on it like flies on a turd. But recently that power has diminished. Honestly there needs to be two big mmos. I don't want this game to have free reign at the top. We the players need the competition. To say otherwise is lunacy.
It's got to be doing something right when content creators from another MMO who were visibly stressed out over that game come here and are suddenly happy and having a good time.
If it was just another pile of crap (even a least objectionable one), they wouldn't stick around. They'd be streaming other games since there are hundreds of games out there to choose from.
If you're not enjoying it, then you're not enjoying it. Everyone has different tastes. That doesn't make it a crappy game.
Speaking of friends all of mine unironically abandoned this game for Classic Wow. My friends list is empty unless I want to roll up an Orc. And no offense to this games playerbase, but I'm not being showered with friendship opportunities. That is unless I abandon my ability to be honest and shill with them. Personally I can't stand this community.
That's not what is said. It's a good game, that is rife with issues. But the player increase is greatly increased due to the fact there isn't many other good MMO's out there right now. I mean, the Green Bay Packers won their division, but their competition is the Vikings, Lions, and Da Bears.
You tend to, actually, yes. Also, throwing around the word "ego" when yours is one of the larger ones I've seen on this forum is a special brand of ridiculous. I'm well aware of what disingenuous means, and considering many of your posts seem like a bizzare mix of genuine belief and trolling, the word usage is correct.
My saying "FFXIV is hardly the lesser of all evils" also is hardly an opinion (or at the very least, not an isolated one), as there actually are games that are objectively worse... else they would be doing much better, or in the case of others would still exist. I'm sorry reality doesn't match what you tell yourself.
This. I honestly don't understand why this is so difficult to grasp for some people. Gonna bow out here, since this poster has shown time and again elsewhere there's no point trying to discuss anything with them, and I'd rather not derail things further. They just want to "win", it seems.
i have no idea what to say about WOW as i've never played it, but i will agree that this game is not as social as it is hyped up to be. If you unsub, people won't talk to you anymore even on discord. I think gone are the days when people liked to make connections thru online games.
There's also something quite particular about FFXIV that I don't see in other games. A lot of people that play it barely plays other MMOs, sometimes not even a lot of other games, I would say (at least in my experience). So while it has its qualities, I don't think that it's popularity is solely because of its MMO aspects and direction. It appeals to a greater variety of audiences. While I, of course, enjoy the game, the MMO aspect of it is probably some of the weakest aspects of it - at least for me.
Mind you, this doesn't mean that the game is bad per se (otherwise I wouldn't be playing it still if there was nothing here that is interesting), but I also feel like it's a very particular type of game. And if you come here with a more MMO-oriented mindset, you'll maybe feel a bit disappointed unless you stick till you find something that grabs you - this doesn't apply for everyone, of course.
My biggest issue is having a different opinion seems to just seems ostracize me. If like so what I didn't like Endwalker as long as you don't ask me my honest opinion about it I'm not going to bring it up. But I joined a new FC and I spoke my mind and now I'm like the red headed step child. I did nothing to them outside of being honest and myself and now I'm struggling with just leaving the game entirely. I've tried this song and dance too many times. I just want friends who play the same game as me and are chill. I will literally stay subbed forever if I have a reason to login a family to come home to. But every FC either pushes into their discord to abandon the people who won't. To expect you to voice chat with total strangers in order to move up the social circle. What happened to "Anybody want to do roulettes?" Seriously I'm just tired of this song and dance. I've joined like 10 FCs last year and even this new one is a dud. I just want other people who want to play with me. It's so frustrating.
Hypocrisy is your strong suit it seems. These are forums. People are allowed to discuss things whether you agree or not. "My saying "FFXIV is hardly the lesser of all evils" also is hardly an opinion, as there actually games that are objectively worse". Way to contradict yourself. Unless you aren't filtering your critique of the game through your own personal emotion, then yes, it's an opinion. Instead of attempting to throw vague insults, by referencing other threads that have no bearing in this one, try attacking the argument.
Eh, although I still find the social aspect of this game kinda bad, I have found the weirdest, craziest, most passive-aggressive and head-in-the-sand people and most amazing people I have *ever* meet here. So I would say that at some point you have to keep searching till you vibe with a certain group, not unlike other social activities. I've found a lot of pettiness, weird drama, people that think they're edgy anime protagonists and overly-sensitive snowflakes... But, as with every community, there's cool people out there too. Usually the most controversial ones are very loud but that doesn't mean that's all there is.
I would advise searching for big FCs that have something you identify with and also have new blood, so you're not stuck with people that log in just to AFK in limsa. And, as always, make an effort to talk in the chat.
I agree with you. I'm just tired of running into those players EVERYWHERE. It's like I'm a casual I just want to chill. "Hey have you ever tired Savage?" It's like a girl getting pressured into sex. It's like feel me out before you ask into the no. And don't ostracize me because I said no. It's horrendous. I play on one of the worst servers for progression for a reason. I don't want to do it. Anyway I'm ranting.
I found this surprising tbh. Most of the players I know hardly ask for savage. Many of them are actually casual to a fault and got inside the second life hellhole too deep for my tastes (at this point i'm not even sure if the second life crowd is casual since they play this game even more than these that try hard content... but whatever) - dealing with these people really burned my patience and created a terrible vision of this game's community in my mind. If anything, most raiders tend to be more down-to-earth. But it doesn't help that everywhere there's people telling you how nice everyone is, and you kinda feel like you're actually going crazy for not feeling that.
Taking a huge break from FFXIV actually helped me in that regard. I don't blame you for feeling this way though, it's not easy to find a group you might feel comfy with - but these people are hard to come by in other aspects of life as well.
