I think anyone who has any sort of goals to him is a social failure.. lol

That is awesome, if you want to do that. Really it is... but why should you expect people who don't want to 100% commit themselves to something to do so or get out and off the game? It'd be nice if casual and hardcore players could all have what they want to be honest. It seems the party hard core players though want to make casual play not beneficial at all? The only thing I am left to think is that you like to flaunt the e-peen that you were happy to give up so much of your RL time for a set or even just one item at people who don't have the time you do to play. I actually am a shut in btw, my boyfriend isn't he works 10 or more hours a day, which seemed fine with this game, but the nerf on leve SP and rewards/gil you get, it hurts a casual player's progression, especially when party players can spam instances. I could easily put 200% into a game but I'd rather not leave him in the dust, and I'd rather just get to play how I'd like to and not have to deal with the elitist statements from people who think I'm lower than them cause I play with people cause I want to, not cause I can benefit from kissing up to a big EG LS (When those start that is.) and so on.
You know whats funny.. all you complainers just complain... yet still keep on playing.. does it feel good to complain about everything?
im very curious.. you all make such bold statements and arguments emo raging and everything... but yet you still play...
whats going on there?
funny fact is, if all the complainers were to leave this game, it would drop dead in a matter of days/weeks XD
OT:
OP, wanna add "Let's close this Forum down" to your list?
i mean, personal attacks and such that happen in almost every thread now helps noone aswell lol
Actually I'm just holding out to see what happens when they start charging people. They said they'd hold off until the game was everything they wanted us to experience. I am trying to hope it doesn't turn into FFXI-2.0 with shinier graphics. For not there are things okay about the patch, heck I'm a lnc so they seem to want them more than pugs. But I still think it's unfair for other classes, and to make things class specific, hopefully the next big patch will fix this and put us all on even ground. If not, I'm not staying, you'll be happy to hear.
Why would I quit the game over a few minor complaints, especially when the game, being a MMO and all, changes throughout the years? Why would I want to take away my 10 months of playing just because of a few minor problems in 1 update, especially when SE has already said that most of them will be fixed in the coming 2 updates? Btw, complaining about complainers complaining makes you a complainer as well so why don't you take your own advice and quit?
ya but i just wanna know why they complain so much yet take no action.. isnt it stressful to be angry all the time?
....you do realize that complaining is what got Yoshi-P to take the reins over Tanaka...right? Complaining is what is going to get us a job system. Complaining is what got us better gear. Complaining is what got us these raids. Complaining is what got us a better (though still skeletonized) battle system. Why not complain when something is wrong? If no one complained, we would still be playing the same game that we were at release, with the possible addition of a few more broken classes.
I agree with all points apart from the R45 dungeon since I'm not that high yet. But dude you gotta realize all anyone does on here anymore is criticize each other. Even in posts that are trying to simply collect ideas people get in a pissing match.
Out of curiosity are you the same Dubont from Remora/Leviathan? If so than anyone who says he is a bad player is sadly mistaken.
it's a logic neither you nor i nor anyone will ever understand.
maybe they love the final fantasy series so hard that they can't find the right words to describe what they have on their mind?
i think complaining isn't a bad thing, aslong there is a valid reason behind it.
everyone has his own reason and opinions they want to voice out, but sometimes it's really hard to sort that out, especially in a forum filled with so many players wishing for the game to go so many different paths, yet SE can only decide on one.
and if that path isn't what some have hoped for......well complaining even gets worse.
You might not suck but your tank does. If he uses his abilities in the correct order at the right time, hate shouldn't ever be an issue. Assuming he has MRD and PUG leveled. Killed the ogre over 20 times and had a hate issue maybe twice that was quickly remedied. Even died one time and got hate back.
There you have it. I can confirm Dubont is not a Jackass. But regardless I think we should wait till 1.19 or 1.2 to pass any judgement on content difficulty since we won't have the balancing done till then.
I'm Syn by the way. Used to nuke puddings next to you for hours on end.
Judging by what Dubont posted earlier in this thread (CoP being broken and nigh impossible) I would disagree here. Though that's just my opinion.
CoP's difficulty was perfect. The only "broken" parts were things like having to farm Salts and CCB pumps all over again after each attempt. Other than that, CoP was a perfect example of difficult content.
When you learn of these mechanics and figure them all out. Then they'll present items and gear you will need to bring out the most in the system, hopefully it won't be like XI where you spend 6 months or possibly years sometimes for a piece of needed gear so your class can be stronger as you play with these mechanics... Lazy because I am a shut in, or lazy because I don't like putting that much effort into something that is supposed to be for leisure and fun. You already put effort to play, when you work and bring home a check to pay to play the game in the first place (when they start charging.) And being lazy for being a shut in, there are reasons I can't leave my home easily. But when my man and I want to go to a movie and he makes it able for me to go do something outside the house, I'd like to do so without coming back to the game only to hear a bunch of elitists talk about how it was a "Once in a lifetime opportunity missed" cause I wasn't there for a boss fight or something. Once in a life time opportunities in a game? Really!? if you think you need those to be happy maybe you should see a shrink. I can't understand why hardcore players want casual ones to just be left in the dust. Answer how you all benefit from this? It'd be an easy solution that wouldn't interfere with your play at all, make leves, and quests give more sp, gear rewards (on par with the party ones) and gil... so they can keep up with the hardcore players, then in the EG we can all play together and be on even ground. Is it that important that you get so much more for having more time to play than another? If you're playing to have fun and nothing else, what is the significance of wanting things to hurt the casual players progression?
They were changed years later because most people completed it by then and it was difficult for players who have not yet completed it to find groups to do so. So they made it easier and more accessible for those players to catch up.
Just to clear up any misconceptions about that.
Yeah the mammet fight was ridiculous. And it wasn't broken or challenging-it was stupid. You needed certain classes to do any story in XI and if you weren't those classes you didn't get to enjoy any story. I guess no one cared in XI, but as an RPG fan I did. Yet after the mammet fight I stopped caring about the idiotic adventures of alma and prishe or even following the story. I stopped doing it till I lvled drg, and then I HAD to get the raja's ring to even be wanted in any team situation as well as other dumb hoops to jump through to get proper gear, and don't say go to the AH, a drg couldn't without spending millions, even then they still wouldn't equal even an AH samurai. I guess it's fine if you like the trend of all these jobs being the end all be all, and not enjoying the ones you've picked to play, or if you're not interested in the ones people all highly desire. No one played XI as an RPG it was like a FPS thing with exp... they ignored the story and only wanted rewards, I know why I did that's because it's hard to keep interest when the last CS you saw was 6 months prior. In any case, I've had it with the debate, if hardcore players want to make this game into another Time Vampire XI, whatever. Take action someone said? Do what, we're not the ones who have the final say in the end and SE will do what is more profitable. Which is to keep the player wasting time doing things so they can do the real things they want to in a game. Sounds like not much time but why not log your idle time seeking party, or any other time you've spent doing something that felt more like work than play, and then compare it at the end to see how much the ridiculous system has stolen from you. Bye!
Have 95% of the community in XI even attempted to fight PW yet? Are 95% of the community verifiably interested in fighting PW to begin with? Of that 95% that hasn't defeated him *yet*, how many will at some point in the future, instead of giving up? I know I was never interested in fighting him. I know plenty of people who weren't either. I know others who thought it would be cool if they did, but weren't feeling "left out" of anything if they didn't.
The same thing applies to this dungeon. Are 95% of the community even at a point where they could attempt him if they wanted to? Are 95% interested in fighting him? Of that 95% how many of them simply haven't beaten him yet, but will once they've had the opportunity?
There are far too many variables involved with that 95% you speak of for you to make any kind of definitive argument based on it.
In order for a statistic like 95% of the population to have any meaning what-so-ever, you'd have to first figure out what percentage of the community even *wants* to fight and defeat the thing to begin with.
You don't know those statistics, nor could you. So, attempting to build an argument on such assumed data is pure conjecture.
Serious question for you.. Not trolling what-so-ever.
When people like MeowieWowie and others have faced the same exact mobs in the same exact location under the same exact circumstances (ie. ogre uses the same attacks, ghosts use the same attacks, etc), and have successfully defeated it, multiple times, even posting videos and screenshots of it, how can you conclude anything other than that your group is simply not doing something correctly during the fight?
Occam's Razor paraphrased: All things being equal, the simplest solution is usually the right one.
Considering this fight is the same (or equal) for all who take it on, the simplest solution as to why some are defeating it while you and others aren't, is that some are successfully executing an effective strategy, while some aren't.
If your mages are taking 1k+ damage from an attack that Meowie's mages only incur ~500 or so from, then that should raise an immediate red flag. The better question to ask, to me, is "How are your mages equipped/buffed prior to going into the fight?" There's obviously something different between his mages' setup and yours if the difference in damage is that great. That one detail could make all the difference for you.
It could be something like poor timing.
I'm gonna totally not go out on a limb here and assume that Meowie and those in his group, along with others who have successfully defeated the ogre are not super-human, possessing skills that no other mere mortal can dream of having.
They figured out a strategy that works, they've executed that strategy and they've succeeded.
If Meowie and others have done it without SE having to even "slightly nerf" it, then so can you and your group.
Shit.. if I were at the point where I could fight the thing and I was having that much trouble, I'd be trying to pick Meowie's brain to get some kind of tips or any kind of info that would help me figure out what I'm not doing that he did, or vice versa.
I wouldn't be throwing up the white flag and basically admitting defeat by asking SE to make it easier, even by "a little bit".
My point is... If people are succeeding at the fight as-is, then there's no need to nerf it because it's clearly quite possible as-is.
Then explain why others are facing that same AOE opening attack and using that same ENM system and succeeding.
If the system is broken, why have others been able to successfully, and consistently, defeat it regardless?
What is so special about others playing this game that they can do something you can't?
Here's a question:
Why when people beat content they're "elitist", which is derogatory, but people who can't even get close to a win, why can't we say they suck? If you can think of a better term than "suck" feel free, like "incompetent" or something, but I don't get why people can get away with calling everyone elitist by default and then get all upset when the obvious conclusion is that they blow.
Because people who have placed them self in the role of "underdog" feel they're the only ones with the right to say such things, would be my guess.
I've been called elitist for suggesting people improve their skills to overcome a challenge they were having trouble with, even though I hadn't yet overcome it myself and stated as much.
It's in the same "non-rebuttal" category as "go back to WoW".
Another would be simply that they're sore losers and need some kind of way to "get back" at those who have - for whatever reason, legit or otherwise - "crossed them". These days, someone calling another player "elitist" in gaming circles is basically on par with telling someone "Oh yeah? Well you're stupid!" as a response to a statement they can't otherwise rebut.
Sorry but 3 vokes and 2 WS's (including time to TP to do those WS's) is at least 4000 threat in the new system... the most a Cure3 can do is 1000. So either you are exaggerating or lying. 3 vokes, if you assume all Provoke II, would also take 40 seconds but a tank most likely will die at that point without any heals.
Curaga is insane threat atm and should never be used (3000-4000 depending on how much isn't over healing). I think while tanking I generate about 8000 threat per minute in the new system. Healers spam healing can generate something around 15000 in 20 seconds (and go OOM in the process).
This means? Control yourself, make tank self heal more, make DPS heal themselves etc. You cannot just crazily spam anymore.
Also Accomplice is now the strongest threat ability in the game. All DPS and all tanks should work on getting it and use on their healers on cooldown (and Chameleon afterwards). It cuts threat in half of the person you are using it on and transfers it to you, since DPS threat generation is rather small compared to tanks / healers atm the DPS can use it on healers while the tanks is on CD.
Provoke does do what it's supposed to do. It doesn't do what you expect it to do. There's a difference.
I beat the entirety of CoP as paladin. Prior to any of the nerfs that were applied. 6 tries for mammets, second try for airship. I don't believe any of the fights were broken.
Yeah people need to get off their high horse about easy mode though, this isn't hard mode, this is mp sink mode, its not even mp management actually, its just a sink. most of the people complaining didn't think the game was hard before, and wanted it to get harder, and every idiot on the forums says "you QQ cause its not ez mode", it really makes you look stupid when you cop things down to that simple when someone posts more than 5 things about what he/she really didn't like that were pretty constructive, that same "tldr" "QQezmode" guy, will go flame someone in another forum about "not being constructive" which is ironic.
The number one problem with this forum is people cannot just sit back and say "people didn't like this patch, well we all disagree sometimes" instead they were like "omg i love this patch and every effing has to"
You bring up valid points, the ogre though I heard that items help a huge deal in this fight, but nothing can be done about mage wipe unless you've done it before and are ready for it haha. I bet they will nerf the dungeons, but to the point where those asking for a small nerf go "OMG WTF, this was too much of a nerf"
Also for a battle system as healer, saying let the tank and dps heal themselves from time to time is not okay to us. Just like saying "let the mage take hate to use barbs" still irks tanks to no end. In XI the PLD would cure himself to gain hate, it wasn't even a real cure, it was just for enmity, in XIV the tank/dd would be healing themselves for legit reasons, and I'm not okay with that, a healer in the game should be able to manage all curing with at least single target cures, and manage hate properly to the point where the dd/tank doesn't have to cure themselves or else enmity is broken imo. A game should never revolve around a cure every now and then that is 60% less potent, as a legitimate strategy, that dd/tank self cure is "oh shit moment" only.
You don't have to heal yourself to maintain hate....
It helps but it's not a core factor to it.
Suggest again that they have to nerf the dungeon and I will f*cking kill you.
They told it was DIFFICULT, and that's what everybody here wanted. Now get your party up with your best men and women, Go there and make chops out of those monsters!
Lets try to recap what is going on here.
1. Players are basing their nerfs and buffs based on only 1-2 encounters, because those are the current 'endgame.'
2. Bad players run in front of the tank.
3. Bad players stand next to the ghosts (No, they do NOT one shot you. Stop exaggerating).
4. Bad melee DPS stand RIGHT next to the bosses when they CHARGE THEIR 5 SECOND LONG AoE SKILL instead of walking away.
5. Melee DPS constantly standing in front/Behind of bosses known to have frontal and reverse cone attacks, EVERY time.
6. Mages and Ranged DPS seeing a 'red hate bar' and doesn't slow down or stop attacking.
Did I get it all?
Dubont you and your group just suck. Mp management and enmity is fine i agree with a small tweak in helping gld's maintain hate but our shell kills ogre everytime we recently 6 manned it and have killed batraal its you not the mechanics of the game
