Because it's what they have leveled.
Because they were in the zone doing something else that required being on the DPS role (ala ATMA/FATE BOOK etc farming)

And most importantly, because the content wasn't designed to be TANK/WHM only.

But typically, those not coming as either tank or heals are doing it because they either don't have those specific roles leveled, or because they are also doing something else as DD while farming Hunts.

To be completely fair, not everyone have tank or healer lvl. Some people are dps for lives.

Sadly this is what I've resorted to for DPS'ing an A or S rank if I'm already where I can change class with no cooldown since I don't have a tank or WHM at 50, it lets me use Flash pretty much instantly with no MP concerns after tagging it with an instant:
- Class: Lvl 50 Arcanist
- Cross class ability: Flash (you really can cross-class Flash onto base Arcanist class, hell you can even cross class it onto Conjurer.)
- Pet: Topaz Carbunkle on Sic (for enmity attacks)
- Hit target with Bio (because it's an Instant and can't afford to waste any cast times on abilities that actually do damage vs. earn you more credit), then simply spam Flash, Flash, Flash, Flash, etc. until you need MP, then Aethyrflow and Flash, Flash, etc...though realistically target will be dead long before you have MP issues.
- Monster defeated by the shining white glare from your grimoire, job well done.

I've seen plenty of people that I know came right from town (or at the very least, teleported into a nearby sanctuary) and I know have tank/heal classes go in as DPS. That's what I don't understand. What you end up with is a ton of people crying about how fast the mobs die while playing classes that make the mobs die faster. xD

I just gave up on hunting in gilgamesh for the next month or so until it slows down a bit. If you're not using third party software you're just not getting there in time.

This rubbish about yelling for early pullers ? well maybe if more people would scout and stop waiting in town for others to do the work, why do people that find the mob have to tell you where it is and where do you draw the line at waiting ?

But as people seem to have to be spoon feed this is not going to happen any time soon!! so the only way I can see to help, would be make this boss harder to kill, my gear has increased but the HP on the mobs has not!!
Or make it that you have to farm spawn items to pop a S rank that should sort the lazy players, but I am sure people will whine that they can not farm the items.
Or to really slow the hunts down level sync all the gear to the mobs level and make the mobs a fight again and not just a mass murder by players

Untrue. If you're actively hunting (as in, actually going to the zones where the hunts are going to spawn and looking for them), it's quite easy to get there in time, and I say this as someone with average loading times so bad that there's a running joke in my FC about me always being stuck in loading hell.

People really need to chill out with the whole "everybody who finds a hunt needs to hold it" mentality. Nobody's obligated to hold something for you, especially somebody who doesnt know you even exist until you start complaining. I sure as hell ain't gonna bend over backwards to appease some random stranger just because their jimmies get rustled when they miss out on something.

you can get silver-gold, solo...there's no reason you'd get bronze, if you're with friends; kinda lame excuse to pull at your convenience, and screw over lots of other ppl. you wouldn't pull an A-S rank, if you were there alone, so you're just selfish.
if you're in a group, you share contribution; it happened on several occasions, where i come a bit late to a mark, get 1 hit-gold.

you don't loose anything, if you wait. if you're hunting, the other marks aren't gonna spawn faster, if you pull whenever you feel like it.
sure, you're not under any obligation to wait, but....why not wait and give more ppl the opportunity to get seals?
early pulling doesn't change anything, anyway. i was solo, and pulled an A rank, and still got bronze; so if you're afraid to get bronze, you'd get it even if you pulled early.

The extra 60 seconds you may wait gives a huge chunk of people a chance to get seals and there's literally no benefit to you to pull without waiting. It doesn't help the next hunt spawn any faster or anything, and due to the way hunt windows work, it won't really help THIS mob respawn any faster, either.

That said, public shaming is really the only weapon we have against early pullers. So until SE gets off their asses and makes hunt mob HP scale so that it takes ~2 minutes to kill each hunt mob regardless of how many people are fighting it, I say shame away.

Maybe some of these people will get sick of the hate and stop doing it, cause they're sure as hell not going to stop without any encouragement to do so...

I don't understand the people that say it takes them so long to teleport in, with load times, that the mark is dead before they arrive? Why are you porting in, surely you were already in the zone, scouting round?

In hunt parties I've been in we have people scouting all potential marks in more than one zone. What would be the point in having the entire party search just one zone when more than one area is open? Of course when a mark is found it's announced to the group and everyone heads to that location.

Because two hunt marks are never, ever, under any circumstances open at the same time and will have people in a hunt party scouting multiple areas, right?

Yup.. the park and porters waiting on LS notifications are the ones feeling the burn. Hasn't been much sympathy on my server for their outbursts. If you want the hunt rewards, get to huntin'. I think the shortened pull times in Hunts 2.0 has actually decreased the drama we were getting the first go-around when people thought they could make it waiting on LS shouts.

Now it's pretty much understood that unless you're hunting, you're not getting. Simple.

And as for multiple marks spawning... the active hunt parties have actually been quite cordial in coordinating the order to hit 'em. Again... this was a problem much more prevalent in Hunts 1.0.

I was in Lower LaNoscea the other day, looking for the A rank when it spawned across the zone. I didn't make it half-way across before it was dead.

I assure you, you can be doing EVERYTHING in your power to hunt and help report hunts and still get fucked over by people pulling early.

There's no excuse for not waiting ~60 seconds or so for people to show up. People have been showing each other that same courtesy for a while now, and the whole purpose of hunt LSs is to inform players of hunt spawns so they can GET THERE in time.

We have people on our server who pull early just to troll and then aggressively mock the people that got there seconds too late.

Like I said, we NEED HP scaling. 10 people? Mob takes ~2 mins to kill. 1,000 people? Mob takes ~2 mins to kill.

I understand... there are going to be some really crazy early pulls (some by accident even). Plus... LLN has a lot of ground to cover. I generally just port to Costa and hoof it from there for the northern spawns.

The other trouble is that there are people using GuildWorks or other 3rd party apps, apps that will inform them as soon as someone with the app comes within range of the monster, giving them an advantage over the hunt LSs, even.

And like I said, we have trolls who pull early JUST to piss people off...

It's this simple: Early pulling isn't against the rules, but it does piss off half the server, and it's pointless to do. And yes, "early pulling" is real, just like "rude behavior" is real. But, just like being rude, it's not against the rules.

Also, over-the-top public shaming is bad. Whiny shouts when the mob dies from an early pull are bad. They don't help anything. However, a simple "so-and-so pulled, just fyi" isn't bad at all. All pulls happen in public, so to speak, so there's no harm in simply stating who pulled.

Early pullers need to live with the social consequences, and people who are more selfless in their hunts need to realize they'll get dicked over by early pullers. There will also be a handful of players who will just troll the crap out of everyone by immediately face pulling everything. Again, that's just online gaming. Trolls be trollin.

Early pullers also need to realize they're directly responsible for the growing tend of "parked leeches" waiting in each hunt zone. Try hunting late at night, when the early pullers have all gone to bed, and you'll find the majority of hunters scouting zones (as they should be) with very few people parked and waiting -- because nobody's freaked out about putting in the effort to hunt and then missing out on seals because the mark dies in less than a minute.

That said, contributing to a negative hunt culture isn't against the rules, either.

Whatever your style of hunting may be, just be man (or woman) enough to own it.

It actually doesn't occur at every single mark ever... late, late at night, hunting is very cooperative and pleasant. Could be that people wait longer for pulls, or it could be that all the kids are in bed. Whatever the reason, it's a different atmosphere when pulls slow down.

The Aetheryte leeches are pretty annoying too. I found it humorous the other day when a ET mark went undiscovered for nearly an hour because 99% of the "hunters" were camped at the port, while only a few were actually doing the legwork.

It's a vicious cycle.

The masses try to cooperate, but a handful of early pullers start causing people to miss out on marks... so then those people stop looking and start just waiting in central locations of zones... which then leads to more early pulling... which causes even MORE people to give up looking and sit waiting in zones... etc., until you just have mobs being immediately face-pulled and actual hunters totally missing out.

If you still don't believe in "early pulling," then go hunting very late at night when the early pulls have died down. You WILL see the difference. Everything about hunting late at night is so much more pleasant and productive.

Early pulling isn't against the rules, though, nor should it be. I honestly feel the sense of conflict/adversity caused by early pulling or other unpopular behaviors creates a more lively, realistic feeling that people crave in MMOs. Also, early pulling makes me more thankful for the times when hunters are actually cooperating and playing together.

I'm all for public shaming. If people are going to generally just be rude about pulls and want to take everything or themselves I have no problem letting the general public rip them a new one. Then again, there are people who feel entitled to have every hunt possible, so I'm on the fence about the topic itself. Now there is a huge difference between public shaming and public slandering. The majority of the time people usually slander instead of shame in which case most arguments over hunts break out because of this reason. Hunts were a good idea, just implemented poorly. They should've (in my opinion) made them like Guildhest. You go in with a party and you have a set time limit to track down a hunt and kill it and everybody gets credit.

Early puller are no different from the DDOS trouble makers. They get their jollies at causing other misfortune. People have no trouble publicly shaming and even taking legal action against the DDOS trouble makers, why should people stop publicing shaming and black listing the early pulling repeat offenders. Calling them out is giving them a chance to behave better on the next elite mark so they do NOT get blacklisted.

As I said to someone else, if you have no problem with the harassment of others by shouting their names followed by accusations about them which incurs a backlash towards them both in /tells and blacklisting...then you wont mind if someone on your server does it to you right now. Goes to all regions within your server shouting your name followed by the accusation your an early puller.

You will then find yourself blacklisted and facing rude and harassing /tells for something you may or may not have ever done. Perhaps you will use the excuse if happened to someone else that it will teach them not to do it in future because they sampled what it will be like if they do and claim it is a preventative measure? After all it goes in the same direction as what said above, putting people off doing it in future.

Fact is anyone can shout a random persons name followed by such accusations and the consequence is a witch hunt that harasses other players who may or may not have done anything wrong. It is a form of harassment plain and simple to do such shouts, especially given the person accused is not always to blame or guilty of what someone claims in these shouts.

The thing is these people "don't" stop until they're either jailed or banned. It's called ignorance. There are players out there who feel that other shouldn't be allowed progression. They want to keep that line between casual and hardcore from blurring as much as possible. So they ruin hunts for others. I don't like hunts, I'll just wait until they drop from WoD to bother with progression or just slip into a Coil group.

People are not blind. False accusation don't mean a thing. It is obvious who pulled first. I just make sure I am not the first pull, and always call out the pull time so there is no room for misunderstanding. The early pullers ignore the called pull time and it is very obvious who they are, and it gets more obvious at every A rank.

Yes because clearly someone in Mor Dhona for example will have seen who pulled in Thanalan. You do a shout in Thanalan that you 'think' pulled early and word spreads across more regions through friends, FC's and linkshells. I state again are you saying you would have no problem if someone reading this thread who plays on your server goes around right now shouting your an early puller? Do you think just because you believe your always right about who pulls early, that every other person who does such shouts is also right? If you think doing such shouts is okay for you then surely it applies to everyone else or only you should do such shouts?

Reality is quite often such shouts are not right, whether coming from someone who arrived late, someone blaming a player who happened to be in the area maybe not even taking part in the hunt when the hunt mob targeted them plus other examples like someone saying such because they simply do not like someone else...but pretty much all people accused via such shouts will get abuse and harassed, verbally insulted through tells and blacklisted regardless of accuracy of the person who did the shout. Do you consider them casualties of war? Do they deserve such harassment just because some idiot shouted their name and a accusation in regional chat which will spread through many other regions, linkshells and FC's?

These shouts are nothing more than FF14 version of witch hunts. Regardless of guilt you will be harassed if someone does it to you and often has proved to be the case people are getting blamed despite not being guilty of the accusation...irregardless of your own personal bias towards the accuracy of your own accusations towards others.

If those people were going make false accusation in Mor Dhona about irrelevant stuff, nobody will be listening to them. LOL. If they wanted to do this, they wouldn't already done it many moons ago. People have eyes and can see who is early pulling. They don't got room to blacklist every gil seller and every made up name they hear in Mod Dhona. And if they search to find the person is offline, i.e. can not find them, good luck trying blacklist the offline person. Too funny.

Have I accidentally faced fulled mob too early, yes. But I don't go repeating that mistake over and over on purpose. You earn your reputation as the early puller by doing it over and over. An FC can earn that reputation too when it is the same group doing it. It has been well documented that a FC has basically left our server because of trolling early pull behavior. A reputation is not earned from only repeat 'accusations', people are blacklisted on the first 'accusation' in almost all cases, people would receive abuse on the first 'accusation' and every 'accusation' in almost every single case. The idea that people would get free passes until they are known as repeat offenders (which really is nothing more than repeat 'accusations' they did something wrong) aka gained a reputation from such 'accusations' multiple times is incredibly naive and ignorant. The harassment starts the moment they are 'accused' regardless of guilt or repeated 'accusations', each 'accusation' leads to abuse. It is a witch hunt, it is harassment and if we were on the same server I would report you for such any time I saw you do it.

Notice how I emphasized the word accusations? That's because all these shouts ever are is such, they are not proof anyone did what was claimed and they are not evidence of someone doing what they are accused of doing. They are nothing more than someone accusing another person of doing something wrong but in almost every case the person accused gets abuse merely from the accusation. If you do not see something wrong with that then I feel sorry for you. Consider yourself lucky you were not alive during the actual fifteenth and eighteenth centuries where such witch hunts could of cost you your life from someone merely making 'accusations', the form of public shouts from those times. I do not care if you think you are always right about the people you accuse, fact is a lot of people are not and get harassed without the need for proof just because someone accused them in a public shout.

This isn't a complex issue like a murder trial or witch hunt... this is literally, did you see that toon walk up to the mob and face-pull it, or did you see that toon walk up and shield lob/voke/whatever it? And then did the mob claim to that person? It's pretty simple.

As for reputations, I've never seen anyone on Hyperion get a bad reputation for early pulling once. Heck, I did it once on accident... I apologized in /shout, there were no nasty /tells or /shouts, and everything was cool. It's only the people who do it again and again who make themselves negatively known.

Also, for someone who seems so concerned with "proof," it's pretty bold of you to say that "people are blacklisted on the first 'accusation' in almost all cases." Now THAT's something that you'll never be able to prove, and I highly doubt it's true.

Outliers or your saying haven't seen it on your server (which I do not believe personally) is not evidence of it not happening either elsewhere or when your not present, I personally have seen and known people who get accused despite not even being on the same map, in every single case I know of they get abuse through tells, they get harassed and a lot of times get blacklisted (you do not have to believe me just like I do not believe your comment above). I have been part of hunts where people have done such shouts despite that person not being present when was actually pulled, the people who never saw who pulled jump on the bandwagon and harass the innocent person, many times I have seen this. As have others in this thread mentioned seeing such happen.

I have seen an innocent person who happened to be near the mob doing other things when the mob targeted them after spawning and everyone nearby jumped in attacking the mob then accused the person of pulling despite not even doing so on purpose or even intending to take part in the hunt, they got abuse thrown at them. Hunt mobs do not need to be attacked to be pulled and being in the wrong place at the wrong time is enough to be accused of pulling early. All these things happen and none of these things are acceptable, they should not be treated as casualties of war and they should not be harassed just because some idiot shouted their name followed by an accusation.

I have been part of quite a few hunt linkshells and people almost always get blacklisted in those by people within when they get accused and word spreads through the linkshell of that accusation, that is what I mean by saying almost always blacklisted. Can I say always happens everywhere, every time, no. I have not been in every hunt linkshell or can see what everyone within does but I have been in quite a few and read/seen most people within those blacklist on the accusation alone, hence why said almost all and not all.

The context is almost all linkshells and hunt parties I have been in, not all hunt parties or linkshells that exist everywhere. Granted I should of been more clear about that comment but it really doesn't take much to realize I was referring to what I have seen/experienced despite the fact I could of worded it better. As I said I will report anyone I see doing such shouts under the report harassment section to GM's in game because it is a fact that is what such shouts are. They are intended to cause abuse, harassment and mob rule punishment to anyone who gets 'accused' by those who do such shouts as a way to make them suffer such abuse in an effort to correct their ways despite being just based on just an accusation they did something you do not like.

I would also like to point out the irony of NyarukoW (the person I was actually talking to in that previous comment) who in this thread is against mob rule on the kicking out of players from groups and dungeons yet in this thread is for mob rule when it comes to hunts. There is an element of hypocrisy at play which I do not approve of in that regard.

It is actually a whole lot easier to make hunts if you just sit somewhere safe waiting for shouts. God forbid you're actually looking for a hunt mob in a high level area where you can get agro and aren't allowed to teleport until you run away.

Honestly you can tell when it's an early pull. What kills me is when people complain about "early pullers" when they weren't actively hunting. They try to make it to the mark when they were doing something else or heard about the mark from a friend of a friend of a friend.

- There is no "prize" for claiming.
- There is no "prize" for being the one to find it. (ie you aren't a special snowflake if you find it - as I am sure you have been to a tonne that you did not find).
- The difference between waiting 30 seconds is negligible, especially if you are going to warp back to Mist or Goblet, just to sit there and wait for someone to find a new hunt for you anyway. (Which is true most of the time).
- The game is not a competition as to "who can get the most seals" or "who can gear up the fastest" - unless you are actually playing on a competitve level such as world firsts (in which case, Hunts aren't really designed for you, especially this late after the raid patch).
- Pulling "early" only ruins it for those that may be a little slower off the mark. They may be running on PS3 and get crammed on loading screens when trying to zone with a tonne of people (as an example).

Just because you are fast and efficient at getting to a hunt, doesn't mean you have to prove how big your privates are by pulling before half of the server that are actively hunting, get to the mark.

If you truly want efficiency, then join a solid Hunt LS (or even better, Voice channel) that is actively looking for hunts, 24/7. If you did, then you would likely be sitting on a mountain of seals, that waiting around 30 seconds for a pull wouldn't bother you in the slightest.

Quick point before I make the rest of my post: I don't complain about early pullers publicly, and I never refer to a person when I'm being bitter amongst friends. I blame my luck more than other people.

But for the meat of my post: I DO have very bad luck hunting. My Hunt LS mentions a hunt. I teleport into the zone, checking the map link as I go through the animation ((unless it is a two Aetheryte zone)) load the zone "X has been pulled." ((my LS does it as a heads up sometimes, not a shaming)) Arrive at the hunt location "X has died" I see it slump over, hunters teleporting away.

I'm in the middle of crafting, finish my work, no one says it's been pulled, so I figure no one must be hunting at this moment. load the zone "X has been pulled." Arrive at the hunt location "X has died" I see it slump over, hunters teleporting away.

I'm either hunting and run into one, or lucky/unlucky and one spawns at my gathering loop. I announce it on my LS, to my FC, and Shout. No one comes cause my LS and FC are asleep and apparently no one is in the zone. I get to ignore it while collecting Mithril/Electrum for a good half hour till someone shows up.

I have very bad luck.

a text on a screen read by zillions of people and based on that only text they decide to join the bandwagon and without even knowing they degrade insult and tlike, so even if text yes it is not to be taken lightly. Also if you ignore you dont know what is being said about you and keep wondering why people run when they see you...Ignore is not the solution especially ify ou want to report for harrassement.

What I'm gathering between the conversation between Snugglebutt and NyarukoW is that NyarukoW is perfectly willing to have baseless accusations against them for early pulling because they believe everyone will only accept the truth.
