It's definitely messed up that lower pop servers can't finish their phases due to low turnout. Doesn't have anything to do with being casual friendly though, it has to do with server pop. I was under the impression that casuals don't care about red alerts anyway.

All I've heard is that red alerts are not a viable option to complete a relic because they only happen every 4 hours and a casual can't be expected to research their relic that way.
Granted I am unsure why people who don't gather and craft would want to grab a relic for it. It'd be like me spending a week to grab the DRK HW relic despite never playing the job.

I'll have to disagree most of the casuals are on those low pop servers that's why they are low pop because all the gung-ho mid-core and tryhards are on high pop servers because they want to grind grind grind and the more people the easier it is to grind, and the people who just want a calm relaxing time and do their tiktok videos and others things go on the low pop servers where it's not a rush and you don't feel pressured to catch up or be left behind. As a player whos been on Behemoth since 2015 I know how much FoMo being on high pop server causes cause people get things that are suppose to be hard to get in the first week of release and now you feel like you are missing out and that you suck because you can't compete with that. Example day 2 or 3 of early access of DT someone on Behemoth already had the squirrel mount from fate rewards with the Turali Bicolor Gemstone Vouchers. However on lower pop servers you don't feel the rush of having to catch up because you aren't sitting there watching all these tryhards no lifeing the content.

the reason we want the rellics is because a (current) max level relic gives +35% bonus to Lunar Credits which is the Gashapon reward garbage that has the new space suit, new glasses, a new mount, some really nice Orch scrolls, lots of the new uncommon dyes, some furniture locked behind it and majority of the time all you get is prisms or other garbage that you don't want or need (like the furniture if you don't want it as it sells for pennies). Now I know you can say "just buy it off the MB" but not everyone has loads of gil to throw around even if they are all finally under a mill but that's still a lot of gil when you are also trying to save up for other things and could earn it with time instead of gil, if that Gashapon wasn't a total scam for the majority.

Why are you feeling pressured by your server population or even think server population translates to FOMO, with more people you are more likely to get someone who goes really hard on something, that doesn’t mean casual people migrate away from that. Even then why would you migrate away from a server because someone else got the squirrel mount really quickly

If you want the item not the content then it’s genuinely better to just do something that earns money and buy it than do the content itself. This is how it’s always worked

Judging by clear rate of savage raids Crystal is quite low as a population percentage, yet despite being filled with "casuals" they managed to complete the progress bars quite swiftly.

I also think, on a personal level, it's silly to feel like you're being left behind because you don't have a particular mount. Mounts don't do anything for you (aside from the cash shop mount that lets you ride a little faster). The relic crafting/gathering stuff doesn't do anything for you. You will not be locked out of MSQ because you're missing a mount or relic tool. What you will miss out on, is further steps in the relic tool, which still won't lock you out of any of the other crafting/gathering content that's out there. They even got rid of the Saint titles that they had with Ishgard restoration, which was really the only thing you'd never be able to accomplish once it was done. Whether you get a squirrel mount in 2 days or 2 years it really has no impact aside from the length of time it took you to personally acquire it.

If you on some level feel like you absolutely need the mount, then that is a personal problem. A self-inflicted wound. As stated, there are many many many casuals doing their thing on crystal who manage to not hop servers when they see people have things they don't have.

That's doing it the slowest way possible. The quick way would be to do a few hours gathering for essentially anything worth more than 700 gil a piece (should be able to get 1,400 of them casually within an hour), and voila after 2 hours you have all the gil you need to get every reward. No need for RNG. You could have gotten that in the time we've been spending chatting on the forums here and you've saved yourself ~6 hours of grinding out a relic and countless more of grinding currency.

The problem here is that rather than asking if there's a better way, for some reason you're dead set on saying it's an impossible expectation. Yet you think it's more reasonable that a person would spend hours grinding out a relic tool for the +35% gacha currency rather than just getting the gil. Ludicrous.

Housing is a fair criticism of the busier servers but the rest of the idea that you get FOMO from seeing something someone else owns that you want seems like a personal concern. I see people on aether all the time with things I’d like to have but I don’t flee to dynamis to avoid it. I go “good for them I wonder if it’s viable for me to get that”

You were the one who told me that the reason someone wants a relic tool is for the +35% points for the gacha system and I informed you there's a much better way to acquire all the rewards, so that reason to want a relic tool is a bad one. If you want to help with the progression of CE then that's not based on the gacha grind. You can casually grind as much as you want and the contribution points will remain the same whether you have the relic equipped or not.

However basing the completion of the progression fates on number of participants without considering server pop is pretty bad and they should try and change that.

Housing's still not a requirement for the vast majority of content in the game. There's not even any story quests tied to it. That said I would support moving to a system where all housing is instanced and upgradable, but I have my doubts it will change. Also has little to do with cosmic exploration aside from the loose connection that on a small server you have a better chance of getting a house, but a lower chance of completing cosmic exploration.

You're the one that brought up the mount. And you brought up the mount again because you're still defending the point of people feeling bad they don't have something another person worked to earn. I dunno, deal with it or something, or go live on your low pop server where there's nobody who has anything I guess? I might make the suggestion to play a single player game if the idea of running into a player that has something you don't is this stressful.

when did I say FLEEING to dynamis, and sure it's a personal concern ALL OF FOMO is a personal concern. The point is that on a more casual server you have to not feel so inadequate because you're not going to be seen a bunch of tryhards flaunting that they sweated and spent millions on millions on millions of gil just so they can skip the content that you can't skip cause you're not as lucky as them or don't have the time invest me that they can put in.

Why would you tell a casual player to not get the relic and that if they are there just for helping with progression they do not deserve the bonus lunar credits the relic would give, and should just farm over-world mats and buy them that's so uncool and kinda toxic to expect them to just grind to help progression but not get the bonus lunar credits.

You're missing the point and focusing on the mount even though it was just a single example. I guess it was a bad one because I don't actually care about the squirrel mount, I want it but not enough to grind for months straight or break my bank to buy the tokens to get it. It was merely an example because as expansions come out getting extremely tedious stuff like that becomes less about buying the tokens and being a pure grind because people stop grinding those tokens in favor of the new ones thus making it even harder for a casual player to obtain such a thing. And yes nothing is necessary it's just a game, but the fact is the game is suppose to be fun. Also how about you get your toxic ass attitude of telling me to go play a single player game when I clearly stated earlier that I am not talking directly about me or my experiences, I grinded 4 relics in 3 days because I didn't want to front millions of gil for the gacha items and I don't feel like running around the open world, so I stood in the same spot all day every day doing mission after mission getting gold after gold to get it all myself save for the space suit because after 100 spins and no suit I said screw it it's only 230k so I bought 2 and sold the other as individual pieces and made back the money i spent on both.

You already talked about people being poor so why would you suggest buying tokens as an option? They're FATEs, they're soloable and most anyone can do them (aside, I guess, from the folks who fail solo duties). But yes there are other aspects of the game you might miss out on if you aren't a player that can commit many hours to it. Even if it's not you in this hypothetical scenario, my response remains the same. If you/they feel so distraught when they see another person has something they don't, then single player games are where it's at. If that's what these hypothetical people are thinking, they need to unironically grow up a little. It honestly sounds like a tiring existence that they need to move on from.

Thanks, yeah that's what was puzzling me. I do quite a bit of crafting and gathering, and am finding some of Cosmic Exploration... an okay diversion. But I have no interest in getting relic tools.

As a casual crafter/gatherer I find the Red Alerts rather more compelling than the actual crafting and gathering. The lunar hellscape isn't attractive and makes gathering difficult for me because I can barely see the nodes.

I said before that if this is supposed to be the next housing area it is remarkable they found an area more grey than Ishgard. A shame the red alerts don't have rainbow mode like ocean fishing has. Maybe a solar ray shower or something (it might have that I dunno I haven't seen all the red alerts.)

Being under-geared and under-funded probably makes failing the phases even worse because they have to contend with not only a lack of people, but provisions too. I doubt there's a lot of them carrying around stacks of food, cordials, or even basic materia (pentameld or not).

If you've been fortunate enough to be surrounded by nothing but sweethearts throughout your time playing the game, good for you, but that hasn't been my experience at all, at least not when trying to do raids or PVP on Aether and Primal. I don't know about Crystal, I only go there to shop. (Though I do make the conscious decision to skip Balmung even if it has the cheapest price ...just in case.)

And what sanctions? It's not like GMs actually care so its pointless to report it, not that filling a ticket is a simple matter anyway.

Actually GM's do care to a point if you actually report I have been sent to Morden Gaol a couple times already over players twisting my words which just gave me the reason to turn it around and report them instead since I save logs in screenshots of conversations which are timestamped.

Yes that's when I lost interest in sightseeing too! At the time I wasn't as disgruntled as I am now so never examined/noticed how/when/why it happened.
I just used to go back and complete a bit of sight seeing in a whim. But suddenly I stopped doing that.
And when it comes to jumping puzzles I assumed that was a me thing and thought nothing of it. I'm just really bad at them.

Also funnily enough items being in the gacha roll makes them cheaper overall. Since people are forced to get duplicates of things they don't want they'll chuck it on the marketboard and undercut like mad. It takes time to build up 6000+ points for the shop. You can buy a 6000 point item, sell it, and buy anything you could want from the gacha. If the mount was 9900 points, you'd actually be worse off. Not to even mention the dyes, which are absolutely dirt cheap.

Will this be the case in the future? Who knows. Coffer o' Kupos and casual wear coffers are still sitting around 100,000 gil a piece though if Ishgard restoration is any measure.

Causal or hardcore, there is no standard definition. Something can be hardcore for a player but causal for someone else.

No point arguing what content is causal or hardcore. Everyone has a different view.

As some one barely touch crafting I would not call A rank easy, and does need a bit of investment (so far I have orange script left side with orange script main hand) 51xx stat and I could reliable get silver on some A rank. So even a for newbie it is dorable just need some gear investment

Gathering is absolutely worse implementation in cosmic exploration. Especially fishing which RNG could really troll you in A rank

Red alert is an alternate, certain not as fast as doing A rank if you could manage silver. So far I have see Red alert pop between 3-6 hours and the stage FATE seems to reset it. Unlike Fete without a timer it is a hit or miss for some players who don’t have all day to camp in game. Hope it will have a timer once the whole cosmic exploration progression is done


Ground support in Mech Ops is disappointing. Reward is so poor unless you run out of the buff, it is not worth doing it.

Overall I feel scammingway is nicer than kupo of fortune as least there are multiple way to earn credit and the crafting side provides all the material you need.

Overall, I think it is enjoyable. Again no point calling it causal or hardcore.

Yes that's when I lost interest in sightseeing too! At the time I wasn't as disgruntled as I am now so never examined/noticed how/when/why it happened.

The only casual content in the game is standing around in limsa and spamming emotes by your guys defintion.´, becausse anything that requires moving your character around seems too difficult.

Well... I tell I lie. I did try the SB tower jumping puzzle it seemed impossible, at least on my controller. I made no consistent progress after two days and had miles to go.
I'm bad at it. AND IT'S NOT FUN ANYWAY for me. I enjoy improving at things. This I do not enjoy getting better at.
There is nothing unusual, or odd about liking Alpha 3 normal, or ShB Ex1 blind, but not liking jumping puzzles.
Nothing at all.
And if you think that is odd and unacceptable, then just <insert correctively disparaging comment aimed at you, here>

One thing that I'd like them to do is to decouple the Lunar Credits bonus off the relic weapon. Keeping them means I'd feel inclined to keep them somewhere attainable in future expansions should I want to farm the currency.

Sh!tty players are going to be sh!tty regardless of the reason. Since you've regaled your tales aplenty of time, I think I'd like to add mine that comes from the opposing spectrum as well. For once I was accused for being 'mentally ill' when I tried to correct a misinformation & after this offender learned during the same run of DRN that I've cleared all ShB relics at Augmented Order phase when it was the current patch. Suffice to say, that amuses me and earns them an insta-report.

That being said, GMs do respond.... just not in a priority that people probably would expect. lol

Dev seems to take note on the jumping puzzle. DT one is way easier. I finish DT one in 15 minutes have yet finish SB one.
DT one feel shorter and more forgiving, at least once you reach the top and you are done. I have reach the top on Kugane a few time but land the wrong spot and all the effort gone

That's what the game used to be like. Someone said something nice, and you "didn't" think they were probably being a total republican.

So far, what did I learn from this (I am not being ironic)

1) Some people cannot accept that a piece of content has content for multiple audiences of the player spectrum even if it's totally optional and doesn't affect them in any way.
2) Some people don't like that doh relics are gated behind expert recipes, at least in the past when it was not avoidable.
3) Some people don't have a problem with CE as a whole, their actual problem is with baseline crafting requirements. This is because they have never interacted with actual crafting beyond using community macros or going for society quests and customs. Alternatively, people may want crafting to be easier and more accessible.
4) Crafting still has a relatively high floor and accessibility for a good chunk of the playerbase. It's all but obvious to get from leveling crafters with catch up mechanics to actual baseline recipes. It's all but obvious with all the information to gather on how to meld, what to meld, what are thresholds, what budget one wants to invest into it, and finally finding the macros for endgame recipes. It's all but obvious how a crafting rotation should be built and how every crafting ability interacts within the whole.
5) Using loaded words like casual and midcore was not a good idea.

One random advice because I have seen it mentioned a few times:

You can change the colour of the node text so it's not white on white anymore. It's not super obvious though. It helped me a lot, I had also big issues seeing the nodes. :)

Check the character settings for the name plates and look for "object". Should be the third or fourth tab. This is the setting for all sorts of, well, object texts, like "Aetheryte", "Summoning Bell" but also crafting nodes.

I can think of a few actions absolutely core to expert crafts that normal crafts don’t care about at all

1) prudent touch- it’s your main method of inner quiet stack generation in experts but is basically completely unused in normal due to prevalence of waste not
2) rapid synthesis/hasty touch- to someone who’s never done experts why would they ever think actions that can straight up fail are remotely useful?
3) observe- observe as a combo action into advanced is unused in normal and good omen only existing in experts is another highly useful action that doesn’t get used in normal

It’s hard to expect people to learn experts when normals don’t teach you why crafting skills work the way they do

I just find it funny that people complain about the gear requirements for crafting now, after the rework in ShB dumbed them down to the point where they are entirely reliant on gear.

I am most definitely being genuine! >:{ don't call me a twat, I considered moving my main to Maduin already once before cause I had an alt there that I did lots of content and I have lots of maduin friends, I don't know this specific person but I could introduce them to some of the nicest people on all of XIV. The hardest part for me transfering my main is I really don't wanna throw away my 9 year old FC that I made on 01/01/2016, but the Maduin crew I know are very kinda and understanding of me with my disabilities and my mental health conditions.

This is sort of the problem we have, with how everything has been done.

In that most players are just throwing the first immediate thought that the issue is not something they are doing but whether they are pentamelded or not, when really, that isn't a requirement nor a necessity, but just something that essentially wipes away the skill disparity or RNG factor of crafting (granted the latter takes a high bar)

But in the case of these recipes some people are just doing weird things generally with their crafts, and then thinking that it is resolved by pentamelding, rather than just simply looking at whether their macro, rotation or line of thinking is even good...

Like, you can comfortably macro these:
A-2: Test Material Final Processing
A-1: High Burn Charcoal
A-1: Power Transmission Shafts I
A-2: Power Transmission Shafts II
A-1: Specialized Materials I
A-1: Packing Materials I
A-2: Packing Materials II (Close)

On stats as low as 5210/4708/628, and if you're willing to include specialist in that, then it is doing even more recipes, and to a greater success.. Which anyone that knows is entry entry stats, as in... Scrip gear, mostly old materia and not even using the 4th meld slot on the accessories.

It's fine being casual or not knowing, but it's just so sad that the immediate reaction is must pentameld, or content is too hardcore rather than asking for help or just tweaking.
