See my post right above this one. This is not hard to understand.

I have gotten on every day. Played for 8 this or more hours. Free week it is. Extended as compensation vs free week is silly ass semantics and op is being a man child with compensation issues of his own.
I prepaid for 7 apples that I knew everyone else wanted and I knew there would be limited supply and the store would be packed and it could be hard to get in. The store warned me about that. Had signs posted. So I went to the store early when I knew it would not be so busy. I got my apples. Then on top of that I was given 7 apples because another group of people complained about a problem I was smart enough to avoid. That's great service right there.
In real life I just avoid the store if I know its busy. I also only shop and go out when I know it won't be crowded. There is this restaurant in town. Super popular. If you go on a weekend there will be a line(queue). People leave all the time. At times people get told they won't be able to be seated before closing. None of them are just given free meals or compensation coupons. You can probably guess where I don't go and when. Wether I paid or not time is money and I am not wasting either on something negative I can avoid. In the case of the restaurant or this game I will go when it is intelligent and is not going to cause me stress.
You also won't find me complaining about semantics over compensation/free time and making myself look like a crappy human who makes poor decisions. Lift yourself up, be a better person, if your only game time is during high queues then take that time and do something productive instead. Go volunteer, clean your community, get some exercise, do a kind deed, wasting it staring at a queue then complaining about the verbiage used for compensation is poor form.
Noone really cares if you are not having issue. Many are. You are like one of them middle class people telling the poor to work harder because I earned everything I got.
7 extra days of waiting hours in a queue that we got to babysit is not wanted or needed by many of us. So maybe you need to be a little more understanding kiddo.
The Apartment or Commercial Highrise is a better analogy for SquareEnix selling subscriptions for access to FFXIV Server & Worlds.
SquareEnix sells customers subscriptions, takes their money in exchange for providing access to the property and its amenities, their obligation is to provide enough space for you because you paid for it. It would suck if they sold more rooms or space than they really had available...
But they don't have enough room for customers in the building even though they sold the service to you and took your rent money.
But you're not.
You're explaining this like everyone is getting a free week EXTRA week, but they aren't
Let me try again, and if you don't understand, then you don't understand.
- You pay to get 1 apple a day for Four weeks
- But on the first week they missed giving you an apple
- Now on weeks 2, 3, 4 you receive an apple
- But the vendor said during week 1 "to make up for the apple you missed, I'll give you a free apple after week 4"
- At the end of 5 weeks how many apples do you have? If you followed the math you only have "FOUR" apples, correct?
So you originally paid for Four, you received, four, but you had to wait an extra week to get the apple you missed. So exactly how is this getting anything extra? Extra would be "FIVE" apples (The one you missed + the EXTRA the vendor said you would receive for the inconvenience)
To be honest if you still don't understand either you're doing this on purpose or willfully ignoring basic economics.
Also you're saying you had no issues getting on, but when Dev's make a post about this, then it's a "MAJOR" issue.
I mean the issues with the massive queues, disconnection, and over all inaccessibility of the game is on the launch page for God's sake.
Seriously???
Just because you aren't having an issue doesn't mean the rest of us are as lucky.
Here it's just now 7pm and I've been trying access this game since 4pm EST with queues over 5,000 and I stopped counting my disconnections from the login server after 20.
So I find it hard to believe that you are so fortunate you can log on when ever you like with the lightest of queues since launch.
Again, having worked for a fortune 500 company for over 25 years this isn't going to happen. The accountants won't allow them to suddenly start messing up when they deduct payments just for free time.
The easiest would be to offer a "discount" or a free month, that way the accounts know when to take out. Accountants are strange that way, they hate uncertainties.
Second, they never said "how" they were going to do this, just that it would be 7 free days. That could mean anything without their explanation.
Personally I think this is vague on purpose......
Don't waste your time!
It is pretty simple. If you are managing to play, you are getting 7 free days and you are happy.
If you are not - say you can only play after work, and you try over and over again to queue to the game but aways get the 2002 error midway, so it is not a matter of waiting in line. You actually cannot play at all - that is another story.
You payed to play for 30 days. In nowhere it is said you can only use these days out of peak time. But during 7 of these 30 days, SE did not provide the service you paid for. So you paid for 30 days of service and got 23. SE doesn't have to give your money back, because it is smart and put that in the EULA. But it doesn't want you to stop paying for it every month. So it will gice you 7 extra days. You paid for 30 days and will get 30 days with a 7 days iatus. The first group got 7 free days though
Okay, I want to cancel my Endwalker pre-order because of this issue but can't be I unlocked the pre-trial key months ago when a Oceanic Server was still planned to get added.
Wait, someone who will not be able to play after next week, therefore lost one week of playtime, is supposed to be happy about it?
Done. You are being given back those 7 days you claim to be losing now. Matter solved.
As for myself, I've been able to play every day since launch (the only joy of being an European playing in a NA server), so these extra 7 days will be indeed free for me. Thank you, SE!
Ok, see "THIS" is 100% true and more makes sense.
But the only thing I can say to the above is "FFXIV 1.0".
I played that and I cancelled my subscription after a couple months. A lot of us did, and no matter what the EULA said, it was a sad game and very irritating.
This expansion is walking the same line and it all comes down to investors and financials. Those guys don't like negative press that might effect stock prices.
You may not agree with me, but if FFXIV 1.0 wasn't so bad why did they have to scrap it and relaunch it? There's a documentary on Youtube about how bad it really was behind the scenes, and it feels a lot like now. :(
No one should have to wait 4-5 hours to see if they are even going to get to play a game they paid for before they have to go to bed for the night
How did this mundane post get 10 pages? Instead of being angry at queues I've developed an enjoyment at reading all this rage instead of being raged myself. Thanks bruh's.
I remember pre-ARR FFXIV, that game was utter trash back then. Reading the Bad Reviews was more fun than playing the actual game, I lasted about a 3 weeks, not even a month. Wasn't a fan of ARR either, lasted 1 month then got the hell out. HW onwards was where I got more interested and it's been on and off since then.
I might get in folks, I'm at 1 of 35 and it's 4 hours later..................
Pray for me.
Excited to finally play Endwalker? Don't forget to order out with grub hub and get the "Eat Pizza" emote!
"We’re excited to announce that we have partnered with Grubhub to offer Warriors of Light the greatest grub of all time – PIZZA! For a limited time, place an order on Grubhub and use promo code ENDWALKER at checkout to earn your own Eat Pizza emote! Plus, get free delivery* powered by the Grubhub Guarantee for orders placed during The Game Awards on Thursday, December 9!"
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::confused::confused::confused::mad::mad::mad:
Holy shit what is happening, this is unbelievably disappointing. I'm lost for words.
Will spit on anyone emoting eat pizza.
Goodness. Imagine what it feels like being an investor.
That's it, I quit for the night. I was at 35, the 2002 error popped up, I got kicked, and after attempting 6 times to get back on while seeing the 2002 errors, I'm now back to sitting at 5,134
7 Free days is not worth this level of frustration .....................
Infact it’s quite the opposite, very few EULAs or TOS has been tested in court. And what do you mean by ”people like me”?
You’re right about one thing, that most if not all EULAs/TOSes are at the very least reviewed by a ”lawyer”.
Ok I won’t namedrop but let’s say I have quite some professional experience in this area (although I’m no longer in that industry)…
But in short law and legislation works differently in different countries around the world, but you would be surprised how many EULAs/TOSes that are not valid in most if any country, just like there are tons and tons of patents ”awarded” to people that may actually not be valid at all if they end up contested in court case.
And for your information ”people like me” would not contest a TOS alone, you would have no chance against a multibillion company regardless who is lawfully right or not, it requires a significant economic backing to even test something like the TOS, that’s what class action lawsuits do; and there been multiple examples of such cases where the big company lost, but I reckon by your logic companies that been targeted for class action lawsuits such as Sony, Nintendo etc did not have their license terms written by ”lawyers”?
And to add to this very few class action lawsuites actually come to a conclusion as the targeted company tends to prefer to settle if things start looking like a loosing case,
Additionally the term lawyer is confusing as it means different things in different (english speaking) countries- a better term is attorney as it leaves no doubt wheneither it’s a random joe or someone actually schooled and practicing the law.
Also the fact I wrote above is exactly the aspect of the justice system that patent trolls exploit, they try to target successful but small companies and then starve them with longwinded trails; it really doesn’t matter if the patent they hold is valid or not, they would do everything they can to make the process as lengthy as possible and most small entities know that their options are either go belly up or decide that it’s infact cheaper to pay up. The smaller the defendant is the less likely there will even be a court case before they settle however in rare circumstances the plaintiff loose but that’s typically because the defending party got backup from someone.
Square Enix been target for one before; http://https://www.destructoid.com/s...ing-customers/
As for the ”7 days”; They gave absolutely nothing until they fix the server congestion.
I understand people being pissed. I really do, I'm not even gonna meme on them. Shit I'm PISSED. I got to 11 in que after waiting for 2 hours only to get kicked and now it's at a fucking 7k. No thanks. I shut off the game and I'm going to sleep. I'm not gonna go all refund on SE.. but I will say it's hard to not be angry at this. I guess it's what you do with said anger... I'm going to sleep. I hope you people have a better night and get to play.
Nah, your example would only matter if your summer home was completely inaccessible 100%. It wasn't.
> You could have gone when there was little to no traffic.
> You had access off-hours when people were not playing.
> You had any number of other servers you could have connected to instead.
> Even in the most extreme case you could have transferred your char to a new server or boosted a fresh one to play that 6.0 content if you were so desperate.
There were plenty of routes to play with ranging expenses from free to not free. But you chose to ignore any alternative other than the one you stubbornly chose. And now here you are with your smoothbrain math logic. Good job smoothy.
You are getting an extra week on your subscription time. That is a matter of fact. If your next billing date was originally going to be 1/1, now it's going to be 1/8. That's an extra week. Whether or not you are able to connect and play this week is immaterial to that. The reason you are getting the extra week is because they recognize that you may not be able to connect and play, because obviously yes, if you are unable to login during off-peak times, it's going to be much harder for you.
The apple analogy isn't relevant. A material product and subscription-based access time to a game are very different things. You are getting what you paid for. The added days on your subscription are because you may not be able to play now. But, if you do manage to play now, then it's like bonus time. Get it? If you really want to use an apple analogy, it's like if you manage to squeeze your way inside the overcrowded apple store and pick up your apple, they'll still give you another apple down the line when things aren't so crazy anymore.
I never said it wasn't a major issue, I said no one has been majorly inconvenienced. I didn't say I could easily login whenever I like, I said the reason I've had an easy time is because I took off work and logged in during offpeak times. I specifically said I had to wait in a 2 hour queue the one time I had to log in during on peak. It's a game, they're compensating your lost time. If you took off work, the only thing anyone could claim being a big inconvenience, then there's no reason you should be able to get in during off-peak times. Otherwise, just play later. If they stop comping time and people still can't in, then you have an actual legitimate complaint. It's just a video game. You'll get to play eventually.
You imagine I'm saying there's no issue, I'm not. I'm saying that they've explained why they can't fix the main underlying issue and they are compensating your lost subscription time. There is no other reasonable thing you can really ask for.
I've not had it happen to me either - I would suspect that if you are in the batch of people that is being let into the game during the time your dc occurs, that results in you losing your place. It would for sure be nice if they could eliminate these problems in the queueing system. I have to imagine they're trying to figure out ways to make this smoother as it's not something that's likely to get better in the near term on its own.
Yes it is.
To answer you question, that's what happened to me for almost 4 hours. After sitting any where from 1-10 minutes I was getting kicked, but I kept a second window running, so when I was kicked I immediately just had to click "Play", and then I was back where I left the queue.
But that "ONLY" worked as long as the dreaded 2002 error didn't come up when I was trying to log back in. When that happened, I would get it over and over and over again, anywhere from 7-10 times. But once I got past that, I was sent to the back of the queue again.
Hopefully, God willing, you won't repeat my issue and never get on after 5 hours. :(
Partially right, and maybe for 'some' people entirely correct. There is another way of doing this math.
Pay for 7 days, unable to log in for seven days. 7 days granted as "compensation" for the down time.
Pay for 7, get 7, take 14 days to actually get them. That's if a week sorts all this out.
I have a question about this free playtime announcement.
Does it mean that if my sub runs out on Dec 16th, then with the 7 days added to it, it will now run out on Dec 23?
I heard the announcement but I wanna make I understand it correctly, ty anyone who answers this for me.
I was going to keep replying to some folks individually but I won't, it's getting late and tiring, and it only shows me how deep the lack of understanding actually runs here.
Some of you are willfully twisting whats happening to fit what you want it to be.
There are two saying I teach my Kids:
No one truly understand injustice ................. unless it happens to them.
And for the record I'm not saying that me not getting to play a "GAME" is injustice, just the lack of understand is what I'm drawing the conclusion to.
And the other is:
Never try to teach a dog to speak. All it does is waste your time and eventually annoys the dog.
I'm wasting too much time here on folks who are willing to twist basic economics into what they want to be rather that what it truly is. I'd swear you were working for SE if I didn't know better.
If not, then I'm honestly baffled on how some folks were able to graduate school not knowing the basics of this.
I am 52 years old. I have a day job that required me to be at work from 7am to 5pm, I'm a single Dad raising 2 kids. The only time I can get to play for a few hours evening when everything settles down is during what is called "Prime time".
Do you even know "why" is it called that? Because that is the time the vast majority of the people have available to play. You know the hours you keep insisting that everyone should avoid. Go figure, again, feels like SE employee's...............
Sure I could play at 2am, for a few hours, but what do those of you insisting I avoid those "prime time" hours and play the rumored "off hours" expect me to shuffle around to make that happen? My kids? My job?
When you have no real responsibilities, or don't care about the ones you do have, it's really easy to 'claim' to be make a bad situation work for you.
This game wasn't sold as a game that you needed to change your life to play, and to be honest no game should, but what amazes me is the "lack" of understanding that this has caused.
Leave you white knights with this blessing or curse, depending on how you take it:
May at a critical time in your life, when you really need someone's help, may you remember my statement here and have someone show you all the grace and understanding you've shown others who are frustrated in this thread.
I wasn't going to respond to anything else from you, but I have to for this last point.
If you played 1.0 you remember how bad that game was.
No matter how many issues there were, being dropped while playing was one of them. I know, I have screenshots I saved from years again where the server up and dropped me for no reason. So server stability "WAS" one of the issues from back then, that they needed to address, but instead we were being pacified with free time and other trinkets.
"AND" like now, there were those who defended that games issues all the way up until the shut off the servers.
So "WHY" did they kill a working game and rebuild it from the ground up of there were some saying it was ok, and that the whiners were make a big deal out of nothing? Because those whiners stopped paying for a game and FFXIV 1.0 started losing a lot of money.
So, if enough people call it quits again, I bet they figure out a way to get this queueing issue fixed yesterday.
Just saying..................
It is not difficult in the slightest to find out whether your server has a history long queues during content drops or expansion launches.
Given there were reports of queues across a multitude of servers when there is typically none during a period of zero new content, That should have clued you in *before* Endwalker released as to how bad the queues would be come the expansion.
You had every oppurtunity to take action yourself as soon as SQenix acknowledged the massive player influx to correct the problem you now face.
SQenix are on record stating the explicit, verifiable reason as to why they were unable to procure more servers. They even outlined the additional work they did to expand the current servers to the maximum the hardware allows in lieu of being able to add additional servers.
So we have 2 parties with access to the exact same information, one side has done all they can and explained as such to us in an incredibly open and transparent manner and the other side chose to ignore the information presented and instead screech at the aforementioned party to have "done more".
You could easily have organised a transfer in the months leading up to the expansion. You, with the same information SQenix had, chose not to move from your overpopulated server.
As i explained above:
You were unwilling to transfer to a lower population server when you had the chance, so what proof can you give that you would have moved to a new server had it come online prior to Endwalker?Quote:
For new Servers to have ANY effect whatsoever on the Queues, people need to willingly transfer themselves off their overpopulated server and onto this new one.
We have proof you would have stayed, because you did.
No, whenever people around here start screaming about new servers, they want everyone else to move away. Problem, everyone else is thinking the same thing. And look where we are. Or rather, you are. Not me, because I play on a lower population server and thus have zero problem playing the game.
Sucks for you though, maybe you should have acted on the information SQenix gave you eh?
In the meantime, I'll enjoy my 7 free days of sub
Mayhaps while you're in the queue, You can educate yourself about the history of shortages such as the ones we currently face.
You are correct don't get me wrong.but it is free time just not for all. Let's say so far for me there was 1 day where I really was not able to log in as I was kicked from the 5k+ wait 4 times. So to me it's 6 free days so far. For some it's full 7 . For some it be just a refund of sorts to the weak if not playing. Will this help the bad felling?no . But at this point what you think SE can do,they fucked it up.
I applaud you, good sir. I've done my best to refrain from responding to a lot of the folks trolling on the forums of late as I felt my own personal anger would take hold and run away with my words, whereas I see you've already stated it all rather eloquently.
Thank you, for both taking the time and sharing, it makes me feel a smidge better and less crazy amidst the silliness of late.

(Not sure if this translates via text, but I'm being 100% real here, no sarcasm, I legit appreciate your words, Risq)
