I agree completely, how is it fun to race through content? Speed runs never made sense to me...

I am sure noone gets pleasure from leveling, it is a tedious task, but you're just limiting yourself which by all means do so, just means I will avoid players with your mindset..
If you want to be one job and one job only, cool.. just means you're going to get looked aside either way, even if your job gets locked.. you have no versatility.. and I may have an elitist mindset but why should I sacrifice my skills and time I put in, so you can be happy..
noone said you guys couldn't place self restrictions on your team for completing it w/o switching, its possible.. I enjoy playing MNK/BLM at AV.
Its those like you who sneer at players who get more then one job to 50, then place restrictions upon others by dictating to us that for you to join we have to sacrifice versatility..
Sorry man, one lil dev response isn't going to change my mind on this.. They need to fix Speed runs, not place restrictions....
Another QQ thread where people that don't have required classes leveled cry and make up new ideas of how to make themselves look useful? Just level all the classes, this is how this game is supposed to be played, cause if you don't have some classes leveled - you sir, gonna be left out at some point. Even if you get devs to remove the ability to change classes in some dungeon, some parties will still not want you if you dont have the right class...
It's less about whether one likes leveling and more about the class/job you're leveling. As I said, some of us identify more with one job than the others. There's no reason why anyone should be punished for it.
Your camp causes more detriment to those who'd rather play a handful or even one class/job than the other way around. As I said in my prior post, you can still switch things up. It just wouldn't be at the expense of others.Quote:

False. If content is balanced so that numerous set ups can clear it with similar levels of difficulty, he's not going to get excluded. Well, his ability to join the group will just be measured by what spots in the group are open per role rather than what jobs he has leveled. That's a good thing, by the way, and a massive step forward.Quote:

The OP's suggestion is a step towards fixing speed runs. It's currently an issue of what the players can do to get around the content and how the content itself is balanced to encourage balanced group comps over comps that favor melee or favor range.Quote:

This^
I find it funny with all the threads talking or QQing about lack of content that speed runs seem to be all that groups do. Someone mentioned earlier about BCNMs in XI that posted a speed time and that was or could be a goal but as also stated wasn't what got you X Uber loot it got you the same loot whether a hour or 15 mins. But if content is so lacking and Yoshi and the Devs put in dungeons for us to have "fun" with, why was everyone trying to blow through it? Now you're out of ... CONTENT!
Speed kills. Period. Kills the content kills the fun. I have YET to go through ANY of the newer dungeons with ANYONE including my LS that has actually tried to kill and complete the ENTIRE dungeon. As a matter of fact you have certain Dungeons such as DH that if you DON'T run through it, you're most likely going to die quite a bit due to the eye and his shenanigans.
As for You say Rukkirii only had 3 likes? There are now 38. ;) 38 > 7. :D lol
There were a lot of middle ground ideas brought up in this thread so hopefully the best ones will be chosen or examined for a much more fuller and richer gaming and raiding experience.
they should allow you to change job during combat as long as you're not on the top of the enmity list. resetting cooldowns is more than enough punishment. not being able to change jobs whenever you want would totally go against something this game was trying to achieve in it's infancy.
we need more class/job freedom, not less.
I'm sorry I don't think anyone realized that you were the one heading the dev teams and the only one in the know about "how" this game is "supposed" to be played.
That's the ticket, why not just remove classes/jobs/any kind of distinction, let us just have 100 abils and we can swap em in and out at will so long as we're willing to suffer that cooldown reset.
Now to argue a little on both sides cause I really enjoy that, job changing(not class) in dungeons seems resonable, it doesn't contribute horribly to class stacking but would allow PLD to tank, but run as GLA through the dungeon up to the boss so they aren't so gimpy.
For all those that feel they're being slighted by the idea of locked classes/jobs and class stacking being discouraged, seriously are you so inflexible that if you can't run w/ war whm blmx6 you die, and if so why do you care who has what leveled, why for that matter have you bothered leveling more than those 3 jobs, getting told that because you can't be BLM you can't do content is f'in stupid. Encouraging that kind of bs is also stupid. I'm inclined to think that Yoshi and the devs aren't stupid and won't be bullied by a couple of players that feel like the above 2.
Anyone that thinks the game was designed so that everyone would level everything really needs to look back on every other FF, including this one pre-PLing patch. Going 1~CAP in a week or less wasn't meant to happen, it was encouraged to allow ppl to experience content before it all goes away to bring in 2.0, it's going away again. Have a nice day.
Had 3 likes when I posted it ... did you want me edit it everytime someone likes it?? no thanks..
and 41 likes is in no way the thoughts of everyone, just Dev D**k riding..
Either way I really don't even care what they to do this game.. so many people will cry and complain on these forums just to get what they want.. Its saddening..
Actually 41 to a dev post that's 30 posts deep in a thread with 20 posts after it isn't bad, imagine the number of ppl that simply don't read all of a thread, but just skip straight to the last page, all of them will have missed that post. Not to mention all the poeple that decided the rantings of a few ppl that can't tolerate change in the game they spent so long working to design ...
Crying about people crying is still crying, lead by example.
Whats funny you were against this.. now you seem to support it? should be in politics man..
If you want to misconscrue that as crying then by all means do so.. I don't care what happens to the game, I really don't I'll accept the changes either way.. I have never cried and complained for something to be changed, I have only defended aspects already in place..
So take my words out of context if you wish.. It don't matter..
Where exactly did my position change that's my first and last posts about what I think on the note of class/job changing, maybe it's just me but it looks EXACTLY the same.
Ok perhaps you don't mean to sound whiny, or perhaps after reading 60 other posts where people where whining about upcoming changes, mostly about war being "nerfed" everything sounds like whining now.
Is "Oh they need to not change this thing cause I like it, and everyone who thinks it should be changed is stupidheads for not playing the way I want them to." not whiny?
It's what I read, did you mean something else, should we all be able to enjoy the game as a single large community? Or do we all have to level every job because you did? In order to be accepted as a decent player do I have to play exactly like everyone else or can I perhaps have a play style different than others, yet equally effective?
I do apologize though if I mistook what you meant, I've no problem admitting when I'm wrong and if this is one of those times then I'm good with that.
I truly didn't mean to come off whiny Enfarious, sorry if I did sound it lol, I am at work on a saturday and these forums make me bitter lol..
I want a single large community, where everyone is viable for content whether you have only one job or not.. I just like versatility I suppose, having more people together with multiple jobs appeals more to me then some people who don't, but I know I shouldn't paint everyone with the same brush of "Level everything" so I am trying not to do so...
I dont think I called anyone stupidheads, but yes that is whiny sounding lol.. I am all for everyone being happy, and I do wish content was balanced for everyone.. my argument is just that I like to be able to switch jobs mid dungeon etc, I leveled it so I feel I have the right to, now if someone only has 1 job then ofc they can't switch, I just enjoy doing so :) that is all...
I know I may have come off a lil strong on my opinion, and will take in account of others opinions as well..
I know how ya feel in the forums make me bitter dept. I don't know how often I get all rabid and ranty after 20~30 posts of ppl bitching about something and I tend to just kinda attack things at that point from time to time.
We're all only human here after all aren't we ^^
I'm glad to see that your actually on a page similar to myself, even if we didn't exactly start out on a great foot.
Edit: oops I always forget that all my old +reply clicks stick on these forums for weeks on end lol
next you will ask for only one war and one whm in hamlet?
just lvl all your jobs
That's the ticket, oh wait maybe not all of them just the ones that people like, cause playing the game in a way you enjoy, on the jobs you like best shouldn't really be a concern for you. Just do what others want that's why your playing.
People want to be able to choose to play what ever they want, with in reason of course, being shunned by the community at large because I want to do things on DRG, hamlet being whm war only, these are the things people don't want anymore.
Jobs, if balanced well, would make them all desirable in all content and then play style and skill become something that's looked at rather than, "Do you have thm/blm? mrd/war? cnj/whm? no on all 3 sorry I don't need you. Yeah I know I'm 1/8 and you could fill in 1 of the remaining 7 slots but what good is a mnk/drg/pld?"
I left brd out because it'll get accepted for things once war whm and a few blms have been grabbed, but it's not top of the list for much.
