You realize there are a myriad of ways to collect tomes right? You don't ONLY have to dungeon crawl. You can get them from hunts, from maps, or from beast tribes. I'm sure there are other ways now I can't even think about. If you truly burn out from running a roulette or two a day, then try other things to mix it up. Yes, caps can be annoying if you want your gear quickly, but honestly, you can get gear at a pretty decent clip in this game, all while NOT taking up a ton of your daily time either. That leaves you time for enjoying other aspects of the game, like crafting, gathering, sightseeing log, whatever the current event is (GO GO POSING RANGERS!) etc.Quote:

Edit: They did, my bad for not noticing. But since they dont enjoy running dungeons more than once to get what they want, I can only repeat: You seem to look for a single-RPG experience in an MMO. And you seem to overlook that you're not playing alone. Besides that fact that SE wants us to keep playing, they also have to make sure that there are always enough people running the dungeons for those who are doing it for the first time - so they're giving us rewards and such to run said content again. This game isnt only about me, but it isnt only about you either. If you dont want to farm and grind - you dont have to do that. I know a lot of people who arent and have come to terms with not getting some shinies because those are for people who "deserve" them. -

What OP doesn't realize (likely because OP doesn't raid and hasn't been an active subscriber since 2.5) is that statics form AT THE BEGINNING of the patch, and they stay together (perhaps replacing members as they drop) for the whole raid because these raids it's critical to know your team and to know they understand how to work the fight and to be on the same page. New statics don't just form mid-patch, everyone's already cleared the content at that point and there's no interest. And people who cleared already don't want to carry/teach new people the fight. Do you have any concept of how unfair that is to high school kids who still live with their parents, or college students with a limited income (or really, anyone who can just afford to pay the subscription and doesn't have the budget for anything else, which could be said of any demographic)?
Furthermore, if people cannot clear the raids because they didn't practice their job to earn their gear and just bought it so the skill level is total crap, how fun do you think that would be for the people who DO know their jobs and who DO want to clear the raid? I'd be furious and I can't imagine I'd raid that long. I'd prolly write raiding off as a lost cause in general.
Basically, your proposition will kill raiding. People will either 1)get fed up with p2w casuals and quit 2)be a p2w casual and never clear or 3) never be able to get in in the first place.

If things are fine the way they are, people would keep doing what they are doing. If you are so worried that people would take the alternative maybe it's because what they are doing now does not appeal to them much. I play(ed) lots of F2P games, sometimes even P2W, and never spent a cent because going to the cash shop would mean that the actual game is more frustrating than fun. For P2W games, that is kind of expected at some point. In a sub game, it should not.
I don't know why you are so against it as if it were a new concept. Plenty of games do it and there are none of the disastrous consequences you speak of.

I can agree with you that it would be nice to get tokens from dungeons for the gear you want... but I also see how its making them special to keep them rare. Same goes for minions and mounts. For me a lot of fun I have with gear/glamour, mounts, minios is because they are rare and not some dirt laying around for everyone. I was really upset when they removed PvP-ranks on gear and I surely love my Fenrir that took me like 8 months to get. Each time I saw my amount of MGP go up a little I got excited!
But maybe we really are a bit different and for you all the fun only comes from HAVING stuff and not from achieving it... thats fine, but MMOs are probably not the place for you then (also: stay away from Diablo-like games, I hear they do the same and are loved by a lot of people...) -

I believe something you do not realize is: HW isnt an expac that adds completly new and different to the game and can be ignored if you dont like it. Its more like a giant patch (that you have to pay for, once) thats adds tones of new stuff. Why would you want to play ARR but ignore HW? Thats like stopping after 2.0, ignoring all patches that haven been added afterwards and complain that there isnt enough to do...
(Also: Why do I think you havent played jobquests behind level 50? Because those require HW, sooo... you can not play them with ignoring the expac)
And, the reason I never "grinded" for a specific piece of gear isnt that I really never did that - its more that I was never eager and stubborn enough and felt the need to really, really earn a bunch of pixels right away... I have farmed and grinded for gear, I've done almost every grind in this game but I've never cared enough about it to let a grind like that ruin my fun and enjoyment. -
