Please start the new jobs at level 1

From a person that is at 2.55 and about to reach the new jobs, this doesn't affect me ( obviously).

If I were starting out new, I would already have the mindset of (Leveling up to reach new content/jobs/whatever). I would know what I am getting myself into from the beginning. I am sure there's at least 1 job/class out of the starting jobs you will enjoy and level it up to finish the story. I just find it hard to imagine 1 person hating all the jobs from 2.0 thus never enjoying the game to reach the newer jobs.

I see this as "A Goal to reach to obtain these new jobs". I am a person that doesn't like to be handed anything on a silver platter. So personally I would be "okay" with this decision.

All jobs start at lv 30, so logically, the new ones should too.

If you're stating the obvious then why the misinformation? Gating jobs behind the 2.0 storyline isn't hardcore nor is having non-gated jobs casual. And that's not even addressing how silly it is to use casual as an insult.

Oh sure, this issue will not affect me since I'm 50 already and have completed the main storyline. But that doesn't mean that I can't question SE's decision to do this. Imagine a new player seeing the trailers for Heavensward and getting hyped for the game. They buy Heavensward and then find out that all the cool stuff that they saw in the trailer is inaccessible to them until they complete the 2.0 storyline. Doesn't make much sense to me.

If you really want to be level 1...go and and do FATE's and dungeons from 1-30...you aren't FORCED to go from 30 and up.
I just didn't want 50 because we'd have so many bad players derping around...at 30, we're at Haukke and got a bit of skills in our disposal.
Not fun doing 1-2 1-2 skills for x amount of levels. It's going to be real fun, can't wait.

Lol, if you think I want FFXI 2.0 you're sorely mistaken. I loved playing FFXI, but I wouldn't want a repeat of all the bad stuff that the game had too.

Like someone already pointed out here, all the other jobs have classes, by this logic the new ones should have them too, but they don't.

As for why this is a big deal for some people, some of us actually like leveling new jobs from scratch. It's stupid that they take out the small grind from 1-30 that can be done in a couple of days.

Every new player will have a different perspective on this topic. Some will say, "Oh cool! something to work towards" ( Achievement hunters more or less). Then there's the other side that will say, "Why can't we have these jobs at the start? I want to level them up as I experience the story!".

In the end, you can't please everyone someone will have to bite the bullet as someone will be happy and another disappointed. Opinions are great eh? lol

It is if it disrupts the storyline just so you can play something you want.

In what way can new Jobs disrupt the main storyline? ROG/NIN certainly didn't disrupt 2.0 (the requirement was to have a level 10 Class) .-.

I don't remember the addition of the RotZ, ToAU and WotG jobs disrupting the storyline of FFXI.

Like Nestama also pointed out, neither did the addition of ROG/NIN to FFXIV.

Hell, we're getting an entire new race with Heavensward that people can use to start the main storyline with. That has a crap load more potential to disrupt the storyline than the new jobs will.

hey it's their game, they can do whatever they want. we're given a middle ground here. not everyone likes a snooze fest from 1-50 fate grind. :/ calm down man.

Again, you're just pulling excuses out of your rear. In FFXI the new jobs were also located in the new expansion areas, so there is abosultely nothing preventing them from doing the same here.

Honestly if you really want to get into drama, technically I doubt if by FF lore that a level one Astrologian from Ishgard can really make his way through Coerthas alive, and start leveling in the level 1-10 zone.

Unless of course your absolutely determined to run through those zones. Just so you can level 1-30.

I just don't think it makes sense to have any of the new jobs running around gridania or what not 1-30. They are jobs, not classes.
Jobs as you should know how to play the class.
If you really want to make an argument why not ask SE to make a new class that starts 1-30 before going into whatever. I just feel like the gated thing is a good idea.
People should be in 'touch' with the story not with the jobs.

Lol the 1-30 Levelling experience, are you for real.

Spamming 1 ability to get gold rewards in fates, wow, such experience.

V. happy they decided to start the new jobs at a point where it's at-least mildly interesting to play rather than spam 1 button and watch stuff on TV.

To everyone saying that "all jobs start at 30". No.
All jobs can be unlocked at 30. You still need to get to level 30 first. You can also choose not to unlock the jobs at all and still hit level 50.

That said how things used to work should hardly be used as a measure for how they will work, because evidently these jobs are different.

I actually have a magical girl glamour and sometimes take long walks on the beach.
I do have in-game macros for my fan-gasms.

I'm just love a good story. For the new jobs to be open right away feels like it's not as adventerous as it should be. In games like FF6 per say, you go out and you look for this class. You aren't rewarded at the start with Shadow or whatever. You had to progress to earn. So this is what it's like for me. Opinions. Mine, sorry to intrude on some peoples gameplayu.

Yeah, this is a matter of Preference and, hearing it explained in the matter of FF6, I can get your viewpoint. My worries is that the time/gameplay investment that it takes to get to a class someone will enjoy, especially if it is what makes people buy the game in the first place. We can argue luck of the draw, but why is Dragoon easily accessible when Dark Knight is not? I don't see a solid lore reason why these new jobs don't have envoys in ARR zones to start someone who's just getting level 30 on the path of those jobs. After all, Dragoon is an Ishgardian job, yet, we were able to learn skills due to one of the masters hanging out in Corethas Central Highlands.

The point is, we lack information to really make a Lore-based reasoning that these classes are not accessible outside of Heavensward zones. The lore of Dark Knight, Astrologian, and Mechanist may very well justify the decision - but we don't have access to any of that yet. That's why I'm holding on making an opinion.

I'd be more inclined to agree with everyone that the jobs shouldn't start at 30 if 1-30 wasn't literally pointless in every way. Not like the game teaches you anything before that point about your job. Just throws you in a really easy dungeon that anyone could tank anything in, then a bunch of other ones that do the same thing. The point where you're actually forced to learn how to actually play is 30 with Haukke (to an extent) and Brayflox. Requiring completion of the main story actually gives me more hope for those starting DRK/AST/MCN since they'll have some semblance of an idea on how to do their role. I really don't see the problem with it, other than people who really want to grind the same dungeons over and over for 1-30 which... I can't say I understand.

ofcorse there is how do you get into Isgaurd then? People need to stop complaining about this there are no new classes their just jobs their specialty jobs that play in an advance way no reason for new players to be touching them till they have 1 of the other jobs at 50.

And the new race how it could be that it didn't break lore or the story hmmmmm oh I know they used magic like the sylphs to hid who they are or or they wore head coverings like yu giri but only we know what race they really are.

I think maybe the vast majority of the npcs can't tell the difference between a fat chocobo and a dodo if it's painted yellow.

how many jobs have you leveled up from 1-29 in XIV? ^^

People can also just do FATEs from 1-30 (10 FATEs for every 5 level range) and the lv17-30 dungeons 3 times each. This should be like level up from 1-30

Astrologian would make more sense to start somewhere that current AST's already reside. Namely: the First Dicasterial Observatorium of Aetherial and Astrological Phenomena. This is found in Coerthas.

Dark Knight will probably start off in one of the new zones.

MCH... well, that's most likely going to be locked behind Ishgard, which is fine to me, since it's just a DPS (and we have plenty of those already). If SE locked the new healer and new tank behind a plot wall, however, that would be an incredibly silly thing to do (gameplay > plot in MMO's). What if newbie tanks don't want to be a PLD or WAR? what if newbie healers don't want to be a WHM or SCH (which would first require them to be a DPS)?

Try to bring an Ishgardian to teach you something while he see in you a suspicious person who can turn into a heretic every moment.

Rogue are Rogue, Lominsans who are living in the shadows and welcome everyone who didn't break the codex (and find their guild).

And we somehow didn't know ROG existed until after 2.2... and newbies can play as ROG before reaching that point. Point I'm making is, gameplay should always come before plot. For people just getting into the game, it's not fair on them that something they paid for is inaccessible on release (I'm aware they wouldn't be able to play as the Jobs until they're at least level 30).

It's not like you're missing anything exciting on most of the classes from levels 1-26... After your second or even first class, the leveling process is extremely bland due to the lack of skills and rotations until around level 26 or higher (looking at you LNC and THM...).

And its not like it denies "learning" experience either, considering I still see people in brayflox who do not grasp the concept of comboing, positional or spam windbite/blizzard.

So glad it won't start at lv 1. It's incredibly boring and you learn nothing when you have like 2 skills going 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2.... At lv 30 you should have 2 combos already where you have to learn how to optimize with rotations.
