Not really? Most concerts/music festivals will only do multiple waves if the first one doesn’t eat the whole pool. Ive seen many sell out with the fanclub/sponsor priority or presale. With the exception of SDCC (who gives 1 small priority wave to previous attendees), most conventions I’ve been to are similar, one continuous sale till they're all gone.

What would a formal response say that more or less does equates to tickets sold out quicker than we anticipated. Sure they could mention the issue with the verification code, but how much diffident would that repose be from the one the Mod gave us, or what would it change? This straight up comes down to some were lucky others were not, at the core that is how con tickets are.

Its only been 3 days since the apocalypse, at least give SE the entire week to complete an investigation and come up with a more detailed statement. Everyone knows how dedicated Yoshi P is to the fans of this game.

You guys realize Bayohne isn't just a forum moderator and is literally the guy that stands next to Yoshi P on stage at FanFest, right? It's not some low level employee giving a vague statement like you're all insinuating, it's the NA community head saying they already investigated the few people that could get in without an access code and everything was kosher. The only other response they could give is how many tickets were sold, at which people would just rage that it was too few.

I'm also curious as to whether or not there was anything in any of the fine print that stated that purchasers had to have codes, or that the circumvention of the queue would result in ticket revocation?

If there wasn't, and the money is real and they get paid - even if this was a really crappy thing to have happen, can they do anything about it? I feel like there could be a legal issue if they cancel tickets at all, if there's nothing ahead of time stating that they have the right. Especially if they can't verify the use of botting programs? We already see the issues (excuses?) with bots in XIV.

IDK, I feel the 'righteous' fury against people who didn't do the right thing and over-bought so that they can scalp, but I'm not sure SE has any legal recourse, or else companies that have been selling tickets for years would have been more able to crack down on scalpers themselves.

Although I didn't get to get my ticket, I'll likely still go to Vegas and meet up with my friends that way. Hopefully next time things go better and more planning will be done.

So I know alot of people who didn't get tickets, had already gotten rooms, and taken time off of work in the hope they'd get a ticket, and adding more dates for a second festival in the US doesn't solve those problems, but why not do it, clearly there's a demand, if you do it in vegas if the RIO still has the room available you might even be able to just extend the event a few days for a second festival and not have more setup charges, yes it would involve more rental fees likely for the equipment, but you can hold mostly the same panels, and give relatively the same info and the attendees would probably be thrilled just for a chance to be there sharing in the camaraderie and having a chance to see their friends. If the Rio doesn't have the space, maybe look elsewhere and see if you can't find someplace to hold another event.

You could also see if there's anyplace else available and hold a Fanfest Overflow Event where you still set up games and things, and just let all the panels and announcements be streamed into it with a projector. Would mean you'd need to make more prizes and things for the overflow event, but that shouldn't be too bad, in 2014 you ran out of prizes, sadly I didn't make it to 2016 so I don't know if there were similar problems there.

Also will the change back to the Rio mean that volunteers will be needed again, because that's how I got a ticket back in 2014, and I had a blast just helping out at Odin and the Frontline Games, still got to see the panels and interact with people.

You knowingly posted in a thread that's already over 30 pages deep with people expressing their opinions, concerns, and frustrations over recent events that are as of yet unprecedented for the FFXIV community as a whole. Where was I complaining? Not once did I imply that a formal statement would help me (or anyone else) get a ticket. But I do believe that as a paying subscriber and a fan, the community should at the very least get answers so we know what to do moving forward. If anything, that would "help" people who both do and don't have tickets in the future. I'm pretty sure you can sympathize with that.

I don’t normally spend any time on the forums but this issue still has me upset. I know the community team, showclix, and SE won’t do anything about it, but a true sorry and explanation would go a long way. But I know deep down they could care less, they got their money so that’s all they care about. They know there was a glitch in the system and all the have to say about it is “it’s all good” aka “we got what we needed”.
This game isn’t as popular as it once was and I’m sure a lot of us know that, so how tickets could sell out in under an 20 min compared to 10 hour from the last time is just tremendously unbelievable. Not to mention “they had more tickets available” so that’s a bold face lie. There is something truly wrong but they aren’t going to look further or mention anything because again they got their money as I said before.
I’ve tried to be loyal to this game as best I can but left and right they keep disappearing me. The “bigger budge” they so called had hasn’t been seen. Just thinking about game content we have seen less and less of it from 2.0 all the way till now. All the items they keep putting on the cash shop, when it should really be in the game as crafts or event items. But no they rather make money from it and for the price of more then a months sub. I’ve turned a blind eye to it for far to long. I’m sure there is more I’m forgetting to mention but in the end what I’m getting at is they don’t care. I wish I could believe otherwise but they honestly don’t, if Bayohne’s response to this has anything to say for it.
Anyways just wanted to add my two cents here since I can’t get this crap off my mind. I don’t expect it to brought up on the live letter especially since they didn’t even bother to mention it on Duty Commenced yesterday with the community team manager there. So yeah that’s about all I have to say.

The only way to show a business what you want is to inform them with your wallets. But if you're going to stay subbed and give them money but complain everyday then that doesn't help.

Thats just one more reason why alot of people are so ticked off about this, I'm sure some of us if not alot of us, can't just go on a trip to fan fest every time it pops up especially the ones overseas. I haven't been on a proper vacation in a decade, and I thought this would be a good way to get some things out of the way that I never done before but always wanted to do, such as going to a gaming convention, Las Vegas,a concert, and going on vacation with my wife for the first time(we never had a honeymoon) and shes WAAAYYYY more into this game than I am. Either way, we are still going to Las Vegas, staying at the same hotel the fan fest is at but not attending it obviously, not because I can't get a refund, but because there is still plenty of fun things to do in Vegas, And we had our heart set on this trip working out one way or another. that being said, the next time we try to attend is probably several years from now when they have it in japan, not exclusively because the fan fest will be there, but because its japan, and we never traveled overseas before. Heres something that doesn't add up though.

So they did TECHNICALLY open up to us in this thread. that being said. I much rather there be a sticky on the top of the general forums, an official post on twitter, facebook and all forms of social media that they typically post to. This is the equivalent of a bunch of angry people in a meeting room, someone opens the door a little bit for a quick word, shuts it immediately, leaves, and doesn't answer any questions afterwards. I think alot of people would be at ease if they just post some very basic data such as:

amount of tickets available for sale:
amount of tickets sold during access code error:
amount of tickets sold per each minute after 12 for the sake of a trendline.

this would also back up what was already said, but thats neither here nor there because:

1. the ticket vendor was still terrible, inefficient, and failed to do the one job they were supposed to do which is manage a queue of ticket sales.

2. access codes were a bad idea because anyone can share them with anyone else, and ideally it should take an access code AND logging into the ffxiv account the access code was sent to in order to purchase a ticket.

all this aside, there seems to be alot of people claiming they have nonrefundable plane tickets and hotel rooms or something to that effect, but making no effort to organize their own little fan fest for people who couldn't aquire tickets. your still in vegas. you can complain all you want, but if your only motive for going to fan fest was merch, buy it off of ebay after its over. if it was simply to observe it, go on the live stream or whatever that they are doing. if it was for the concerts your kinda sol, but really you hear the same music when you play the game. some people just like going to events and being a part of it.

There was a survey somewhere about "if you tried to purchase ffxiv fan fest 2018 tickets, did you succeed?" and the results were about 50/50 at least concerning everyone who speaks english and could read the survey.

so if the amount of english speaking people (american, canadian, or whatever) that obtained tickets is almost equal to those that did not, and if everyone that was unable to purchase tickets went anyways, you would still have a LARGE gathering of ffxiv players. all you need now is someone to host/lead a massive get together, and for people to follow his lead. sure it wouldn't be the same as a ffxiv fan fest 2018, but you would still be doing the one thing you can't do unless you go to vegas, and thats meeting with your fellow guildmates and friends in person. you already play ffxiv together, so why get so upset over going to a festival about it together.(dont get me wrong, I was REALLY ticked off about it for most of the week and that is an understatement). do something different, go to a bar together, go gambling together, theres no shortage of things in vegas you probably haven't seen or done yet, and you'll be doing them with your friends and guild mates. bond over something other than the game itself.

I would not call that opening up at all. I would call that an automated message similar to what you get when you send in support tickets. Maybe the response wasn't actually automated, but as I said before, it sounded sterile - that it was just a "hey, we looked into this. Everything is fine" when everything is not fine and did nothing to answer any of our questions. Again, not hating on Bayohne, but that is not talking with us. That is talking AT us.

Oh yeah. This subject irks me - the access code thing. This account has had a sub running since Aug 2013; never dropped, never got a code. My ALT account (I really wanted that Twintania mount, don't judge), has been subbed maybe 7 months total and MIGHT have been for part of the time period SE said you needed to get a code. It got a code.

I have it on good authority that there was a JP website that had snatched up a bunch of tickets and were reselling for $500 a ticket. Up until a day or two ago it was up, but SE took it down. However tickets were sold through that and people did buy them.

So their claim of "only a small number" is a complete crock.

I have it on good authority that there was a JP website that made the claim that you are full of it.

If the NA community management team is actually in charge (rather than being responsible for the post), they need to hire more than 4 people for the team or whoever. We know of at least these community representatives: Sicycre, Luxpheras, Bayohne, Zhexos, and Ridrina being recently added who I believe was on last Friday's Duty Commenced. They all are in the Southern California area. If they were to even add a West Coast/East Coast Fanfest, they'd need an actual East Coast team.

As it is, Square Enix needs to be pressed and shown that FFXIV fans want to attend FanFest and as such the demand has far exceeded what supply is there. If Las Vegas is so set, UNLV can work as a good convention center. Not too far off strip and you wouldn't have as many "line management" issues.

Think they'll address this during the Live Letter? I don't, at least not in a way that will satisfy anyone. Prove me wrong!

They sold out of tickets and people are coming up with some pretty insane conspiracy theories to explain it as something other than they sold out of tickets.
It's kind of not possible to appease that

there's even a lot more than you'd expect throwing out the desire to take all the tickets away from people that got them and do it all over so they can have another shot...

Conspiracy theories? When you have a post from a GM that says that for a certain amount of time the entrace was open for everyone? When you have people that jumped the queue and when you have more than enough people that said that they did not need to put in the code due to the error and that the link with the code itself was not a one time only deal? When you have people that got the message that tickets are reserved for them and got a timer and only after that found out that it does not reserve the ticket at all? How are any of those insane conspiracy theories?

We also do know that at least a handful of tickets are used for jp players.

Its not that it was sold out, its how it was sold out. And that was honestly really bad.

They talked about FanFest tickets on Live Letter. NA is sold out completely. What makes me mad though, is that Europe is having a presale for active players and doing a sale for everyone a week later. Why didn't we have that option? They also said that they were expecting similar time to sell out as last FanFest but within 2 mins of the tickets going on sale, 6000 people were already in queue. So "next time" they'll try to get a bigger venue. So SE is really saying "sucks to suck" if you didn't get a ticket.
