Unacceptable Lag / ISP Throttle (Petition)

I was pretty adamant about trying to make a major push with the Verizon FiOS lag post here some time ago, as well as a lot of other very similar issues that share the same exact problem. What I am referring to is the '2-10 second' lag that many have been experiencing. With time passing by and monthly subscription looming, I have been forced to make a decision that I didn't want to make because of the rough lag on the game. Will I subscribe to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn? Before I dive into multiple sources and threads, I am hoping this thread becomes utilized as players responding to the imminent problem that this issue needs to be addressed or at the very least some communication from Square Enix should be displayed confirming the issue. While I myself, and many others can understand that problems always arise when games launch, I just personally have never seen a lag issue like this before on an MMO, and I have quite a bit of experience. At the end of this thread, I am hoping that I can command some type of response to confirm that this issue is being addressed, or at least get some legwork in on the solution.

Without a shadow of a doubt, I enjoy the game. I have tried different classes and visited every zone. I have completed the major quest line and even done some end-game. I look forward to expansions of the game so it can grow as well as the community. Unfortunately, all of this competes against the clear problem that the game is very difficult to play on said lag problems. It has almost been a complete calender month since the game officially launched, and I personally have experienced the problem since then, while others just recently encountered it. For me, it's all about communication. So since communication is the problem, it has forced me to try and pull out everything I can so maybe I can make a difference as a voice.

    The clear facts are here:

    1) This is a widespread problem. Meaning it isn't located in just one state, or country.

    2) While ISP Throttle has been the blame game, there is some evidence of a bit of throttle, yet just about every ISP has been listed. Meaning it isn't just a handful of ISPs.

    3) There is a sticky thread on the Technical Forums that addresses this related issue. It is presently over 104 pages long. Meaning SE is somewhat aware of a problem.

    4) A thread was created by myself on the Verizon FiOS forums and has been updated as we progress to open communication to the ISP. Verizon has not yet commented on this said issue. Meaning, it cannot be confirmed it is centralized with certain ISPs.

    5) Some users experienced a complete stop to this problem last week, as well as myself. Meaning, it was halted for some time by something, or someone, but it has come back in short time.

I want this thread to serve a purpose, so I will now post some related threads that try to bring attention to the general problem. Please take some time and briefly skim over some of these threads if you are interested, most are from these forums while some may be from companies or youtube footage of the issue.

Alright, while that list is pretty long, there is actually quite a lot more threads out there addressing the problem.

So my message is very clear:

I decided to make this thread because today I logged in, and to be honest, I haven't logged in as much lately. Why? The game is becoming very unenjoyable. I tell myself that it will be fixed, and most likely it will, so it's not a big deal at the end of the day. I noticed I haven't subscribed to the game yet. With about a week and maybe some days left until I have to give Square Soft- ahem, Square Enix my VISA to pay for this game monthly, I gave it a second thought.

Unfortunately with this next paragraph, I cannot be as professional.

If you're going to treat me like nobody that just pays you cash, then I will treat you like you need to be treated on these forums. You could've delayed the game until PS4 launched and it would've made no difference on your sales. I can't believe this problem still exists, and I cannot believe you let a sticky thread hit 104 pages with no response. Great job on the game, but guess how many people do not sign up for your game if this problem persists? It isn't rocket science. If you need to overhaul stuff and bring down the servers for an extended time to fix this, then do it. Reimburse time. Say your sorry, but don't continue the current method of communication. Riding this problem into the sunset is the worst thing you can do.

So now that the small rant is over with, I want to get back to this thread being more positive than negative.

From what I have read, everyone enjoys FFXIV: ARR. I certainly do. I invested quite a bit of time into it, and even pre-ordered. I am excited for the development of the game and it's future. Thank you for your product.

But unfortunately, I cannot subscribe to your game while this continues. There will be some replies that are to be expected from the community, but take it as you will.

Anyone else can /sign or vent if you need to if you are experiencing these issues.

thank you for this, just about everything I wanted to say to SE.

I am having this issue too, the dreaded constant random 90k, had none of this during Beta 4 and Early Access, all this started right after they added new severs, and it was not this bad, it got worse each time they did maintenance, amazing how that works right?

anyways, I am waiting for the next Apology Letter lol, because that seem to be the pattern here :/

Between this and the fact that their account page won't LET me pay them, I'm having a hard time wanting to do so. So /signed. Make this right, SE.

I am also experiencing a considerable amount of lag. Up until today I would have the occassional 1-2 seconds worth of lag (I'm in the US on a JP server) but right before the maintenance today it became very frustrating. I am simply trying to mine and I will have 5-8 seconds where I am waiting for whatever action I just inputted to register.

I hope this is a temporary issue that will be resolved soon because this makes the game unplayable. I shutter to think of what it will be like when I go back to battles.

Although I posted the following in an earlier thread, if this becomes the catch-all thread for our grievances with regards to connectivity issues, I want to make sure I'm part of it. Like the OP, I am fond of FFXIV and would certainly subscribe were it not for these issues.

I am frequently experiencing error 90000. It happens wantonly and without regard to what I was I doing in game at the time, here is what I have noted:

    - It seemed do be more prominent during peak time on Friday evening, disconnecting every 2 to 7 minutes. (roughly)
    - Playing later into the night, I found myself able to play without experiencing disconnect issues.
    - Now today (Saturday) the problem is back as bad ever. Error 90000 all over the place.

During this issue, I was able to:
-- Stay connected to Ventillo with ping between 31 and 47
    -- Stay connected to Steam
-- Stream a video playlist from YouTube in 1080p without waiting for buffering

I have attempted the following solutions to fix this error, none were successful:
-- The classic, "restart your computer."
-- Resetting my router with a power cycle.
-- Looking for a router firmware update.
    -- Forwarding FFXIV's ports.
-- Using a VPN (I know some have reported this as a solution with the thinking that ISPs throttling FFXIV's traffic was the issue, it didn't work for me.)

I'm in Texas USA with Grande Communications as my ISP.

    I'm rooting for you SE.

I have the same problem but its gotten to the point where it actually cuases my WIFI to lag and auto reset. If im not in FF14 I can use the internet fine all day long and even play other games online... soon as I get in FF14 lag kicks in about 20 minutes in and resets my WIFI... getting seriously annoyed not being able to properly play the game I paid for. Also im like 30 lvls behind my guildmates due to all the connectivity issues and not being able to play the game as much as I would like!

I've contacted Charter Communication twice about the latency and lag and was told they don't throttle internet speed unless you are really abusing it. Normal online games are no issue and he found nothing wrong on their end. I'm in the central U.S. I am on PS3 which probably enhances the effect, but even in smaller FATEs I use a move and just stand there. If I move after doing so, I just slide around the screen. I've ceased playing for the time being because it just isn't any fun right now. Yay for GTA5.

I agree, the game is great and last week was the first time I was able to play for a few hours at a time, albeit still having 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 lag! But as of a couple of days ago the game has become unplayable, 90k disconnects after a couple of minutes of logging in. No doubt this will be fixed, and maybe I will be back to play, but not at the moment.

Since the official launch I have had nothing but 90k disconnects, apart from 3 or 4 days last week. I've hardly been able to get a good session in, I've wasted many hours trying to troubleshoot the issue and many hours reading everyone else's woe's. When is SE going to do something about this, or at least acknowledge us. It's infuriating how SE have not bothered to adequately communicate the problems, for me (and maybe most others) it's a real killer.

And the sad truth is, even though there seems to be a lot of us having these issues, the majority of players seems to be ok.

First of all, thanks for taking the time to write this. Your delivery was a lot more eloquent than I could've been. The lack of communication is the thing that really bothers me. I don't own a business, but it's not "rocket science". SE - Let us know that you are at least trying to fix the problem. If SE doesn't realize the issue with a 1 month trial being eaten up by 3 weeks of unplayable lag...Then they are doomed. I pissed my money away on FFXIV 1.0 and, although I really enjoy ARR, I don't want another SWTOR that goes to heck in a month. Every MMO I've ever played has had issues, but I can't remember the last MMO I played recently where issues weren't fixed timely, or at least acknowledged. I'm sorry, I don't consider you blaming our ISPs as acknowledgement because the issue is with SE. 104 pages of people having this issue is NOT our ISPs fault. It's not reasonable for thousands of people to contact a variety ISPs to get this issue resolved (even though I've tried and I'm sure most have).
