Problems with connection (R0) lag

I been having constant R0 issues, where the game just pauses itself for around 1-10 secs then everything catches up. This happens every 1 or 2 mins, and more frequently in instances and duty finder.
I try to ping the FF servers, loosing a good amount of packets not at the server but on the way to the server. I also hear people say that JP servers dont have this issue. I havent had a chance to actually try it out.
Also my friends that live down the street (woodbridge) dont have any problem. my friend that lives in NYC also dont have any problems.

Things I tried

-Re-log (yes i tryd this couple of time and I kinda regret trying it)
-Reset router and modem
-Restarting the computer
-reinstalling client

So far nothing has worked

My ISP Verizon Fios (Northern VA (springfield))
50dl and 25ul
My Ping test is good no packet lost whatsoever
No problems playing other MMOs (tera, gw2) or fps (BF3)

was running fine till yesterday, now ive been lagging since.

I also live in Northern VA and have Verizon FiOS.

My connection was fine through the beta, and fine through early access. Last night (8/26/13), I started lagging pretty badly similar to what KMarsara described. The game will pause for a few seconds at a time and then catch up.

It's really inconvenient for healing.

Today (8/27/13), I was able to connect to the game, but disconnected and then my entire internet just went down until I closed out of the FFXIV client.

Things I did: Reset router, restarted computer, port forwarding.

I called Verizon, and they reset my IP. I was able to get into the game and stay in the game after they did so (although it was a close call when I was completing a quest turn-in), but it was still pretty laggy with the pauses for a few seconds at a time.

I called Verizon back to have them run a diagnostic on my connection, and they didn't find anything. They offered to reset my service and did so.

I haven't been able to get back into the game because of the login throttle, but I'm wondering if there's a problem with Verizon. If it's not a problem with Verizon, if someone could offer any potential solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

As a side note, I'm not sure what good "sending" and "receiving" numbers are, but both of mine seem to drop to 0 from time to time.

Florida here, also Verizon Fios. Getting between 0-6k (sometimes 20k but rare) "Receiving". It was completely fine a few days ago and so forth until yesterday and today (Aug 27 / Aug 28). Happens in FATES and Duty Finder. Super annoying when trying to heal people.

The last time I had this is the last end of Phase 3 Beta, when others were feeling and seeing it too.

I live in Malaysia and my connection was fine through the beta and early access but 48 hours ago i started lagging like massive lag spikes i would be doing my combo and no damage pop's out and everything freezes for 10sec-50sec and everything is suddenly on fast forwards mode x4 and it reapeats once again , Even last time i would watch how people run pass without any prob they walk right pass and they don't seem 2 be lagging but now when i see people thier rubber banding or fastforwarding Thier BLINking around! T_T anyone got a way 2 fix this?

Been having this issue over the last two days as well. It's really hit or miss, but when it hits, I get about 3-10 seconds of delay on everything. Tried playing on both a Verizon and Time Warner connection and have the same issue on both.

Hoping maintenance addresses it tonight, but if not, just adding my name into the list of people having this issue.

Same here, I'm all the way from Malaysia as well. It's been fine in Phase 4 (and was even better in Phase 3) but I guess the influx of new players is causing this. Either way it's nearly impossible to manage enmity and all that important "in the moment" attacks. I've been unable to complete my story chain because hey, 15 second delays make it impossible to complete the dungeon.

We'll see if it improves after the maintanence. I hope so. I dont want to have to move to JP servers and split up the group even more lol.

glad i am not the only one. I know receiving 0 is really bad. Essentially receiving 0 means you are not getting any response from the server. i rather have more send 0s than receive 0s

Progress just ground to a halt. I thought it was just my net connection so I tested a download yesterday and it's at full speed.

Ah well, we've got to wait until the maintanence is over to see if it fixes the problem. I hope so. JP is slippin and sliding around without any problems and it's really tempting to just hop over there.. and abandon all my legacy mates lmao.
