Yup, Another Thread: I Hate Addons and SE Needs To Ban Players Who Use Them!

(I am already expecting negative comments because so many on these forum users make excuses for those who cheat and violate TOS which more than likely includes themselves.)

Just today, I was in a 24 man raid tanking and during the first boss of such raid during a random mechanic that is not predictable...I noticed something strange about one of the other tanks. Every mechanic that had some form of aoe that is not predictable, they premoved to the best location to avoid it. I thought it was just latency on my end but viewers of mine(I don't have a large following but mostly people I play with) noticed the exact same thing.

This wasn't on just one boss, this continued to occur in the second and third boss as well. So I checked my playback and I noticed this player move 5+ secs before any indicator was available to even tell the raid there was going to be a mechanic. Reminder, this 24 man raids aoe for many bosses are not static mechanics, but are random on where and how they hit especially with this player moving even before the visual or audio prompts are even known.

If you use addons because you need to cheat, try not to make it so bloody obvious! Bottomline, I reported them with the video and I hope SE bans them permanantly. I hope one day SE finally cracksdown in some manner with these cheaters!

No!!! The multiple excuses from the few in this forum post thus far intentionally or not ignored what I directly stated. The cheater in question MOVED BEFORE ANY CAST BAR, BOSS MOVEMENT, BOSS TURNING, or any form of indicator what so ever. When we were in the middle of this fight, they moved away from the player who got targeted by the AOE during that phase of the fight before any VISUAL OR AUDIO QUES!!! They did this 5 seconds before the boss event for the aoe such as the cast bar or the boss moving even happened.

I stated this fact multiple times with every person you claimed "gave reasons" ignoring my own statements. So keep deluding yourself...I know what I observed for 20 minutes from this cheater during this Nier raid. So no matter how many of you who want to defend or placate cheaters in attempt to make me appear to be a liar...go for it! I'll let SE decide what the proper decision will be with the evidence I provided them!!!

Why does noone read my original statements. I know the Nier fights myself incredibly well! Yet I don't move away from aoes until I get some form of visual or audio indication of this fact. The cheater moved 5+ seconds away from the player targeted to the other side of the boss before any cast bar, boss movement, or boss turning, or any indicator happened what so ever. No amount of "farming" allows you to have powers of clairvoyance to move that early before a aoe event happens.

As for "being wrong", look at my post history going back years...when I was mistaken on something, unlike many...I will admit it as I have in the past. But try harder next time to discredit the fact that illegal third party tools do exactly as I have seen and as many others have as well!

On a more serious note, these continued comments calling me a "liar", "egoist", "prideful" etc...is exactly why I use a alt toon for these forums. I can't even imagine the level of harassment I would get again for stating my observations.

I care about FF14, I don't like cheaters that ruin this game. And I will continue speaking out against cheaters as much as I can until SE does something to finally deal with them. I mean... I sort of get the general message and title of the thread. A crackdown on the mods does need to be done. However, this story is missing information and doesn't really give us enough information. It's possible depending on the fight that you can know where all the safe spots are beforehand.

IF Se did da better job at supplying what the people want and obviously have use of, people wouldn't use the addons so its SE's own fault so don't ban anyone

What boss is this? I highly doubt this story.

Which raid? Because I'm drawing a blank on intro bosses that aren't completely predictable if you fought them enough times.

I promise you that the raid in question had mechanics that in no way could another player possibly know precisely where to move beforehand. If you are familiar with all FF14 raids and their mechanics, you can easily deliberate the possibilities. And I don't give further context and I use a alt toon on these forums for a reason. Yeah I agree and you're absolutely right, Chloe. There's nothing wrong with most mods or addons - they are helpful utilities or purely cosmetic. There are some addons that allow people to cheat in PVE and PVP content (for example, autotargetting and stunlocking addons in PVP, or the addon described by OP) and that's the stuff that needs to be aggressively stamped out.

People need to stop being so intellectually lazy and painting all mods/addons with the same brush and having a melty every time somebody else uses some asinine addon. It's throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The problem isn't mods and addons. The problem, as it always has been, is cheaters.

Inb4 some moron who cannot into reading comprehension says "but addons are against TOS!".

It was a Nier raid. And all 3 of the first bosses from each of those raids has AOES that in no way could another player move to a precise safe location before even the visual or audio alerts are given by 5+ seconds.
Again believe me or not...it does not matter. The general player base knows these addons exist and to pretend otherwise is kinda lol.

So it was either the robot on wobbly stilts, the pillar with wings, or the poo titan... which are all extremely predictable...

It's not a matter of people pretending tools don't exist. It's that we can see this story of yours is a complete fabrication.

Between the first boss of the three nier raids I can’t think of a single cryptic mechanic

The closest I can think of to a cryptic mechanic in the first boss of an alliance raid would either be the proximity AOE’s on void blizzard 4 encouraging you to run far away from the icicles when they form the safe zone on dun scaith boss 1 or mustadio making it not 100% clear if you should face the hole or the rest towards him

The one that, if you watch the cast bar, tells you whether it is centrifugal or sidestriking? You know, central being central and side being side?? no, there is no telegraph... other than the cast bar???

Or...here is just a thought...you are dishonestly claiming that all mechanics from the first 3 bosses are fully predicatable because you yourself maybe uses addons and you get upset when legit players speak out against cheaters. Most players will know you are lying just by reading how certain aoes from those fights ARE RANDOM and no way "extremely predictable" for someone to move 5+ seconds before the visual and audio prompts are either seen or heard to move to a specific location from the aoe. But hey...who knows right?!?!

They won't answer because then people can disprove it without a shadow of a doubt.

Not saying mods that tell you what you need to do don't exist...but we are saying THIS instance did not happen.

Regardless of what specific mechanic OP is referring to, the main point is simply about using mods to cheat in general. I don't see the point in getting angry and quibbling over details. If it's possible to do that in ANY content, then OP has made their point. Didn't we just have an incident where someone in a "world first" Ultimate team was caught using mods to cheat?

Please tell me how you determine the "tell" of which player this aoe targets to allow the cheater to move 5+ seconds ahead of time away from them before anyone else knows who the target is? Please tell me how! I want to know this "tell" you claim to know regarding this specific mechanic I observed!

I literally saw the cheater move away from the player who was going to be targeted 5+ seconds before the boss even changed the direction he was facing to the opposite side! Mostly every other player in the raid did not move for the aoe until they saw the direction change of the boss like everyone else. Yet you want to still claim that this was done without addons? Yea right...

I get so freaking tired of others making excuses for those who cheat!(Because more than likely they are a cheater themself!)

When energy assault is about to occur the boss will turn in a specific direction regardless of where the tank is standing (a common tell a mechanic is about to happen) then he will contract and start spitting out the AOE’s, you generally have about 3 seconds to resolve it before you get hit and they specifically don’t do much damage so you can afford to get clipped by 1 or 2 trying to get out of them

It’s a rather short tell but the idea is there is no reason to be far away from that boss except in the rotating satellite phase so if you stay close to him it’s easy to dodge the mechanic

Don't get me wrong, I know these things exist, and I dislike that they exist, but you are capable and allowed to provide information about the scenario you're talking about as long as you don't start giving player's names(naming and shaming).

It's not like the majority of fights in this game aren't scripted either. I've run certain fights so many times at this point that I naturally know when most mechs are going to happen without paying much attention.

The issue is that fabricating stories about people supposedly cheating doesn't actually provide any awareness benefit when it's something everyone already knows about that hasn't lived under a rock isolated from the world for the past 25 years. People have made cheat engines and tools for every game out there, people are going to download and use them. Game companies do things to try and stop it and it doesn't work for more than a short period of time before said tool makers find away around the new prevention steps.

This is was basically just an attempt to start a witch hunt coupled with a cry for attention.

Lol, and apparently anyone not buying his story is now a cheater as well. Despite the fact I've had nothing but a clean install of this game since the beta's before 1.0 even released... Apparently visual prowess and memorization are now 3rd party cheat tools

I'm absolutely the first one to laugh at people needing an add-on to tell them where the yellow circle's going to be that tells them where an attack's going to be and they STILL act like there's challenge to this game. This thread is just filled with way too many holes in the story, like you're using a napkin over a phone's receiver to disguise your voice to tell us the mailman's delivering mail.

99% of the people who have done those raids would be able to tell them the tells....which is the cast bar. If, by some small miracle, they mean the random player chosen as a target for the line AoE/Ahk Mohrn attack....the cast bar still indicates when it's a good idea to potentially spread out.

My Roe in Hydaelyn, the copied factory bosses have commands in those raids that give you an idea on where the aoe is going to land. If you're going to go through this effort to look for bots or mods in the game, please come to pvp where it is actually pretty rampant.

OP also said it was another tank and I'm definitely not out in Narnia if I'm not the MT. Energy Assault is also pretty obvious even before the cast bar starts and all a tank has to do is slide a couple steps over if they aren't out in Narnia.

Not that there aren't the things described by the OP. Just doesn't sound like this instance was necessarily an example of it.

I have to admit, I actually missed the part where they said they reported the player. My bad on that one. If you're going to report someone, you should be absolutely sure they did it. Another player simply moving their character normally, even if the timing seems suspiciously convenient, is not evidence enough to submit a cheating report. I would hope no punitive action will be taken against the accused player based purely on OP's assumptions, but you never know when a report might land in the lap of a trigger-happy GM.
