The reasons why I am pessimistic about Viera men showing up in Tokyo is because of how they introduced the race and how Viera are being marketed on their websites, the wandering dramaturge's dialogue about them, the bugged dialogue in the french version, how accurate the leaks have been and because of how silent Yoshida has been on the whole thing.

But why go out of your way to say Viera is the last race to be developed?:confused: I guess it is meant to be an intentional troll to then show up in Tokyo and surprise us with Hrothgar.

Have a look at how Viera is listed on Square-Enx's press website. You would think they would have titled them as "Shadowbringers - New Race Female Viera Artwork" if the males were developed. I could totally be wrong about this though as they could just as well be planning to surprise us with Viera men but it doesn't seem likely to me.

Which ever they end up presenting to us whether it be the Hrothgar or Viera men, I just want them to look awesome.

It also says 'New Race Viera' but there isn't an asterisk saying 'Female only' etc - I think they're required to state the minimum. Just like we don't have information regarding Hrothgar or the next class. All boils down to the next fanfest for which the full advertisement will be unleashed.

In fact, I thought they would be required by law to actually state if something is limited like that. If you're introducing a new race and using that as an advertisement centre point - but the race itself is 'limited' so it's only 'half' of the race. Then those who preordered have grounds to get their cash back. But, seeing as those who preordered have those 'preorder' items; welp, don't think the preorder can be cancelled after that. Slyness.

That's also telling, imo. Because what was one of the very first things they said about BLU? That it was a Limited Job. They went on to explain what that meant after the initial reveal but they at least went on to tell us that much right off the bat. That's missing for Viera.

I think it's just furries that are very vocally excited about a potential furry race, which is valid, but I've seen a LOT(my poor eyes) of male viera fanart, both from the JP and Western community.

The fact that we get worked up over it just makes it better. In fact, given how certain we were that Viera were going to be announced (thanks, Bugs), if he'd just waited and announced all of Viera last it wouldn't have generated nearly as much hype, the same way we see Gunbreaker/tank and go "oh, Dancer/healer must be next time." Splitting it just causes the speculation to go through the roof.

Again, I still am pessimistic enough to believe in 2 gender-locked races, but I'd love to be wrong about that and right about this.

I still ronso is a pretty cool race lore wise, I just don't think it has very high player demand, which if it still gets added (in my opinion anyway) would be some nice variety, but it's not this heavily requested race.

So was looking at EU law regarding misleading advertisement and this it what found:

Aye, that's fine. It's the fact they're saying 'The Viera' and not 'Female Viera' They should be putting down a disclaimer if its genderlocked - especially since you have to pay up to have the race unlocked. Anyone who knows their lore about Viera knows that the males exist, and in a game where none of the races is genderlocked at the moment it warrants the question 'So, is this female only?' aye i don't like it either but it currently is fine as an advertisement only people who know Viera are asking where are males? whereas those who don't know Viera are asking(if they are asking) So is this female only? and its this greyness that i don't like there is nothing wrong with it but it feels wrong kinda hard for me to put into words :s

But it's no different to not-advertising something else that may or may not be in the game. They don't need to outline every location, dungeon and monster that will be in the story, so from a legal/advertising standpoint I don't see the presence-or-absence of male Viera as being an issue.

They have advertised some things that will be in the game; Viera-as-currently-shown are one of them. We will get the Viera shown in the press pictures, and thanks to character customisation we will certainly get Viera designs that are not shown in the press pictures.

Which is what my post is about it's not a legal issue it's a personal one i just don't like how they have advertised Viera.

They do not have to show/advertise everything but what they do advertise has to be delivered unless stated it is not possible with the advertisement ie 'Not in game footage', the only instance i have seen SE actually mislead on advertisement for ffxiv has been the 3.1 trailer where they show mechanics of dungeon bosses that never happen in game everything else has been fine by legal standpoint maybe 4.1 trailer using eureka music

Unfortunately, that's how marketing works. If they'd just announced everything one way or another, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as popular a topic. If we knew from the get-go that Viera were gender-locked, there would have been about a week of rage and then people would have moved on - look at BLU. It still comes up once in a while, but mostly people ignore it. And given that Paris was only a few days before presale, they would probably have hurt their preorder sales. If they'd announced the males with the females, there would have been some rejoicing, and after a few days there would only be a handful of really happy folks discussing their plans and a handful of unhappy folks talking about how wrong the look is, and everybody else would be content to sit back and wait for the benchmark.

Humans thrive on drama, controversy, and the unknown, and marketing takes advantage of that. They know how popular Viera was to the fans, and I don't think they wanted to risk playing with hype over another class seeing that BLU has soured people and any speculation about GUN would probably have trended much more pessimistically than this has. Either way, if they'd announced one way or another already there wouldn't be a 311-page thread with people working themselves into a froth of anticipation over the final info.

You guys are going so deep into your hopefulness now lol. Saying that Ronso is any less of a furry than a bunny race is ridiculous. And thinking that they would have to state outright that they aren't releasing a male Version because of laws is pretty out there. I mean, all the info will be out before shadowbringers comes out either way.

Viera--and pretty much all playable races in ff xiv are kemonomimi the japanese term for humans with animal ears/horns. That is a distinct difference from say, the Lupin a race of anthropomorphic wolfman with muzzles, that is undoubtly well--furry like the people who wear full out fursuits.

This isn't me stating one is more likely than the other (Though personally I think if we get a race they'll just be buff miqo's with fur around the neck but still human faces--which would still be kemonomimi) but addressing someone stating a full fur race like Ronso is more desired by the GENERAL fanbase than something like Male viera, which I don't know is intensely desired, but again people who would want a ful fur race are most likely quite niche and furries themselves.

Actually curious on how it's out there. I mean it doesn't matter regardless of what it is, male Viera - Hrothgar, etc. I expect to know what I'm buying - or at least what the 'minimum' is to be expected in regards to a playable race. This point has been brought up before. There are things they keep hidden until they release every expansion. Like we still don't know if Dancer is coming, or what the raid is or ultimates or job changes etc. For anyone who preordered for the bonuses only, that's on them.

I'm sorry, but no. Not everyone who wants a Ronso-like race is a furry. That's beyond asinine. If anything, I think Furries would rather look cute? I imagine anyone hopeful for Ronso would be for nostalgia sake or because they want a more masculine, beastly race. And the even more ridiculous points were that it'd be somehow illegal to make a race like Ronso in the game because maybe some countries don't allow Furries or something? What? I honestly think it won't be all that Ronso like considering the leaks have all said NOT Ronso, which makes these furry points even more out there.

Edit: Keep in mind we also have no idea what male Viera would look like if they existed, they could be the furriest of them all.

My statement, again was in reply to someone saying a more bestial race was again, more desirable than something akin to male-viera a lot of the people(from personal experience of course) that I have seen who have desired a BEASTIAL race(I was just using ronso as an example of the aesthetic) were mostly furries or people who were dissatisfied with the lack of fur from races like miqo'te, again I could be like you've said but I still think it's a very niche portion of the community.

Just lumping my responses into one post and too lazy to quote each one. Someone in the previous page posted about legality. and I'm trying to say that your points are ridiculous. That's all. You're saying most people who want Ronso are furries, and that's just not true lol. I think both bunny men believers and people who want a lion race would be niche in this game, since most people play female toons anyway.

The people who play female toons only do so because they lack a real thin "feminine" male counterpart to do so from what I know from first hand experience, male miqo'te being too "stout" for what some want to accomplish, and again there's a difference between a "lion" race and a "ronso" race. The simple fact is that if races like ronso, beastial races were highly desirably they would have been released already, even the people who complain about au ra looking the way they do are relatively niche as au ra is one of the more popular races played, while hulking beastial races like Ronso would probably have a play count similar to Roe's which is just not very much.

If Male viera looked like roe or ronso, then yes it would be just as niche, but the preconceived notion people have it being a beautiful muscular "ikemen" similar to au ra but with more aesthetically pleasing features, inherently makes it more desirably than a full on BEASTIAL RACE. Is what I was getting at and what i can easily back up with the only close iteration we have of a full on beastial race, Roe.

BTW I'm not even saying male viera are gonna be in, or that we won't for sure get a beastial race, just that based on statistics everyone is not jumping out of their seats waiting to play a big hulking lion headed man.
