Didn't stop them from banning 550 players over the Salvage/Assault exploit in FFXI.

The thing with NMs in FFXI was that eventually NM drops were changed because of the camping due to the fact they were sellable. A source of gil for farmers none the least. The changes made it so drops did become available to everyone who could claim the mob and kill it. You still had to compete for claims with rivals but was still better than them being overcamped.

Whats occurring with elites is these hunt ls's seem to feel entitled to every spawn including the weekly. They wont tell you if it's up where it is or even invite you so you can get full credit. On Behemoth it is apparently a big secret now. They don't give a damn someone like me still needs the weekly credit. So is it alright for them to screw players like me over' to deny me my right to 20+ seals? Yea they sure show courtesy and are not selfish.

I understand that a lot of the 'griefing' that is really happening is the abusive and foul name-calling (on both sides btw). I was directly responding to the person's situation I quoted. The /sh/t/s abusive language that is also happening is of course, also harassment and punishable, but it's a different thing that what the poster I was responding to was implying. If people think that they can report anyone who pulls 'early' simply for pulling and that person will be somehow punished, they are wrong. But yes, if that same person turns around and starts taunting them/harassing them or being unpleasant (assuming they weren't provoked into it) then yes, they can get in trouble as they are harassing people. But if a GM takes actions against them, it was never for 'early pulling', it was for the namecalling and nastyness that they said after it.

And you can still play with your friend every night now. What were you doing every night anyway in FFXI that you considered raiding to begin with, seeing as to how Dynamis and Limbus were both at 3 days lockout each at release and for quite awhile after ?

Using hyperbole won't do you any good. It takes 10 weeks to get a full gear set of soldiery, weapon excluded. Also, you are throwing myths on alts when you don't even have a Novus yet so I am inclined to believe that you are either ignoring content unwillingly or are just ignoring it because you don't want to do it but again, this refer to my previous statement: There is a difference between content that you don't want to do and content that exists.

You can easily pace yourself at a decent speed and play with your friend everyday, just not rushing and getting everything done in less than two weeks. With hunts, that allows me to play and gear up as much I want,I'm playing more.

Hunts are still broken and I'm surprised that SE doesn't see it. The JP side must not be complaining at all. Is there anyone who reads that forum that can confirm their take on the matter? I tried to run it through Google translate but spent more time laughing than seriously parsing what they were saying.

JP side has no problem with hunts because they know their place. If they miss a mark (i.e, the finder pulled when he thought enough people were here), they don't rage, they go search the next mark.

Which is to fight the B's or A's as your Full Party without calling out the mobs existence for the zerg, correct? I'm honestly thinking of just announcing an A mob has spawned (if I find it first), but "accidentally" forget to add the location. I'll most likely get hated for it, but meh. If that's how it's intended, then no one should complain. I will report people resetting the mob, though :P

You don't even need a party for a B. The only change they made was give them more HP, they're very easily soloable, just takes a bit longer than before.

And the thing about pop items, is it turns it from open world content to something that's not. And the problem with true open world content, is if the rewards are too good, you will run into the issue we have now.

JP people are just way more respectful than westerners. Thus no hate/flame war in JP servers because of hunts. Thus no problem due to the horde.


On a side note, EU/NA think the hunt is a problem because they ripped it off so much it lost all its meaning. NA/EU hunt is totally botched by players' attitude, not by the system itself

Oh, you know what I mean~ I found it, my kill and all that jazz~

Well I'm mostly focusing on that if the mobs were pop item required, then the marks can be as difficult as dungeon/raid bosses and innocent bystanders won't have to worry about the potential one hit KO skills. As for the rewards, Oils, Sands and UAT's will no longer be able to be bought and instead become a potential loot item upon the mobs death (rare drop from B's and A's. High drop from S's though, since getting their pop item could be tricky).

On my server at least we have the zerg rush, but if there is any negativity I couldn't tell. There is an 83-pager on hunts over there if someone wants to take a look.... Google Translate on the last few pages turned up

We need to keep the call outs to your immediate FC/friends. Stop saying it in 100+ member LS', stop putting it into /sh. Actually, it's Yoshi P and the devs that care about selling runs. It was in a dev post as basically their very specific reason as to why the current installment of BC progression is locked to your character each week. That while they understand this puts some groups at odds with eachother (being able to assist friends in your FC after you and your static get your clear), the reality is that they feel the best raid gear, from the current hardest raid content should be earned and not handed. They just feel that having well-geared, and experienced people 'carry' through their FC is not the intended method. They also felt that there should be some content in game that is for a dedicated 8-man team. Nor do they wish to promote 'sells'. They did however say, they would continue to monitor the progress of different players and the situation. Still, you do in fact have another source of content, that you can do with your friends as often as you like to help them progress. ST=ilvl100 gear. And Binding Coil 1= ilvl 90 gear and 95 weapons. There's also EX primals with ilvl 90+ drops. The ONLY content that is subject to character weekly character lockout, is BC 2. Everything else you are free to do as often as you please. Sure, Sold tomes cap as well...but you weren't grinding coil for tomes, so you were capping those other ways anyway.


Furthermore, the 'content worth doing' thing: Did you enjoy BC1...or did you enjoy the gear. Because it's still there, and now completely spammable. So is everything else minus ONE thing Binding Coil 2. And when 2.4 comes out, BC2 doesn't lose it's' fun' it looses its weekly lockouts and being BiS drops. EX primals are also a challenge, and content you can enter as often as you please with anyone you please. So based on your lack of interest in ANY other content aside from BC2, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Gear>content in your mind. This game is full of content...it might not be full of content you enjoy, or find worthy of your time, but it's not lacking for content. Maybe, maybe if you're finding 'gee, there's only ever one thing in this game I like doing' maybe this isn't the game for you. Maybe your time would be better spend doing other things/playing games more your style.

While it is true, you can level your first job and it's subclasses, experience the storylines, and grind the gear to enter coil in probably 2-3 weeks...most people don't do that. It takes them far longer. Furthemore, once again, they could do this, but you're leaving out a lot of side progression in this '2 week plan'....content that you might not enjoy, but others might take a keen interest in. Still, those same friends that for whatever reason can't find other people in an MMO to play with to challenge BC2 if they are really interested in doing it, will be able to enter as many times as they like, with you come 2.4. As you like to point out, by then, you could probably farm them everything they need to progress to BC 3 in what? 1-2 weeks? (which btw, is also why there's a lock....no one NEEDS BC2 gears yet.....you only need it when doing BC3, which hasn't been released yet You, and your friends can do everything else in this game fully geared in i90-Sold items.).

It is absolutely fine that you enjoy content like BC the most. It's fine you wish there was more of it (and hopefully, there WILL be more of it in up-coming patches...like more than one new hardcore content released at the same time). But to stand there and say 'this is a game of lockouts I can't play with my friends!' is most assuredly wrong. You can't go back and do ONE thing in game with your non-static friends each week. But changing lockouts, or allowing gear to be farmed the moment it goes live, doesn't solve your issue. You're complaining that it's a 'log in Monday' game as it stands now....they do things your way you're right, it won't be a 'log in Monday' game...it'll be a 'log in for 2-3 weeks after the new patch game' ....and then who will your friends play with? (It won't be you, you won't even be logging in)

Oh I remember, I was around when it happened on xi.

Those circumstances, and these circumstances have only superficial similarities at best, and this game is approached with a far easier attitude.

Those were very difficult drops to come buy versus seals galore for everyone who wants them, there isn't much ultra rare uber gear in this game, they pass gear out like candy.

I certainly don't have anything against you salem trial folks wanting to see people hang over this, and if they do for abusing mechanics they have no reason to cry about it.

Salvage/Assault and this are very different shades of gray.

When those bans happened the MMO scene in town was a very different flavor than todays cutthroat market of f2p mmos galore, they will save the corporate cash before saving moral face, count on it.

If it makes you or anyone else chuckle with glee over the prospect of folks getting permabanned for this be my guest, it will not have fixed the core problems with hunts, and it wont help the game.
