Thanks, I see now. I was focusing more on maximizing clean shots and less on what I could fit in the wildfire.

One thing to take in mind is that a cleaner shot without ammo is the same potency as a enchanted slug shot with ammo. As far as choosing one over the other for fitting into wildfire, they're both the same potency. So other factors such as buffs and debuffs need to be considered.
Clean shot procs should never be an issue.
After casting a slug shot you can just do a split shot when you're seeing the clean shot procs too late. Your clean shot proc has to be used within 10 seconds, not immediately.
You should be concerned more about split shot proccing slug shot. Here you're risking not consuming the slug shot proc when you should have. The animation of split shot is a bit shorter than slug shot, so that helps a little. For me the proc would appear when my GCD is is little under halfway. (@50ish ms) So in general that is fine.
That is without gaus barel like at your level. At 52 you'll learn and use gauss barel most of the time, so your split shot has a 1,5second cast time. The time to react on a proc is very short there. I would guess around 0.7 second (rough guess) for me.
Just wondering since just started to play this job.. Why was no dismantle included for the opening?
Mistake or not, it brings an interesting question. Couldn't that be the original design of the sklils? As it would make kinda sense in comparison to Foe Requiem.
Based on the percentage it might have even done both things - decreasing damage done by 5% and increasing damage received by 5%. Blasted, I would love such a change...
Depends on what you mean by that, and even then we don't need to homogenize the two jobs even more than they already are. Hypercharge has the capability to increase physical damage taken, something that BRD doesn't have, as well as the option to do a weaker variation of foe's. Dismantle/Rend works as a psuedo virus for 5% to reduce damage taken.
I view it as MCH having many options for how they approach a situation.
Like BRD, they have the MP or TP option (or neither when not needed) which is typical of the support style role in XIV.
MCH also have:
Stun or Silence
Heavy or Bind
Reduce physical damage or reduce magical damage
Increase physical damage or increase magical damage
Bard, however, doesn't have that kind of play. It gets only gets one choice: Silence - no Stun, Bind - no Heavy, increase magical damage - no physical alternative. They don't get any option for reducing damage.
It's the adaptability of a MCH over a BRD that I find more interesting and appealing, even if only one of those two options can be used at a time. Whilst the effects might not be strong on their own, as a package it's pretty reasonable and balanced.
Half of those things don't work in a raid/dungeon/diadem setting though, and the other half works on such a small value it doesn't necessarily amount to an edge over BRD (and if it does, then that becomes another problem). It's different, but that's about it when it comes to comparing to the two, how they play and what they provide. It falls back to me preferring that they had homogenized their role and what they can do for the party, not how they play or how they do the former.
Guys this is one of my cleanest shots (:D) at Thordan Ex, and I would like to receive some tips from all of you, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!
Not to open the can of worms with GB toggling being a dps increase or not when oGCDs aren't active, from what I see you aren't leaving it off long to get in any auto attacks at times, on top of playing on a controller/legacy camera, there would be times that you aren't facing the boss for auto attacks and losing out on the 30% boost on your weaponskills. Assuming it's a really small gain, it's relatively high risk if you're not able to squeeze in those auto attacks because you don't leave it on for long enough.
I also noticed that you're double tapping oGCDs without instant casts or during rapid fire. It can delay your weaponskill usage and depending on yur SS, can mean the difference of getting the 8th weaponskill for wildfire.
im not sure this was discussed earlier but ,,,, sigh, Heavensfire and i210 guns (eso and gordian), they all have the same physical damage value at 68 :/
Heavensfire vs Ferdinand:
Ferdinand = WD68, 71crit, 102 ss :x
Heavensfire = WD68, 68cit, 93det
if you are unlucky with A4 drops i would stick with the Thordan gun and give the Gobdip to someone else who might benefit from it more. ; ;
Can I get away with playing without Gauss Barrel? How much would my DPS loss be? I really don't like the cast timer and it has turned me completely off the class.
All other things aside, Ricochet and Gauss Round both require Gauss Barrel to be on to be used at all, so I imagine it would be pretty massive.
If you want to do savage raid with gauss barrel off i think it will be near impossible to make the neccesary dps. But i would recommende you to just learn the class and its rotation, because once you finally get to the understanding of the class its such a satisfying feeling playing the class.
So how are you guys passing the time till 3.2?
It occurs to me that since our eso helm/chest/leg pieces are generally superior to their gordian counterparts, and welfare gobtwines are raining from the sky now, it's frighteningly easy to finish up our best in slot gearset without even stepping into A3S and A4S at all. There is the i210 weapon and the mount of course, but we also have Thordan EX taking you halfway there and anima weapons in less than a month.
Not even getting into the thorny issue of Diadem being able to drop items superior to raid i210s. The reward curve just seems a little out of whack this tier, for MCH at least, the difficulty you go through to put A3S and A4S on farm feels completely disproportionate to the reward.
Just waiting patiently till relic is released.
In terms of gun glamour, it's been rather dull lately. Furthermore, we have that ugly looking Gauss Barrel. At this point, looking ugly is easier/more satisfying than looking good.
I really wish we could use parsers or something in game to tell how much dps i'm doing (I'm on ps4). I've been working on lining up my buffs and what not after the opener, but its hard for me to actively improve when I can't tell if my damage is solid enough. I want to get into a1s next week once I get my eso chest piece and have the timing in my sleep. I'm currently ilvl 190.
This may be somewhat unrealistic to ask, but whats a good parse for ilvl 190 on a static target? Ignoring party buffs and what not. And what are the expected numbers for a1s from your experience? I'm pretty hard on myself and don't want to be carried when I attempt it.
So I changed my cross hotbar a bit to make it easier to use the opener in the google doc. I'm noticing i'm consistently doing 6011 damage with wildfire on the test dummy while at ilvl 203. That seems kind of low but I'm going through the doc's opener. Am I maybe being a little to slow with pressing things since I'm just getting used to it?
6011 is definitely too low for 203. I think it might be on par or below i180, iirc. Nobody can tell what's wrong unless you describe it (not having all GCDs in the WF, not double weaving, which could be a ping issue, wrong order)
Or your parser could be wonky. Like I said, no one will be able to tell without more info.
I think my biggest problem is that since I changed my cross hotbar to make it more streamlined, I've been slower with activating my skills. I'll probably spend more time practicing because I am doing everything according to the document. I do more damage on a mob then on the test dummy because of other buffs going on but I think the problem is I'm too slow so I'm not getting enough skills into my WF.
Its more about making sure you get everything in on time mixed with RNG crits. If crits don't completely suck, you should be hitting 7500+ easily on a dummy with no party or buffs. If you miss just one ability or think too long, you are going to miss that last GCD and you will get results similar to what you are right now.
alright I finally did a1 savage for the first time and on faust with 192 gear I pulled 1.1k. We wiped on the oppressors so we didn't finish, but I think the furthest we got was the 2nd jump and I parsed for 1k (we had an astro who gave A LOT of balances lol). My hot shot/lead application when adds arrive need work and maybe some timing issues, but I can work on that the more we run.
edit: already have question answered.
Hi there!
This guide really helped me getting started. I am currently raiding AS2 and having some difficulties adjusting to the fight in terms of TP Management and cooldown usage. Since AoE drains my TP relatively quickly - How do you handle the first couple of waves properly?
Also my Wildfire is kind of low. It hits training dummies with 6500 to 7100 at ilvl 203. I'm not using potions or food on those tries, but still it's way below what I should be doing. Besides skipping the potion part, I use the exact opening from the google doc. without any problems, triggering skills and abilities as soon as they will let me. Wildfire triggers 1-2 seconds after my third Slug Shot(my skill speed is 557 right now, in case that is helpfull ^_^). Is this how it is supposed to be? Because I'm inclined to blame my internet connection for not letting me activate skills fast enough. I really am triggering them as fast as the game will let me. Also I do have a terrible over abundance in Accuracy(661) that adds to the issue too, I guess. My question would be - when is Wildfire supposed to go off? Should it last longer than my third Slug Shot?
Another problem I found myself in is the Wildfire following the first one. What Skills should I keep before casting it? Following the guide I use Reload when ready, so until now I also never held back the other two 60 second cooldowns(Reassemble, Ricochet) either. When my second Wildfire is ready, I'm stuck with all the other 90 second Cooldowns, which makes it kind of... underwhelming and reliant on luck since I'm not guaranteeing any skillproccs. Is this the way to go, because on Wildfire 3 everything will be in line again(I keep my Hypercharge for it too)?
In general, unless the whole wave is dying in 10 seconds or something (like wave 3 for instance, where most major cooldowns get popped for the first time), you should focus on putting Lead Shot up on everything - and then refreshing it as needed. If the wave is going to be up for some time, best to get Lead Shot rolling first before spamming AoEs as it's a more efficient use of TP.
You want to play TP management in A2S by ear, since you're partly dependent on how much DPS your whole raid is putting out. If the wave is going to take a long time, then take it slow and focus on cycling Lead Shot first. If it's going quickly then you can hit the gas a bit more.
For cooldowns, off the top of my head..
Wave 3 is generally the best time to pop everything. It's the first big wave, Wave 1 and 2 are not worth worrying about since they're extremely easy
Wave 5 (2 big spiders) you'll have cooldowns up again (minus Raging Strikes)
Wave 7 (4 Jagd dolls) you have another big cooldown window with everything up, great time to DoT all 4 dolls with cooldown boosted Lead Shots
Wave 9, final use of cooldowns
yes. Your second wildfire is going to feel way more underwhelming compared to the first. If your timings are right then you should have rapid fire/quick reload up mainly and go from there.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFA1zzbwSwc. In case you have further questions of timings and what should go where. Someone already made a vivid guide to "what cd's should be up and the timings" in the earlier pages if you are curious.
Your other wildfire question sadly I can't answer :/. Sorry. Someone asked a page back from this if you haven't checked. Unless you can somehow gives us video footage (or go into vivid detail) it will be hard to answer that question besides what was already mentioned in the previous page.
Hot Shot - Potion
Lead Shot - Reload
Split Shot - Wild Fire
Slug Shot - Quick Reload + Reassemble
Clean Shot - Rapid Fire + Ricochet
Split Shot - Gauss Round
Slug Shot - Head Graze
Split Shot - Blank
Clean Shot
Split Shot … -> my Wildfire goes off here, 1-2 seconds afterwards
My question was, if this is normal or if Wildfire is supposed to last one shot longer. Because I asumed connection issues might sabotage my Wildfire a bit by not allowing me that last skill, rendering the damage lower than it should be. On the video posted, it looks like it could be the case, but it's difficult for me to really tell =/.
Another reason for my Wildfire doing lower damage could be my stat distribution, since I'm running around with gear that has way more accuracy then I need for AS1 and AS2.
I did notice how ElasmoFan had similar issues, however he claimed that it could be related to changes he made to his skill bars or due to activation speed. That is definitely not the case with me. I can already do the entire rotation blindly, and could not go any quicker because the game won't let me. This is why I wished to know if everything is ok with with my Wildfire triggering where I marked it above.
@Myon88: That helped me quite a lot. Thanks, that's just what I was looking for! ^_^
So i was wondering, did anyone have anythough on Armageddon? I'm a bit a noob when it comes to stuffs building, so i can't figure out if the Gordian (CRIT 102 DET 68) is better than the Armageddon (DET 97, SS 102)
The Gordian gun is much better than the Armageddon. The amount you get out of the Crit/Det combination heavily outweighs what you get out of the Anima gun.
Actually I just did the math, even Heavensfire is better than the Anima weapon. Basically goes Gordian > Heavensfire > Anima > Ferdinand(upgrade).
Only reason I am doing gun for the relic quest is because they will likely let you customize stats in the future.
I can't even say I'm in it for the custom stats (as I can only dread what that might entail this time). I'm only doing it BECAUSE I skipped the original, thus have to start from square one here.
To be honest, I don't like the way the Armageddon looks at all, and I'm all but completely decided on skipping any and all future relics for the rest of however long I play this game.
It is entirely optional. I would only suggest doing it if you are someone who has to have the absolute BiS gear, assuming the new anima weapons let you customize stats in the future. MCH wise, the gun is inferior to Heavensfire from Thordan, which is much easier to obtain. The grind for these quests are so tedious and not fun and I can't recommend it to anyone unless they need that BiS.
