That's how most the of people look like defending this particular QTE, how can't you see it.
People want engaging fights. People want to succeed. People want teamwork. What they don't want is a mechanic which punishes them for no damn reason.

That's what this about. We want to make sure all the effort we put in to succeed makes us succeed, because you can be sure we are trying really hard to succeed, but we get punished for having a disability. There isn't a significant issue of people queueing this (or most things) and then just afking, other than for PVP, which practically encourages it due to its "rewarded win or lose" nature. Nothing like this was needed to try to "make sure" people aren't afking, and even then, what makes you think it's right to punish an entire group just because one person is?

I'd like to know what your defense is regarding the people who are trying to pass this QTE (and therefore, are not afking) and yet they still don't pass it, and the group wipes anyway. Kinda indicates to me that this mechanic is not necessarily doing a good job of weeding out the afkers (like you seem convinced is what it's for), just weeding out the people that for whatever reason can't spam button presses fast enough, and also weeding out anyone who is unfortunate enough to be partied with them, since they end up failing for no reason too.

Also have no clue what a QCF is supposed to be.

Sorry, but I don't know that. I've never played Street Fighter. I didn't start gaming properly until Baldur's Gate and then it was only a few games. Like Dragon Age, World of Warcraft, LOTRO, SWTOR.

A sequence to follow might be nicer if it doesn't go too fast.

That's another issue. Because of chronic fatigue my response times are slower. So if you don't mind the bar doesn't lower as fast as it does now, then I wouldn't mind to follow a sequence of buttons. I can memorise a button sequence no problem.

I also ask this question. Prior to the release of patch 5.3, the entire group would not wipe if someone did not have time to press the button. Never. Now the developers for some reason decided that pushing people against each other due to failure is fun and cool. I imagine how many people who for some reason cannot do this, and just trolls who wipe the group for fun, I will meet on this trial, if they do not change it.

In a game that focusses on teamwork and getting through challenges together the worst thing to do is to pit players against each other (unless it's pvp). Already people who cannot pass the QTE are being verbally abused and kicked out of parties because the party keeps wiping due to the person's physical limitation and inability to pass the QTE. It only leads to harassment and people being excluded from what is essentially a required part to continue the story, which everyone needs to pass. And as RajNish says, there's the trolls who do it on purpose.

But we are not talking about trolls. We are talking about the first group of people, the people who cannot pass the QTE because of physical and mental limitations who vary in each person.

To answer the question: The only thing that would change would probably be hardcore players' feelings of accomplishment.

Thats the fun part, as far as ive seen you cant tell who failed it? i mean, god dam they gotta play a few months on NA/EU servers.... i dont wanna know how many ppl will troll once its old and they get bored >_>

Also all those QTE are gettin old, i do like em, but id prefer a certain order within a time limit or smt at least less spamy lol

...i mean, im using the shoulder buttons on my controller as it stresses them the least, i already killed most my bottons once and replaced the silicone pads, but all those QTE really hurt after time (at least if you get it for trials a while and farm the ex about 100+ times, plus whatever amount of wipes you get...)


Overall im not a fan of "oh one guy messed up, so you all die" stuff - imo, debuff us per failure so we can carry 1-2 or just kill them, but dont punish us in normal/extreme stuff like that, please.

The faster you spam, the harder it is as the bar gets higher.

Whereas at the lower end it's very easy.

I managed to keep the bar full by putting ten fingers on ten different keys and slamming my keyboard like beethoven on crack

But that's the entire point I'm making. My hands hurt like crazy if I keep having to slam my keyboard like crazy. Plus I'm on a laptop, I'd rather not break it. And it's not as easy as you make it sound, because otherwise people wouldn't have a problem with it. Please don't devalue the way we experience it.

And what would it hurt other players if they made it a bit easier? Or if they made it like other QTE ones where only you die? I am not disabled yet I still found it hard to do. My fingers still did hurt afterwards. And its not even like its a hard or awesome mechanic..(and on top of that I missed some of the scenes itself because I was so concentrated on beating it)

People are not asking for a win button. They are not asking for a click and the fight to be done. They just want one portion of it which is way over the top to be toned down. Or are you having fun with QTEs? Are they the most awesome mechanics ever? Would you still love it if you have group after group where just one single person can hold the party back? The video clearly shows that you can very slowly tap it with one finger, you probably press the keyboard more times in a regular boss encounter than this 'QTE'.

I watched the video. I tried it like that before and I failed. I usually do it like that and it usually works. That's how I managed to beat all the other QTEs before. But when I do it like that in the current one I fail. I don't know if it's lag or not, but I fail. And I don't feel like arguing about it. Why can't you just accept my word for it?

Because I am officially a volunteer, and if people have tendon or muscle fiber injuries, they can play normally, but not press buttons at high speed for a few seconds, which simply leads to pain or numbness, and since they did not experience such difficulties 7 years, why should they give up everything for one mechanic for the stupid ones who enjoy jumping around the keyboard in the name of spam buttons.

I love when people compare the button smashing to Metal Gear Solid but forget about the fact that there was the option to just "give up" and NOT do it.

I agree, this isn't a Quick Time Event. It's just plain button mashing for the sake of button mashing. True QTE have press a certain button or action at the right time in a cinematic event

FFIX
FFVII Remake
Marvel's Spider-Man
God of War Bedroom Scene

If it's a problem for players who are disabled, arthritic, etc. then change it or remove it.

How ridiculously easy is this game where the community is arguing that a BUTTON MASHING segment needs to stay on as some kind of skill gate for the story? I mean seriously, why try to draw a 'git gud' line here? Is this really meaningful, significant gameplay for some of you? Is the game de-legitimized if players don't have to prove themselves in the button-mash arena to progress?

Slowly mashing something sounds a bit strange to my (non native) ears. Also you cant just do it slow. I watched Ethys stream and he went in slow (probably thought it was like the other ones) and died because of that. It was also the point where I saw that the whole party wipes for this one mistake. And seemingly you cant even tell who failed?

Also please dont assume its the same for everyone. For some it could be a problem and they have the right to talk about it. The only change needed is either to not make it wipe the whole group or to truly slow it down. I am really not sure why they felt the need to change it up to the usual QTE..

Wonder how many people would still be fine with it if they land in a couple of groups where one person is using this to troll..or maybe there is a time of bad lag.

Time and time again people said "that don't work, my hands hurt", but everytime there's someone going "you just ain't doing it right", "you just not trying enough", "you're just lazy". Considering it takes a fair amount of button mashing...I don't buy that you do it "slow". It doesn't allow for slow button mashing. It might not be physically painful for me, but I can certainly see how it can be for others. I have heard, however, that spinning the left or right joystick might do the job so I may try that next time I get that for my trial roulette. That might be worlds easier for controller users.

You do not need to mash the buttons. Any key input works, including multiple at once. You simply place both hands down on the keyboard and run them slowly from side to side (take care not to hit Return and enter chat, just over the letter keys is fine). Have tested it several times, it's strain friendly, works fine and you don't even come close to failing.

I'm not disagreeing the QTE could do with looking at, but until we get a fix this is the best we have.

That's a good suggestion. I'd imagine it is way less strenuous for those who have certain limitations for their hands as well.

Cool. I also have cleared it each time. That's not the point people are bringing up. They are saying that if for some reason one person can't, everyone gets punished, or they even get punished if they CAN do it if someone lags.

To be frank i didn't think much about the accessibility issue of these qte.

What really annoys me about them is just how much they end up breaking the entire mood of the fight with a cutscene, sound prompt and text prompt, without really adding anything interesting to the encounter. Especially not when the exact same thing have now been done multiple times. If they want to add some flashy intermissions to a fight, then just add it without slapping on an obnoxious feature that will one shot everyone...

only to be followed by yet another.

I would have much preferred if these things were incorporated better into the fights than with interruptions. Like fight goes on, everyone gets moved to their spot and their cast bar gets replaced by a "vehicle" bar with whatever ability they are suppose to spam, or have the duty action pop up. No over the top text prompt unless the fight is a whacky one like most of the alex fights.
