I wasn't stating that an SSD would allow you to load that much faster than an HDD to where the fight has begun while you're still in cutscenes. But it does load quickly.

Personally, if they start trying to add punishments for every little thing in game, people will either stop running certain content or just stop playing entirely. This particular issue isn't something I really care about one way or the other, as I don't use the exploit. I sit and play Animal Crossing or BOTW while waiting out cutscenes.

It shouldn't be too much of a stretch for Square to implement the dungeon start cutscene lock or the newer dialog lock they've employed for the newer solo instances.

Short answer is that skipping cutscenes will cut the cutscenes for the newbies, potentially even skipping some. It's part of the reason the restriction was set in the first place. The second point is that it means the newcomers trying to enjoy the story don't get to participate in the fights (as short as they may be).
They adjusted the rewards for the extra time spent, if you don't want to deal with the cutscenes you can just skip the roulette altogether (just like you and many do)
If your point is "screw the newbies they'll live" then yeah, sure why report these people, no point. If you aren't a selfish jerk though, then skipping is clearly an issue.

PS: I hate the MSQ because of the forced cutscenes, I almost never run them as a result.

Tbh, i didnt see any newcomer complaint about this, especially in here, most of time just some SJW doing their work

I dont waste my time to do that skip trick, but if anyone do it in my run, they are very welcome, that mean i have more time for netflix

If I'm running a MSQ dungeon, it's always to level a class, so I'd be too weak anyway.

Maybe instead of punishment we fix the root of the problem. Why not give an option for players to choose what dungeon they want to run. The the one you can skip or not skip the story. If people so care to run with the story on can do so.

Perhaps we should segregate the people based on skipping the story or not. People who defend not skipping the story should have it on at all times or only play on the non skippable version of the dungeon. Likewise the people who want to skip the story can have the option to skip.

The people who defend not skipping the story shouldn’t have a problem not skipping the story when the devs give us the option to skip.
Then again they will skip it when the option will come back.

I'd be fine with this if they attributed the rewards appropriately. The skip version gives as much as a trial roulette, like it used to be. The no-skip version gives the full rewards they increased in order to get people to do the roulette in the first place. Or again we could just make these solo instances and solve the issue entirely.

If you see someone skipping and it bothers you so much, just kick them? Its not rocket science.

IMO what SE should do is have them turn into a solo instances for new players then when you want to run them again, they switch back into the old dungeons where you can now skip the cutscenes. its a win-win for both sides. newbies get to experience the story and fights, Vets get to breeze through the dungeons.

If they turn these 2 dungeon into solo instance then pretty much that msq roulette doesnt have any reason to exist anymore

-500-600 poetics, useful for relics
-large amount of exp, useful for leveling
-Moogle trove resource
-another way to get capped tomestones for people who don't want to do the coin flip dungeons.
-for the small amount of people who care, TT cards


Personally roulette is fine, it's just the people who enter that can be the problem.

Clearly it bothers some players or SE wouldn't have resorted to making the cutscenes in those 2 dungeons unskippable.

Just about every fight at lower levels is a joke to players who have done those fights over and over. That doesn't mean that new players should be denied the chance to experience some form of those fights even if it's not the same experience you would get at minimum ilvl. The dungeons exist for progressing the MSQ story, not for grinding XP and poetics.

If you want to skip the cutscenes, don't queue for Castrum or Praetorium. Don't queue for MSQ roulette. There, you've completely avoided the cutscenes so you can spend that time doing other things you want to be doing.

The point was to find out if the Devs brought back the option to skip the cutscenes would the playerS who defend not skipping the cutscenes jump ship and start skipping again? They defend it so well but will not watch the cutscenes once the option to skip them comes back.

can we stop pretending theres newbies left and right in these roulettes? i guarantee you not even 50% of them have new player bonus

also if the only issue of skipping is new players, why get mad when people skip it when theres no new players anyway

I see the new player bonus at least three out of five times I run the roulette. We can throw anecdotal stats at each other all day, but none of us actually has real evidence.

On a personal note, it did matter to me at least that I didn't get to be a part of the fights. I ran the dungeon before the forced cutscenes were a thing and I was pretty disheartened when before I could even finish the first scene half the dungeon was dead, I was really getting into the story at the time and that damn near ruined it for me, I just started skipping too so I could actually play the game, but eventually got so annoyed and disheartened I just followed the group and did nothing, got a few people angry but I just didn't care.
If they didn't care about my experience of the dungeon, why would I care about theirs? I was with a friend as well and we both sorta agreed to just let them do as they pleased.

What makes it worse is that horrible grind to HW right after those dungeons, it was like a double gut punch.

The roulette is painfully obviously intended to be played in a way to benefit the new players doing it first and the people who just want EXP and tomes second, I really do hope SE strongly enforces the spirit of the roulette and comes down hard on people skipping cutscenes, I'd even be down for them to lock players out of the bosses till all players are out of cutscenes.
In a perfect world though the dungeon is filled with NPC partners so a player can solo it as they please to really enjoy the story at their own pace rather than rolling the dice with disruptive players.

Oh, Hildibrand. The final trial of the ARR series. I got locked out of the fight because I watched the prefight cutscene and there was no teleport to the arena button. So yeah, missing that stuff sucks.

And again to remind people who don't care about new players; the fight might be easy for you, you might have seen it hundreds of times, you might have done savage or extremes. But none of the new players know better,they don't know how easy it actually is, most are still learning the game and their job. I'm not saying the fights are hard, no they are easy and fast, but new players wont know that. They just want to experience the story and be part of the duty. So why is it so hard to let the new player have their first time there to be normal no skipping? Even if it's just one single new player, they still have their right to have full experience.

Personally I skip cut scenes each time I run MSQ for the daily bonus and sure I get a few people who complain but more often I get people that join and we blaze through it.

I am starting to think those bothered by it are simply complaining for the sake or complaining.

This is the reason ill post in chat during those fight.. something like "We have a new player, please allow them to view cutscene " and then I'll sit down outside tge boss door to wait.. it generally gets people to wait as I'm a tank main.. but there's some who just wont.. and I'm sorry for the new players who must miss fights or cutscenes.

Back when I was new I missed Castrum and Prea due to there being no forced cutscenes.. the same with Binding Coil.. never gotten to fight Twintainia yet..

Well tell me, if people start skipping the cutscenes and obviously there is no point in me being in the dungeon and especially no point in joining the boss fight, why do i get kicked if i tell them i'm taking a break? After all there is no point in joining the boss if it has 20-30% health left. I could spend that time doing what everyone else is doing in them anyway which is watching videos, reading a book or playing another game or something. I really want to know so please, tell me. If you just want to hurry through it, then it shouldn't matter at all. A few seconds less is not much after all.

You know honestly I think that's a pretty good argument to make them solo instances if anything... because those fights are so stupid faceroll easy that I'd be questioning what kinda content to expect going forward.

Frankly those dungeons are so godawful horribly designed that if I didn't know SE never did anything so, to be blunt, flat out stupid again, I might not have even bothered to buy Heavensward. Because I was in the middle of Castrum when I decided to, and it was definitely not because of that trash heap of a dungeon.

And I mean to be clear, I was one of those newbies who got left behind, and ended up skipping half the cutscenes because the group kept running off ahead, and I spent most of Prae running around legitimately lost because I had no idea where anyone went and didn't know how to find them on the map. It was awful. It was stupid. I'm glad it's mostly fixed.

At any rate, a handful of people skipping cutscenes isn't even close to as bad as how it used to be, and I mean personally I haven't even seen someone skip in weeks. It's already reportable even though I sure wouldn't bother to, so I don't think any changes are needed... unless they do in fact turn them into solo/trust dungeons. Frankly I'd be sad to see the exp go, but glad to see a better new player experience and an end to this endless debate.

I'm not against the idea of solo instance at all, I think it would be amazing fix to it; being so the player can themselves to skip the cut scenes or not since it only affects them and their speed. But until they do change it, people who hate the cut scenes just have to suffer through them or not join at all. No reason to ruin the game for your own entitled ass, and before you call me SJW again, yes it does ruin it for a new player :) Call me what you want, but if you skip and make the cut scenes play right after each other or even make the new player miss one is ruining it. Also as many users here have stated, they got left behind, didn't get to fight the oh so easy and fast fight, it felt bad. You can't take away the fact that people feel bad from being left behind and lost.

I do not recall complaining just saying that there is a difference between sitting around afk, or just standing around out of spite for those that skip verse watching cut scenes. I have no beef either way if someone wants to netflix and tab out, but I can see where people might draw the line.

Cannot speak for others but I wish to speed content along since I just want my daily reward and that is all. I like to play my video games not watch them. Thankfully I rarely run into people that get all upset about skipping and often run into people that did not even know they could do it. Either way I do not heal or tank content to help others I just enjoy the role and will perform it to best of my ability, I do not really care about much of anything else. If it turns out a run is too slow or do not feel like waiting around I will leave no skin off my back. It is not the end of the world.

They should just make a solo instance and be done with it.

I'd go back to skipping the scenes rather than being locked in them and clicking through the dialogue, yes... but I'd also go back to:

• waiting (and/or asking the rest of the party to wait) if there was someone still in the cutscene - sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't

• shepherding the poor lost newbie through the dungeon if everyone else left them behind

• spending the cutscene time sorting my inventory

• getting a fast run if everyone else skipped too

It was - should have been - a roulette of your time. Will you get a fast group of veterans, or do you need to wait?

If "not even 50%" of runs are a full party of veterans then even if you wait whenever someone is watching the scenes, then you'd only have to wait on less than 50% of runs too.

If it only happened on veteran runs, maybe. But the attitude from the pro-skipping people tends to be "stuff the newbies, they got their cutscenes, why should they need the fights as well?" - so clearly they're not only doing it when nobody should mind.

As to why people would complain when there's no newbies... maybe they're frustrated at the general attitude of people who skip. Maybe they don't like involuntarily becoming "leeches" who aren't helping with the fights. Maybe they find it disconcerting that the fight is over when it's supposed to be beginning. Maybe they just wanted to punch Gaius in the face again.

i literally said we just turn them into the regular dungeons after you complete the solo instance version. once you beat it the first time, you cant complete it again as a solo. Thus we still keep the msq roulette as well as they appearing in the mentor roulette.
Again its a win-win situation. newbies get to see the story and fights, vets get to keep the rewards from the roulette as long as SE keeps the beefed up rewards of course.

The entire point of roulettes and their bonus is to get people to queue up for stuff so the first time players don’t have to find a specific group to run it. If there’s no new players needing a group to run it, there’s no need for a roulette.

One thing I would like to point out (and I apologize if it already has been, because I didn't read through the pages and pages of replies) is that those viewing the Japanese dub will get through certain cutscenes faster. Especially before the Gaius fights in Praetorium. So please don't jump the gun and think everyone is a skipper just because they're sitting there waiting for everyone else to catch up.

That said... It's usually pretty obvious who is intentionally exploiting in order to skip the scenes, and I agree they should be reported. If you don't have to 40-50 minutes to devote to the roulette, don't run it. Simple as that. You don't have to ruin the experience for others - especially the influx of new players we've been getting who are experiencing these events for the first time.

The enormous bonuses only exist because of the unskippable cutscenes. If you get skipping back, you lose the bonuses.
