What I meant is when it is still the FOM contents, there are many players in the instant and searching for party is not hard and the fight will be fast. Once the hype cool down it is not impossible to do but either PF, find someone from FC/friend to help. in PF usually could get a small party on weekend, Bozja usually fill up faster, Eureka so far in PF need some luck, with DC travel the matter get worse.
When Bozja was still flesh content, i have my 2nd relic and clear the story in about a month or 2. Eureka, I return when ShB was a month away, and I am currently still stuck in first island XD.

other route would be finding help from FC, can say it is more a "me" problem. I have some help with FC friends at the begining in Eureka but knowing they already done the whole Eureka + my online time isnt fix everyday. I feel I could not repaid their kindness, so I tend to PF or shout in the map.

may be FOMO is the wrong word, it is like any content when it first come out getting it done will be quick and painless. When the "best before date" expire, players have less or no incentive to return or rerun those content. I remember back in ARR before daily roulette is a thing, the 3 Alliance Raid could get over 2 hrs queue and still not able to popped.

It may not be a race, but it isn't necessarily fun either. This circles back to my previous post where I mentioned a friend barely having time to play. She doesn't care about being behind other players. It simply isn't fun for her to go potentially weeks with minimal progression due to limited time to play all because RNG decided to be stingy.

Saying they'll just buff the drop rate later doesn't make the process any better.

That's just the consequences of playing MMORPG though?? I mean, RNG loot (and grind) is typical of this genre of game. Right now I also don't have time to play at all, but personally speaking it's not a big deal.

To be honest, I would like to experience this grind myself, just for the sake of it, but in the same vein, I am actually struggling to care or be motivated about the content in any capacity whatsoever. Quite literally been doing Eureka. Have been watching OC streams on the side and it looks nice, but it feels empty, and how it is played seems very much... Not exploration heavy? I could be wrong, but this is just the impression I got.

RNG-based grinds have never really been widely liked by the community, it is why we generally have failsafe measures in a lot of the content, e.g., extreme primal mounts. If they normalized these grinds with no failsafe guaranteed measures, then I think a lot more people would push back against it... I'm also of the mindset that a lot of people aren't necessarily happy because it is atma, but just more-so the fact they have something to occupy their time, which if I am honest they could have designed much better.

Give how the development team operates as of the past 5 years, it's most likely they will continue this trend going forward in that... Heavy 1-time step, whether RNG-focused, or actual grind-focused, and then subsequent relics for that stage get streamlined.

I suppose I can admit I was initially surprised when they elected to design the grind in the manner that they have, but then when I think about the fact that it's Square Enix, it's very much on-brand.

Then to be honest they need to fully commit to that design direction and not do their half-committal dipping-our-toes in design. It's usually not a problem when you actively design the game around that, but when you only really do it once-in-a-blue moon type deal, then you will get a lot of push back simply because the community has grown accustomed to that particular design.

Like, for well over 8-9 years they have actively gone out of their way to reduce RNG-based elements from the game.

I don't mind a long grind. I mind RNG.

RNG grinds are the worst. I don't wanna log on and spend multiple hours doing this and make 0 progess.

I can't take it at my own pace because me doing it at my own pace I literally might never finish the damn thing. Because I'd rather go play a different video game than put time into this one when it's not respecting that time.

And before anyone says "just go play a different game then" - you're not understanding the problem. I WANTED a reason to play THIS one. I was looking forward to this since I finished the MSQ. I am let down by the means in which they went about this.

This is the problem, i finished the atma farm a few hours ago.
The most boring and frustrating part is you have no clue about when you'll be done.
A grind would have been way better than RNG, because you can feel the progress and go at your own pace.
It was litteraly a boring chore, i felt relief when i was done, not happy, this wasn't really fun.
The last atma took me like 3 hours, i was pissed off to the point i wasn't enjoying the whole process.

A long grind is great, but adding this big of RNG to it means that long grind is going to be A LOT longer for some and not for others, thus making an unequal grind amongst all players.

I just finished my wep today and it took me 4.5hrs to get the only yellow atma I needed still from living memory and RNG being RNG, it took only 30 mins to get all 3 in urqopacha. Legit felt bad for the ppl in my group I had joined that were out there for hours and barely saw 1 and I got mine in that short time with them.

It's stuff like that kind of RNG that makes a long grind a lot less enjoyable. I'm hoping the future steps are also super grindy, but not of the RNG kind and instead something that is equal with no luck based aspect to it.

I think mixed reception for OC is selling it a bit short, the only thing people seem to have any problem with is the relic atma RNG and that’s not really OC itself that’s the relic

Yes atma RNG is literally my only frustration. I love the zone, I love the lore, I love the phantom jobs, the rewards in the shops are excellent, the rewards from the chest are also good, from rare items to low drop rate retainer venture items. The gear, both zone and glam, is well designed, and they made the glam all classes which is a huge plus when the zones in the past only gave role-locked gear. I love everything about OC except the atma RNG.

I totally agree with you. It was like 2 hours one day, I got 2 atmas & today for 1 hour and a half, I got 1. That is totally ridiculous. So after you get 18 atmas, then fork over 1500 uncapped tomestones. The RNG sucks. No one was doing fates in OC that I saw.

I can't speak for this new content, by I'm doing a 2nd ARR zodiac relic (Thyrus I think it's called for WHM).

It was quite painful getting ATMA. I was doing 25-30 FATEs and getting nothing for near all of them. I think only one or two came after 5-7 FATEs. After 25-30 FATEs I'd just turn the game off and play something else. So if this is the same in new content, it won't be fun.

Oh I understand what you all mean but disagree nonetheless because the grind is really almost nothing compared to other games.
It’s a few days after release and I also don’t have my weapon yet but so what?
I enjoy the fates and ce and am happy when I get a drop and because of this I am now only 4 more from the goal away.

So what if others got it in one day?
What if some streamers with no life flash it I front of the screen?
Why compare to others when this whole thing is not a race in the first place?
Why not just have fun in this content and take the drops as they come?



Stop comparing to other people. This relic isn’t a race and all you will achieve is an over correction from SE again back to the “day 1 relic”.

The only thing I can agree with is that there should be a way to exchange atma for others or a pity system.
Other than that I think the amount of atma we need isn’t big enough even.

I understand WHY some people don’t like the rng but you know, some of us DO like it!
So all those threads here crying about the removal of it will just result in us loosing out on content.
It’s a one time step and I am sure the normal grind will come back in future steps so just do it ONE SINGLE TIME and be done with it.
The world won’t end because some of you needed two weeks instead of one to get the relic and it’s simple math also.
You will have bad runs where nothing drops and then ones where you get 2-3 in a row.

It’s the fear of overcorrecting everything again as to why you see the defensive backlash here.

Spamming fates isn't really considered content. It's become repetitive to where we're all just used to it.

The rng is probably what annoys most. The grind itself is fine, relics taking a while to acquire is fine, it's what we wanted after all.
What quickly turns opinions sour is when you feel like you wasted your time.

It might've been better if they made the drop rate almost guaranteed but instead increased the amount you needed.
Then you can at least roughly guess how long it is going to take and make steady progress, instead of some people getting it in 8 hours while others need to spend days.

Its RNG, my friends and I have been doing this content toghter. I am at 80 fates and still need 8 demiatma, my friend already got his after 50 fates and my other friend still needs 15 demiatma.

RNG is the worst.

Fates ARE content even if you don’t like it and these fates actually have good mechanics if they aren’t rushed by a train compared to the normal ones in the over world.
And the CE’s can’t be rushed anyway and are full of mechanics.

People here ask for a “grind”. As if running Alexander a bunch of times for light farming or crystal tower 50 times was anywhere groundbreaking or more involved and I actually like grinding.

Actually CE's and fates are rushed the moment they spawn besides the CE wait timer. If you think doing fates for years on is content then you need to start looking outside the box. Fates in the cosmo exploration were some of the most tedious ones created especially with the base upgrade ones.

That's exactly what rubs me the wrong way. We have people that do enjoy it, get their relics fast, and give us shit when people like us that want to be done with hunt train gameplay for hours and hours and move on to the actually interesting step where I can just do the content I like and spend tomes, pull the short straw and have to farm five times as long because rng decided that the people that hate it will have it the worst, and people that love it will be done with it fast and get frustrated by the short length.

Feels even better when you're doing this alongside friends and you also pull the short straw. It's just demotivating/depressing when you're getting a nothingburger when they're all happy about their candies.

Fates that have actual mechanics that are fun if they aren’t rushed instead of the “kill 20 Basilisk” in the normal overworld.
Surely we have no understanding what actually is content and what not.

I give you that fates as a concept are probably not fitting into the modern times anymore with fate trains existing but that doesn’t invalidate their existence.

Where can I participate in such fates when they die within 5s every time?

Sorry to rain on your parade but those "Fates" in the Crescent die within 15-30 seconds or less of spawning. Fates as a concept of being content is getting old and hasn't been improved on throughout the years.

I'll give you one thing though. They feel 1000% less obnoxious than the DDR fiestas that are CEs. I'd love if they weren't all boring bosses though, but that's a thing that I cannot take from them.
Would also probably feel better if they didn't have the full instance zerging them over since everything is designed to spawn one at a time to make sure everybody can get there until the next thing spawns on the map.

Believe me, I also hate the rushing of these fates and wish they had a safeguard against that.
That’s actually a criticism I also give in this regard, that the old fate design doesn’t fit into the modern “culture” of the players anymore who rush and rush everything.

I am pretty sure the rushing will also tune down a bit when the more rushing players get done and leave the content.

I am just against disregarding these fates as “no content” just because someone doesn’t like fates.
It’s that type of obscure and generalizing feedback that got us EW relics in the first place. (And that is what I am scared of)
Fates like these with fun mechanics themselves are good.
The way they are implemented has room for improvement though.

Having now finished the Demiatma step, my sole issue with it is how unbalanced the Atmas are in themselves, specifically as I mentioned in another thread, Verdigris is by far the rarest, and unless someone has a very lob-sided RNG pattern, which entirely possible, it will become a bottleneck, perhaps something could be done, like either give this specific Demiatma a boosted drop rate, but that's about it.

And I would agree with that given that I already wrote that the concept of fates has certainly much needed room for improvement.

I like the fates in that zone themselves (mechanics, fight design).
I can understand why people don’t like fates as they are BUT I disagree to brush them off as being no content or that I try to force people into liking them.

It’s honestly as if this whole forum is against the notion that people can like content as it is sometimes.
And I absolutely do not hide my disdain for how DT was to this point.


I already wrote it somewhere else in the past.
I criticism the devs if there are things to criticize and I give them praise if I think they did good work.
That is all my opinion though, not a fact, not a neutral stance (I like field zones in themselves arlready) nor am I infailable.

We all knew beforehand what the field zone would be like and that we would get a grind back.
You are not bared from obtaining the relics just because you don’t like the fates.

When Bozja was still flesh content, i have my 2nd relic and clear the story in about a month or 2. Eureka, I return when ShB was a month away, and I am currently still stuck in first island XD.

other route would be finding help from FC, can say it is more a "me" problem. I have some help with FC friends at the begining in Eureka but knowing they already done the whole Eureka + my online time isnt fix everyday. I feel I could not repaid their kindness, so I tend to PF or shout in the map.

may be FOMO is the wrong word, it is like any content when it first come out getting it done will be quick and painless. When the "best before date" expire, players have less or no incentive to return or rerun those content. I remember back in ARR before daily roulette is a thing, the 3 Alliance Raid could get over 2 hrs queue and still not able to popped.

I understand what you mean now yeah, I get it! Thanks for explaining, I think thats a fair and valid feeling, I think you're right that SE often misses that point for people that can't rush and spam the new content due to other commitments

It's RNG. There's always going to be someone with more luck then you. Comparing your progress to others will do nothing but upset you.
It's like getting pissed that someone got an ex mount before the 99 totems. Overall, it's pointless since it doesn't change your grind.
You can be upset about it being RNG. I ain't going to stop you. Heck, I even agree that the drop rates are a bit low. But when you compare and get upset, that's on you.

One thing I've learned from short-sided rng grind bullshit is never compare yourself to someone else. It will only make you feel worse and make you want to quit. It's not your fault the developers are incompetent morons.

They will nerf it because of the mountain of feedback I've seen on just about every social media platform I use. There's no way this will go into the next step unaltered and if does it's just more incompetence from them. And at that point, they deserve the lost revenue from lapsing subscriptions. But unfortunately, this game has a boatload of shills who buy everything Square-Enix touches so it might go unnoticed, but I will say I've never seen this much anger in a system since the original atmas. You'd think they would've learned the last time...
