He is director and producer, I am not sure he does Development, I dont see "lead Developer" as part of what he does. he is listed as Producer for XVI. in terms of his job, while I am sure a bit more time may have been spent on XVI, I doubt it should have affected Development as a whole, since he's not in the trenches coding.

The suggestion to go outside/take a walk/touch grass doesn't really bother me (solid advice for anyone if you ask me), but the passive-aggressiveness of these suggestions does. And yes, most of the time it is passive aggressiveness, not a friendly suggestion.

I've honestly been saying that maybe they need to hire more people for their team. I understand OP and I feel it too, it just sucks. I'm having a harder time with each patch release to get excited because I know at most there's only 1-2 hours of anything new. I will say though the new deep dungeon is definitely a step in the right direction, however everything else has seen a decline in quality imo.

I see what you're saying here but the problem is the things I said 3 years ago weren't claims to a community actively paying me for a product. I even gave him leeway in the OP that it could have been a poor prediction as people aren't infallible and I understand that. However, that being said? We are still deserving of something here in the way of acknowledgement as like I said, we are actively paying for a product and a false promise was made. Even just a simple "sorry, I messed up and will strive to do better" would be enough but the complete radio silence on the recent lack of quality leads me to believe this is just the status quo now and that's a really hard pill to swallow.

They need to add trivial achievements, like one for wearing a full set of blues.

Yeah sure, nobody likes attitude, but if we can get over that for a minute and actually understanding whats being said, maybe we'd find more value in words, instead of being Blinded by how we feel they are presented. Have you done all 100 floors of the new DD? It's quite literally the best iteration of Deep Dungeon content we have got so far.

In regards to the relic weapon...no one is playing the game "casually" and finishing the relic weapon on multiple jobs in a SINGLE DAY. Maybe the first one, because you were prudent and saved up on tomestones but after that...not a chance.

Here's the thing...there might be a valid discussion around the topic of whether or not FF16 affected the development cycle of FF14. But if you want to have an adult conversation about it, you don't use click bait forum threads "Yoshi-P Lied!" and give zero data and heaps of hyperbole to back up your claim. I see a lot of "this was lazy", "that was lazy"...it just comes across like someone has spent too long in the dark corners of reddit, drank the kool-aid and decided to bring it over to the official forum.

Yoshida has said multiple statements over the years that didn't really happen. Just to name a few examples:
1. FC Housing and Personal Housing being a separate thing.
2. Free Companies being able to summon primals out in the open world.
3. Hrothgar and Viera having unique hairstyles in the future to compensate for the lack of headgear.

I can probably find a few other examples, but I remembered those off the top of my head.

Which is why I take everything he says with a huge grain of salt. Including the old "take a break" quote people like to treat as gospel.

Why is it you want the company to fail outright? They've created quality games before and can do so again. If they fail entirely we lose that potential, is this just a desire to watch the world burn? For all my criticisms of Yoshi and SE I've made in this thread it comes from a place of wanting the game to return to form such as we had in the 5.X cycle. It isn't because I think the game is dying or want it to die so I'm having a hard time understanding your mindset here.

Last time they ever made anything good was in the PS1 and PS2 era after that they went downhill

I do not see the content they have brought about in 6.1 to 6.3 as lesser, there are a lot of factors here.

1) They have enough variety just haven't nailed the reward system for some of them and if the next variant and island sanctuary updates knock them down then its a success in the long term

2) Not all content is catered to us... resources are finite just because its not gone to endgame doesn't mean they are lazy. Reworking the trusts into past dungeons and in some cases reworking dungeon layouts or redesigning bosses isn't a straightforward process. They need new players to survive just as much as the veterans, you can only get so much from people who have played since launch..people move on with real-life commitments or develop other interests to name a few. On top of those changes reworking castrum and prae, remaking fights once trials now solo duties...it takes time and work. PvP rework was massive in the grand scheme of things and allocated visual asset time to making maps and gear specifically for it... not only assets there but assets for island sanctuary and in 6.4 the island sanctuary expansion which we have been told is a new area. On top of assets for the variant dungeon too...like its a lot of asset creation that was in this instance taken from the relic exploratory zone.

3) He hasn't lied per say but then I will say he hasn't come out and changed his mind, its very easy in your schedule to say I plan to do XYZ and in the end only make X....stuff changes, goals shift and priorities change. Stuff can happen, just depends when those prioritises shift.

4) 16 I doubt had a big impact on anything as my points mention above...go to December 21st on the 16 twitter where he posts that the game is about 5-7 months behind schedule in covid because of them waiting for the delivery of assets from outside contractors or in some cases had asset deliveries canceled... its not all in house. They have contractors from across the globe likely helping them.

5) Think about this too... Heavensward...patch content....stormblood...patch content....shadowbringers....some patch content and during that time 16 was in a production full swing too was made by them during the time it took for business division 1 to announce they're making FF7 remake PART 1 to its release in April 2020. This team is efficient for the most part.

I was very disappointed with the second step of the combat relics.

I was really hoping for some 70 alliance raid or 80 alliance raid grinds to fill in those slots. I was with a friend for those queing for those raids on chaos for 2 hours the other day. That's unacceptable, no matter what the time is.

I was also hoping that if it was not the raids, then SHB / EW fates to populate the zones - but nope!

I think we forget that quite a few people can max on preferred servers in a few months of playing. This is an MMO, ppl will max then cancel their sub until the next major patch, so SE lose out on money.

I've played since 2.0 and I'm really disappointed they did this.

It would be nice, but I think we both know it has a very low possibility of actually happening. Not that it would stop most of those who already complain from doing so.

Everything else has crashed with EO, multiple bardings, rare pets.

Most of us knew the XVI development would hurt XIV. We just didn't know how much but luckily, now we do.

There's still content you can do, but if that content appeals to you or not is the big question

Rerunning old content, lvling DoH or DoL or doing ultimates is what it boils down to

I think 6.35 was enough to get people on the fence to admit that we've been having several bad patches in a row. On the first few days after it launched, there were a bunch of people posting about how it was a letdown (rightfully so), so the white knights have been working overtime to try and do some damage control.

I felt the decline in Shadowbringers already but this is on a whole another level. Now we finally get longer form content with EO but what's even the point of doing it when you can just get a better weapon by farming some tomes? It's like we're in oppositeland where the relic is handed to you for nothing and you have to actually put in effort to get a weapon from deep dungeon that's inferior in every way. How do they manage to release content in the same damn patch that completely cannibalize one another... That just completely deflates my interest in the content alltogether. No one is running content just for the sake of doing it, that's why no one is doing variant/criterion anymore. This expansion has been so barren in content that I feel you'd had to have been actively avoiding leveling to not have all combat jobs at 90 by now, so there goes the leveling aspect too.

I don't even know what to think of the "relic" of this expansion. I mean as someone who plays multiple jobs it's nice that they're easy to get but farming tomes is not interesting, that's what everyone's been doing since the game came out. It just feels lazy and uninspired, like they're not even pretending to try anymore. No one in their right mind can even call this relic content, in fact this is the most pitiful noncontent for a relic we've seen yet.

This is my general take, too. We don't know whether FFXVI is taking up resources away from FFXIV or not, but given the game's history, I'd be inclined to believe so. People like Koji Fox and Soken mysteriously stopped making appearances on FFXIV - who were some of the most visible figures in the community - and the quality of the overall patches also feels different.

I've been playing the game for roughly the same time as you, and I think this is the first time I've felt completely bereft of things to do. Even HW's 3.1 (which was pretty bad), still managed to grab my attention in one form or another.

But then you have people come out of the woodwork saying things like "Have you cleared Ultimate?" "Have you gotten the Accursed Hoard achievement?" "Have you done X, Y and Z?" If not then stop complaining. Only to finish their statements with a "Yoshi-P said we should take a break and he's looking after us. He's so kind uwu." Usually coming from someone who started playing a year or two ago, too.

I agree with this, they could have at least tied it to EO past floor 31 to fill the PF with runs after you couldn't match make.

They usually do it to fill content but it has completely missed the mark this time.
