Don't know about you, but I have an LS. In fact thanks to them I am now 8/9 seals as of last night :)

Not too shabby. Got 5 seals in about 2-3 days and now Im bored of hamlet. So meh
I like drama.
I don't think it should matter for social shells, but having one endgame shell isn't out of the ordinary. Linkshells will probably default to social communities anyway once the free companies come out.
Interview of Naoki Yoshida during the Japan Expo
Yoshida : We'll keep the linkshell, so players will have several linkshell pearls, they can talk to their friends whenever they want to like a chat community system, while the Free Company is more like a guild, you can't be in several guild, you can only select one Free Company. You can have several linkshells, it's more casual so that you can chat with your friends, while the Free Company is more like a strong community, you have to stick to one.
Problem Solved.
:-)
If you don't like it you can always go play "Hello Kitty Island Adventure"^^
The problem is there are so many fucking noobs in this game, and we aren't even at PS3 release yet. Even the so called actual endgame LS's struggle to find decent players and are therefore half filled with noobs. I did an AV run a few weeks ago with one of my LS and there was at least one dude who had never even done AV before. Really? At this stage of the game? And it's no wonder that group could barely handle speed runs, much less 17 min ones. It's a story that's repeated itself for many LS on the server. I can think of like 2 NA LS that actually accomplish things without having major derp fests.
People try things with different LS out of desperation. I'm not saying i approve of shell hoppers, in fact I hate them. I wish i did have one LS that could get everything done that i wanted to do. But when you're forced to fail shit repeatedly due to filling the pt with the noobs of your LS, it's frustrating.
The fact of the matter is that there aren't enough "good" or dedicated players on the game right now. The ones that are around are already in the aforementioned LS's that actually get shit done. In my experience, most people think they are better players than they actually are.
You have to train newer players, or you're never going to find that LS you're looking for. Not everyone has played this game while it was pretty awful (and let's be honest, it's still very mediocre) and did the content right as it came out.
You're going to have to invest in the community to see a return.
It's a futile effort, espcially when the noobs can't be bothered to actually put any time or money into improving their character or listen/react to instructions. It's like they expect the content to fall over for them and give them the gear they need to actually win the content from the content itself. Not to mention that in the time it takes to "train" these idiots, Dalamud will have already crushed us all.
And i'm still amazed at how many people haven't (or hadn't b4 the GC quests forced some of them) even killed the open world NMs.
To be honest, if you're a brand new LS, and your ENTIRE LS has not done some of the most basic content (Av/CC/DH/Ifrit/Moogle) then its fine to learn as you go...
For those of us who have been founded since day 1, and beat all the content as it was released... it's just not worth it to wipe 15 times learning stuff that's been out 3months+
We have carried people through content (by we I mean the LS), just because we were short 1 person... but here and there you find someone who actually knows what they're doing, and even though they have never played with you, or your strat they can adapt, and understand the content enough to change their style on a whim.
This is what makes the players in your linkshell stronger (figuratively). Anyone can memorize content, and a strat...but when you get thrown into content that you've done one way, and can adapt easily then you've made it.
This is what "endgame" LSs are looking for...not someone who knows how to do 1 piece of content really well because they've spammed it for weeks. Those are the players who wait until "nerfs" or videos come out to attempt new content.
There's probably less than 20 of these people on this server, because the rest are in an endgame LS already. Then they end up doing content with 10 different linkshells because that person can adapt... and the others are *JUST* good enough to do the same content over and over, with the same people, and same strat.
Need more non-noob LS's to be made.
its a game not a job.
Doesn't mean you shouldn't do everything it has to offer.
and that's why its a game cause you don't have to. People don't have to. or Like you said right here,
INSTANTLY label him a noob cause hes never done it? Maybe he had just got his first 50 or a returning play that left before AV was out then came back? are you that much of an elitist? Its so hard to tell a person to follow you and avoid the acid pits? or just spam aoes when they need to?
And shell hoppers? YOUR one of them you barely EVER did anything in our shell. You only ever came in the shell for you own benefit always asking "hey can anyone help me with....". I dont mind people that have other shells i don't. i hate the ones with others shell who only come in ours and are like gimme gimme gimme.
You are lucky you left our shell before i read this i would've booted you in one second. I don't want someone like you wearing our flag representing us and giving us a bad name.
You act like i'm attacking you or your LS or something. Well now i will.
You're a PST LS. I'm in EST and, i know it's hard to believe because it's contrary from 90% of players on this game, but i do work for a living irl so i don't stay up til 5am every night. When you guys are gathering i'm on the verge of hitting the sack. And i never heard a single complaint about that. If anything, i was treated as an outsider due to the time zone difference. Kaiko was the only person who even tried to work with me half the time. I did things with your LS on weekends when there were actually sign ups on the site. And for the record i never got anything from AK. Pretty sure i even passed a piece of Darklight, not that you were ever in those runs anyway. Maybe i got a hamlet seal one of the times i ran with you guys? I don't remember, most of those were from Hamlet LS runs or PUGs. Maybe some Moogle weapons from over a year ago? Which everyone else also got. The point is i gave my time to help on things for little to nothing in return so don't go dragging my name through the mud. Fact of the matter is you guys weren't doing the things i needed help on anyway so there comes a point where it's hard to justify spending all my time there for nothing in return. I don't think it's a big deal to ask for something as simple as killing one NM in that case either. Not sure what else you would be referring to me asking for, especially outside the past month or so.
And yes, the fact that we never achieved 17 min runs in AV that night or even speed runs for that matter makes that person a noob along with the other half of the pt who was sucking (this wasn't even with AK, if that's what you were thinking). I've taken part in those runs, it's not hard. There's more to it than just following someone. You have to know what's coming and adapt to everyone else i.e. at least been there before and been successful to see how your role plays out in the big picture. When your "follow, avoid acid pits and aoe spam when needed" gets you those runs, get back to me.
And shell hoppers? How dare you accuse me of that. From the moment i joined AK it was never my "main" LS nor was it ever asked to be, especially considering i already had an "endgame" shell at the time. It's always been a social shell for me regardless of how you view the type of LS it is yourself. I also find it funny how Kya actually is one of the biggest shell hoppers i know, and yet she holds or at least held (not sure lately) a sack in AK and everyone loves her. She even calls it a social LS herself, yet i see no one lashing out at that. I guess that's because she's one of those ppl with no job that stays up til 5am with you guys and shows/tells you what you want to see/hear, which apparently is what you percieve as a "good member".
Maybe you'll be pleased to know that i have no LS anymore. Gee, i'm such a huge shell hopper, right? Maybe if you played the game with any sincerety (oh wait, that's not "playing" to you) you would actually be able to make these accusations of yours with any basis of truth.
Kouji and I our both EST time players. He works a PM shift and I do Overnights. I still find the time to help out people when I can. People need help, some can't do it on their on and need the experience. If they never get a chance to learn, because people like you not giving them a single chance whether they; just started playing, just to to level 50, took a large break and are still unfamiliar with the new combat system, or it's just their first time doing the event even though it's been out for a few months because they have been leveling the necessary jobs/classes to get it done?
You talked about your time of not being able to join a linkshell because it's a PST and your EST. Well what's to say a person couldn't do an event before because they didn't a have linkshell that had an available time to do it for them? Why are they immediately classified as a noob, instead of a newbie?
I've been playing 2 years. I've helped plenty of people, practically an entire LS that left the game and screwed me over. The fact of the matter is that people that are just now coming back/haven't experienced new combat/just now leveling a class etc. are not going to have the experience necessary to successfully contribute to the content i'm on at this stage of the game anyway, not before 2.0 for sure. It's futile to try unless you're with a solid group. I'm not going to keep helping noobs that aren't serious and don't want to "buck up" and will probably quit the game anyway leaving me high and dry again. I hear talk of ppl leaving to play other games all the time.
And the game mechanics are not hard. I'm sorry, but anyone who can not figure it out by level 50 and know how their job works is, in fact, a noob. But that's a PL story for another time.
The same can happened with experienced players to. It's a risk. Either you join a experienced group and you do what you want, but as soon as they get they want, they could screw you.
The same could happen with an inexperienced person/group. But maybe helping them will think "Hey, this person helped me out, so they shoould get the item first".
I don't think it comes down to luck of the draw, it comes down to people. Like i said: Need more non noob LS with dedicated, honest players that have long term goals and do things on a regular basis. When ppl are dedicated they aren't going to just bail all of a sudden. Problem is there aren't enough good players on the server left that aren't already in groups like that.
Oh really? I EST to and i usually only stay up till 2 am and work at 6 making a living irl too so your can get off that high horse working class bullshit.
And sorry i didnt make that run that dark light dropped cause the over night guy at my jobs wife was having a kid and i covered his shift so he could got to the hospital and watch his new baby girl being born. Nice job saying shit before you make assumptions.
And hell i need absolutely nothing from AV,Ifrit,Garuda, CC, moogle, or DH yet i still do them cause even though i get nothing out of them cause i actually enjoy helping people with them.
So to tell the newer person to follow Person A, and to Flare all at the same time to kill flower, diremits, mushrooms and to not fall into the GIANT YELLOW POOLS, is SOOOOO hard?
good i hope all the players you call "Noobs" drive you crazy and force you to quit, while i'm still here having fun. Playing with my friends, and helping people who need it instead of calling them noobs and storming off like a child. Cause they learn and if not oh well i'll adapt to it.
I never had any beef with you or anyone else in particular. This is unfortunate and i get no joy out of it.
Again on the AV thing, get back to me when you have your Miser's Mythril. You're talking like you have successfully done all this. Everything is easy by itself when you're resigned to getting by doing the very least possible. You can explain to people what to do and how to do it all you want but when they fail to listen or follow through with it, fail to improve over time, are too damn slow to react in time or simply don't want to be part of a successful team and are just here to "shoot the shit", then they are noobs. This was just reinforced by a CC PUG i was in. You are making it sound like i'm saying it's hard. That's the point i'm trying to get across, IT'S NOT HARD. But obviously for the majority of people it is, which just boggles my mind. The human race in general is full of fucking idiots though so i guess it comes as no surprise that it carries over to this game.
I don't know anything about your story about the darklight. Chances are that didn't even happen during the instance i was referring to. If you're trying to say you have rl obligations, fine. Who doesn't? But you completely missed my point, regardless.
I'm not on any high horse working class BS. GJ for working on 4 hours of sleep? Let me know your secret to how i can do that with 12-16 hour days M-F that don't involve sitting on my ass at a computer or flipping burgers. Really, i want to know.
Some people have the drive to make themselves (or their characters) better, some don't. You and many other people on this game are obviously the latter. It's just differeing lines of thinking and i don't care how people align themselves, but when someone is surrounded by people that are not like minded this is what happens.
I am sorry but God you sound like a Dbag...
as if you started the game level 50 already
yes some players started just months weeks or days ago and yeah at some point they will want to do some runs once they hit 50
and the "experienced" or "awesome" players like you should tell them what to expect.
Some time when I do things for the first time (yeah I am one of those newbie I guess), and I MENTION that I never did it, nobody takes time to explain what's gonna happen... sorry that I don't want to spend time to check youtube, lodestone and ever single website to understand what to do in Hamlet or Ifrit or whatever the awesome player like you do.
I personally can't wait to create my own noob-helping LS once 2.0 hits because the game is confusing since nothing in-game give you clear indication of how to play efficiently
Hope I never get to play with you btw
with great happiness id like to inform you we just got the speed run with a new person Enialis Emnathil who was his first AV who joined the shell 3 days ago. Beat it at 38 min left. The new guy only has mnk at 50 and hasnt beat the Final Mnk af quest. and with the only meld are cobalt claws with +16 strength. And all i told was follow Lol Drg, avoid the yellow and spam aura pulse if some things arent killed by our blm flares.
Ps he is drunk
double PS
incase you one of those pics or id didnt happen

Huh, that's weird...just got a "noob" player a speed run. He's a 50 MNK, but he's been away from the game for about a year, derp.
I love how elitist players like you claim to be so great and "pro". However, there's a big difference between being narcissistic and being truly "elite". I think you're the former.
I vaguely remember you getting hit by cracks in Ifrit, which are pretty easy to dodge...derp
You've never parsed high on DD jobs...derp
I recall you running around in Hamlet healing with Cleric Stance on...derp
You're not great Riv, you're average, like 99% of the players, just like me. I consider myself to be one of those average players. So how dare YOU belittle other players and make them out to be less than you. Get over yourself.
To any Linkshells actively recruiting out there on the mighty Masamune server, think twice about adding people like this. He'll probably do more to scare away potential talent, than actually add to your "elite" talent pools.
(and by the way...how did you expect to get a 17 min run with a new player in the first place? You do realize that most people are doing those runs as statics, with a very specific set up and very specific guidelines? I highly doubt that there will be very many successful pick up groups doing these.)
So, not to put you on the spot - but I assuming you are complaining that Chimera is not good/active enough?
to be honest, most of these "dedicated honest players" are smart enough NOT to be playing a colossal failure that has a very good chance of failing a second time. I don't get elitism or arrogance in game that is considered one of the laughing stocks of the MMO community. I mean even SWTOR fans have a one up on us - that's ridiculously sad.
... at least we have miqote in coliseum gear ; ;
