The whole 'One Linkshell Rule' thing...

I've been seeing this a lot lately, and while I'm not against it and can somewhat understand it, I think some LS leaders can be a bit strict about it.

I've been party to a very small group of friends ever since 5-6 years ago in FFXI, the Inner Circle. We've never been anything more than a social LS with 5-8 people on (our joke was that if everyone else left, there'd still be Kuronori holding out). While not everyone has made the move to FFXIV for various reasons (most couldn't afford a higher end PC, failed launch, 2.0 PS3 release, yada yada) I made a point to keep the shell up and running for my friends when they did decide to come back.

We currently have about 3 active members. And since the LS wasn't originally mine, I'm wary about inviting players from outside our circle of friends. So it remains a tiny social LS where the most we can do is group together for light events/parties.

So naturally, I've been looking for endgame event LS's to take part in. But I keep running into the "One Linkshell Rule" asking me to give up my other one. The reasoning is that I'd be creating unnecessary multi-linkshell drama that's unwanted. I don't really see how my small, tight-nit social LS would do that.

TL/DR: I can understand having multiple Endgame linkshells being a problem. But multiple social LS's? C'mon.

Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous. Luckily I haven't come across that problem yet. And if someone asks me to drop a ls to be in theirs...I'll probably drop theirs. Depending.

it's not ridiculous because the 1 endgame rule been like that sense ffxi. But in ffxiv there a reason for it not many endgame linkshell know this they just do it for there own reason. But when 2.0 come out you can only be in one Free company which is for endgame the linkshell system would just be for talking and such you your allow to have more then one but free company you only allow to join one like wow guild system.

If your in a linkshell that is not a endgame linkshell saying you could only be in one linkshell then ya that just mess up lol.

Honestly, I have yet to hear of a linkshell on Aegis that has this rule. I run my own linkshell, it was social at first, but lately we've been scheduling events and such. I don't consider us an endgame linkshell, but there is no way... ever, that would cause me to enforce a rule like that. It's just ridiculous. In XIV, multiple linkshells are kind of needed, no matter how full and active your list is. You can't take everyone with you to your 'scheduled' events.
That's my opinion anyway... some rules are just too elitist for me. I tell my linkshell members to join other linkshells especially since timing can be an issue, and they are still pretty active in mine.

@Zanaku Not trying to be mean but, punctuation is not your strong point...is it? Nor is some of your spelling. I had to re-read your paragraph a few times just to get what you were trying to say. If English isn't your first language, I'll throw my grammar nazi out the window for now but...meh.

Anyway, I can understand having a main ls. I have one myself that I will not be willing to part with easily (I'll probably consider them my Free Company when that feature become available). And I have joined a few other ls's while telling them they are welcome to invite me for any primal runs or anything else if they need to and if I'm available.

I play this game to have fun and make friends. It's not a job, and I shouldn't have to have any entitlements. But it should also be known that I am not the type of person to join a linkshell to abuse their resources then ditch them. If people help me, I'm pretty good at returning the favor.

I run an end-game Linkshell for the present and future, and would never enforce a rule like this. People like to join their social linkshells during event down-time/off-days, And I have no problem with that. Although since our linkshell is a jack of all trades, people tend to socialize more in ours than their "social" linkshell, but even if they did talk in another linkshell, I really don't care. Our pearl is on during events, any other time it's up to the player's discretion. I rather people want to wear our pearl because we are a great group of people to talk to and be around, not because I'm forcing someone to do so. That is just silly.

If you or anyone is interested, check out our website, register and talk with us on our general forums, or apply if you are interested in joining as social or full member. We take all people looking for a great home to participate for Pre2.0, during 2.0 and beyond 2.0 .

Urist, hit me up when the game's up. I got a great shell for you with no restrictions. Also with nothing else to do other than primals and dungeons really, social shells will do said content to keep occupied for one. As you can have up to 8 shells this one shell drama is stupid. Even with largish shells you still alot of the time end up filling one or 2 slots with pugs.
Say for example, you have for the sake of argument 5 or so shells and they all do the dungeons, etc but your schedule isn't set in stone for work or rl, so you will end up going with whatever shell is doing whatever event at the time that fits you best. That could end up being you looking like you're hopping all over the place but that's how it is even with shells that are full and still are hard-pressed to fill the pt.

I'm a member of several shells and while I cannot fathom anyone demanding you only have 1 LS total, I can understand having to pick 1 main endgame LS.

I have often refused invites to linkshells because they required me to drop other pearls...
