Red Mage, confirmed!
I doubt it will be Red Mage. Red Mage will be Fencer, not Musketeer.
The problem with this theory is that rogue/ninja will dual wield two of the same type of weapon in main/off hand and it makes sense to pair them. What you're describing is not.
In 1.0 when they added auto-attack it was speculated that a dagger would be added to archer for close up attacks. SE said at the time that this would not be the case because the armory system is based on the weapon that's equipped. Allowing them to equip both a dagger and a bow would in fact not fit within the armory system and no close up weapon was added. That fact, as stupid as it seems, is the reason a bard/archer punches when it is up close for its auto-attack.
While I hope your speculation is true, based on what they did with archer to solve the ranged/up-close attack does not lend to it being the case (barring a change to the armory system).
Yea, I'm willing to bet that it will be Chemist also in Final Fantasy Tactics Chemist were able to use guns again back to FFX-2 where Alchemist was basically a white mage with a gun.. Plus if they are digging for roots of the FFseries Chemist would be it.. I also feel that chemist would be buff heavy class/job which specialize in Aoes.. I can already see its cast animation of chemist going into its unique bag and tossing potions.. lol.. so neat..
so here it is again I just love this FFT style pic.. http://dlgames.square-enix.com/fft/img/jobs/c02_en.png
I want Chemist SO BAD. So, so so bad.
FFXI Red Mage was not what a Red Mage should have been, in my opinion. They were support instead of being a physical / magical hybrid.
I want it too, and think it would be cool, but it would have to be reagent based for me to like it. Like, they actually must have the items to use them on other people. Otherwise it would be unfaithful, in my opinion.
I realize this could be problematic for inventory space so perhaps we/or just Chemist could have a separate inventory for potions? I don't know.
Well chemist started with the dagger and moved on to the gun in tactics, perhaps gladiator/paladin getting stripped of the shank stick may indicate a new class taking them up in the future. Like say chemist comes in and has guns for main hand and daggers for a non damaging off hand and the dagger is used for healing ability "ingredients" and such.
WHM = Wand (wood or natural design)
BLM = Stave (bones or metal mostly)
They became swords because they are no daggers anymore. Rogue get all daggers, coming 2.4Quote:
Also, all daggers were reconverted to swords. For all intents and purposes the daggers were simply short sword models as they were mechanically no different than swords. If you had a dagger it became a sword (new model, new icon).
ARR is a simplified RPG where one of the things they've done is remove all consumables from playing the class (food and potions don't count). If you need something for an ability (like arrows on the BRD) you just get an infinite supply, can use the ability when you want and you don't have to sacrifice inventory space to use it. I believe they used to have class consumables in FFXIV before ARR, stuff like arrows, tomahawks, etc. Considering I'm under the impression they removed them in ARR because they don't serve any purpose other than to be a hassle to playing the class, I seriously doubt they'll reintroduce that mechanic for any of the future ARR classes.
And it wouldn't introduce any problems whatsoever. For every potion or ingredient that you'd want the chemist to use, mix or otherwise, you would just have an ability and you use it like any other ability. You can have a chemist with a "mega-potion" ability that will pull a potion out of empty space and throw it at your target. This would not have anything to do with any mega potions that would be sitting around in your inventory.
Well, it's kind of weird that both classes have 1h+shield and 2h options. Especially when the 2h options are slightly inferior given equivalent item levels and itemization (1h wand + shield has the same stat caps as 2h wand, only difference is the shield combo gets block too).
Wouldn't be surprised if they moved 1 of the two classes to 1h+shield and the other to 2h just to simplify it a bit.
Who said it wouldn't also use magic with the sword?
In FFXI rapier type weapons were essentially cutlasses, few of them were actually rapier shaped and those that were, were more of a cross between a rapier and a cutlass than an actual rapier. This is a video game not reality and that is how it was in ffxi. The icon for most rapier based swords were all of the cutlass shape. Also the most rapier like style sword(a fencing sword) category in FFXI were Fluerets, which COR could not use but only RDM and DRG(who never would dare use one). Also cutlass come in a variety ranging from the rapier like style to the scimitar like style. But yes a cutlass even similar to a rapier is heavier make, made for slashing were a rapier is a piercing sword.

Go ahead and keep saying NO cause RDM doesnt use guns. Guess what? BRD neverrr used bows.
This game will never have more than 10 or 12 classes if they don't fix the party sizes.
Theres three dudes who would like to have a word with you...

I joked w/ my friends and said that Musketeer will be a healing class. XD
Shooting people to heal them ftw!
My one friend said that if that was the case, he'd be leveling it haha....
I thought the gun class would be Blue Mage until I realized everything that fit the pattern:
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7hSMi0FKDz...2BGunblade.jpg
-Gun class
-Not expected
-Already established in plot
-Will probably merge together with a Dark Knight job stemming from Nero and his Crystal Tower exploits (Nero = Black, and he's trying to harness the power of the darkness, but he doesn't seem entirely evil, and CT3 will probably be us saving him, and he has a gunblade.)
-Nero would be the job master probably
This is a big arguement for the mage gun user class.
Orator

Wouldn't the gun class most likely be Corsair from FFXI? Fits so well with the limsa pirate theme as well.
As I said before...
Though someone else in the thread had mentioned that originally in FFXI RDM was able to use guns.Quote:
Yeah but like I said Corsair is way too much the EXPECTED gun class and Yoshida said it is not what will be expected. Machinist is a lesser known gun class but doesnt fit the Musketeer. RDM fits the musketeer but the only range RDM ever used was a small handful of short bows in FFXI.
Sky Pirate perhaps? With the appearance of airships in Eorzea increasing (although I will admit this is far-fetched), perhaps some group of enterprising pirates tries their hand at raiding with one, and the alliance in response is looking for adventurers to intervene. After reaching lv30 in Musketeer, you find yourself volunteered to be bait on a commercial airship, and after defeating the Sky Pirates, they agree to serve the alliance in return for amnesty, establishing a training school for combat in their way.
The main enemy of the plot, and someone in the same army with a peculiar connection to Cid also part of the main plot and still ongoing:
Given two characters have the same style of weapon means it's an actual taught style of fighting, and not just something random. There must be a history behind it, and we already know there's at least some kind of future to it, with the current plot of the Crystal Tower events.
The other gun weapons used by the other generals probably won't come into play as they're all dead. Nero had a hammer but he has only used that in one fight, and has before and since then been using a gunblade.
By the way the idea of a Gunblade class not only supports the current Lightning weapon that we have, but also supports the statement that Yoshida said, that they were working on a costume from a past FF title (in this case it would be Squall or Seifer, who used a Gunblade, probably not Seifer since it's similar to Snow's).
And the FFVIII tie in also links with Triple Triad which is coming with the Golden Saucer.
No kidding? That wasn't my question. I believe my questions was. I have heard nothing about anything saying that the class is alrdy established in the plot. Where did you hear this? You stated that it was as if the DEVs made the statement that the class will be involved with something in the plot. In 1.0 there was a musketeers guild, you went in and you picked up a gun in the CS and your character held it all gangsta side ways like your buddy in the picture and they have a hostile reaction. Yup they all are training us to be like him...

"Why you look just like"
No I didn't.
However they have mentioned many times in the past that they would prefer to add things that make sense in the world of XIV. And a Gunblade Dark Knight is pretty much the epitome of something that would make sense at this point. Not saying for sure that's where it's going, but just saying that all the pieces fit. More so than musketeers. More so than a mage character.
Yes, COSTUME I dont think he means GEAR for your Squall Dark Knight. lol
However for the sake of agreement, the whole GARLEAN armor and gunblade would be suitable for a new tank class which is something we need. But blehh, anythign to do with Garleans and their armor makes me think of FF gone star wars just like FF12... lol
lol your too fantasy for final fantasy
EDIT:
Oh hey forgot to put this in here. The whole "No I didn't"
You said:
I thought the gun class would be Blue Mage until I realized everything that fit the pattern:
-Gun class (a fact)
-Not expected (a fact)
-Already established in plot (hey just threw that in there with bulleted facts to later claim i didnt use it along with them like it was also a fact)
I'm just giving you a hypothesis with various supporting evidence to it.
Musketeer is an idea but Yoshida has all but stated that it won't be Musketeer. You aren't even refuting the facts, you're just trying to overpower my opinion with your own.
And what was that 3rd point followed by?
I believe it was.
Whilst supporting this with "evidence" and completely ignoring evidence that ENTIRELY avoids Garlean direction in 1.0Quote:
Dark Knights are so awesome, So are gunblade users like Sephir. Oh man what if they combine them? Oh Clearly Yoshida is thinking the same.
He didn't state it wouldnt be musketeer and said its not what we will expect. I think he means expecting Corsair JOB and not the CLASS as what we wont expect...
Corsair is the bleeding obvious here.
Clearly, we can surmise how much of a value you hold on actual real information, and how much bias you use in your arguments.
No. He did not state it wouldn't be Musketeer (afaik). He stated it would be something we likely didn't expect, and that would involve Musketeer. As far as Job vs. Class, most questions about such things are asked in a way such as "Can we expect some kind of job to behave like the Musketeer from 1.0?". If you take this and gather the rest of what he says from his other Live Letters, he doesn't rely on specifics to trick the players. For example Rogue is essentially what players would expect as a thief class (without stealing), yet it is simply named "Rogue". He did this to support the in-game lore and not as a trick to the players, and clearly emphasized these points whenever addressing the topic.
A Musketeer as one of the next Jobs isn't something that's at a 0% chance, but I'd say it's pretty low. The idea of a dual wielding pistol class raises the odds a little bit, deviating from the expected, and there's an existing character with dual pistols (Merlwyb), which is a valid point, but that's where the excitement ends and there isn't anything else to back it up.
1.0 is over with. Musketeer isn't around, and Arcanist is.
Clearly you have no sense of humor and/or are hurting in a lower portion of the body because that was a joke buddy. Biased? I think you are subjective to your own personal tastes. I think you are practicing things people in the psych field call Confirmation Bias and Projection. Have a nice day. =)
