    I'm not saying the new gun class is going to be... but its going to be...

    So gun class we arnt suppose to expect, what is it going to be? Well I have a theory and its not all sited nor is it all fact. This is my interpretation of what I have read all over.

    Complete Speculation for debate:

    In 1.0 there was a Musketeers Guild but no Musketeer class. It was said to be a gun user and Yoshida has said he WANTS to work off of the unreleased Musketeer class.

    It is not going to be what we expect(I am thinking they mean the JOB) but the class could very likely be musketeer. One rumor I have heard(more than once) about Musketeer is that it is a dual wielding class, Rapier and a handgun. Rapiers seem logical for Musketeers and only 2 jobs in FF are synonymous rapier users. First Corsair, but corsair IS what is obvious. Corsair will probably eventually be included as a job from Musketeer. Sooo that leaves the unexpected rapier user.

    My prediction:

    I have heard word that class roles might going under some change with support coming into play. Musketeer on its own probably is not going to specifically be a DD but a magic based weaponskill user/support class with heavy use of MP. Think Corsair's Wildfire from FFXI, But it is going to utilize MP more so than TP for Magic based weaponskills. Then think Redmages En-spells. Transitioning to RDM i think it will become more of a support caster some of the job specific spells will be, Phalanx, Haste, and the 50 ability most obviously Chainspells, as well as others. I think possibly RDMs most favorable cross class spells will be from Thaum and Conjurer. Corsair will be a support as well with some fashion of rolls.

    So... I'm not saying the new gun class is going to be RDM, but it is going to be RDM.

    Regardless of what the new classes wind up being, it's very unlikely we would ever get a true dual-wielding class for the same reason that neither Rogue or Ninja have traditional dual-wield: it would cause a gear discrepancy between them and other classes. Being required to find two weapons to be effective for everyone else's one is something that SE has said they wanted to avoid. That's not to say we couldn't get another class that uses two weapons at once, but unless SE changes their mind you would only ever equip one weapon that comes as a set like Monk, Rogue, and Ninja arms.

    They just wont be equipped separately, on and off hand like FFXI or other games. It will be a paired main hand slot, Like monk had been on FFXI and is on XIV. Screenshots of rogue/ninja are dual wielders this is confirmed.

    I know, that's what I said. Largely in response to the rumor that Musketeer would use a gun and sword at the same time. Though I suppose that could still easily be a paired weapon.

    The only other thing I see is them scratching musketeer (at least for now) changing the gun class to what becomes engineer but. The whole thing with Engineer/MACHINIST(the one that used a gun) is they "mickey mouse" items for special attacks which i don't see working for 14. I just don't see these two (in that light at least) coming into play on a game like 14. BUT rdm never was a gun user...

    It is possible that the Rapier would be Main hand weapon, and the gun would be tied to abilities, this way the gun is always there, but it would never change...so there is that obstacle. Unless it changed skin when equipping new rapiers.

    This would be really neat!

    Yes this is exactly how I see it. I had to cut a lot out because of the 2000 character limit. Originally i discussed Engineer and Ranger as well as more about the functionality of the class/job.

    Edit: Oh but I see what you meant now. Liek the gun would never really change its always there. Like Scholars book in FFXI. But then that kind of leaves out the whole lore on the blacksmith guild pioneering gun craft.

    Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The sword would be the "main" weapon and you would off-hand a gun as part of the set. Kind of like Cervantes' weapons if you've ever played any of the Soul Calibur games.
