EDIT: updated
3AM and YoshiP posting..... lol
Original Thread Link: http://goo.gl/PiLzX
NVM he posted at 9:48 AM PST so that's hour and half ago... good... he better be getting some rest lol
Anyways not going to post this on OP doesn't have actual info or anything, we'll see what he posts in few days... hopefully with official translation right away since it's long post....
Suck it Alchemists!....wait thats me!
It puzzles me how he's always apologising for his "long" posts. I'm sure I speak for most people when I say that the more in depth his posts are, the better.
Lets just say some people don't like reading wall of text even if its interesting or even paragraphed correctly, the post is long they don't want to bother reading... but for most part who care about this game will read and like (or disagree on some stuff) on what he posts. For me I just take that last part where he apologized more like get ready for a long post to read which is gonna take up your precious time lol.
You would be very surprised to learn how many adults, even or possibly especially those who spend many hours playing online video games are functionally or partially illiterate. It's a serious problem reemerging today in both Japan and the West.
A full page of text while taking a person reading at an adult level an inconsequential amount of time can be very prohibitive and time consuming for these people.
Hey Rein, just curious, will there be more Eorzea Famitsu specials coming out? I noticed it says Vol.1 2011 Summer, so could we expect another one for the Fall/Winter? Thanks for any info!
Well its about time to get a new letter or a new long post. We are running out of topic in this forum. We are just talking the same thing over and over again with different title. ^_^
For people that plays FFXI knows stnpc; JP players asked for it way back and also had thread going since April and it finally got a response.

YoshiP also responded to this one and it's just comment on above so will stick it here.
Thanks Reinheart :)

holy..... YoshiP just posted one long one... I'll post original while I translate/update
just incase i need more space for above post translation...
It seems at around 2am in japan, yoshi goes in berserker-post mode lol. I'm never tired to say thx Reiny. :)
Should be about power leveling if i am keeping up to date correctly.
done, didn't go over the 10k text limit... woo... now the mini YoshiP post translations...
meh need to finish up some work before i work on the other mini posts brb
So hes saying that PL wont be a big deal because the XP cap will remain at 10 levels above. That makes sense, but its also hindering strategy and innovation for SP parties since there is no benefit to challenging yourself on higher mobs beyond 10 ranks. I had always hoped that the 10rank cap would be removed, but it seems like its definitely staying there now.
Also, this does not address how this claiming system can be used for griefing (we need more details on how the hate table is going to work).
Yeah me too. I mean really who cares if people wants to PL friends or if people would like to be PL'ed by friends. It's up the the player's choice to decide if he wants to enjoy a slower but maybe more rewarding leveling curve or a fast leveling.
They want the game to be more end-game focused, although I liked the FFXI's way of taking very long to get to 75 with lots of content while getting there, most people like to be max level fast and do the end-game content. So why not? There are other ways to prevent RMT than not allowing PL.
To summarize, I think it's up to the player's choice to decide if they wish to have someone PL them or not.

Lvl 14-21 in 5 min with exp chain #110 - WOOT! LOL
Only problem with XI was, with the exception of CoP which forced level caps, if you weren't 75 you weren't welcomed to come along. That was my experience anyway.Quote:

I like that they're putting the decision in the hands of the player. It's the way it should be.
Plus, this allows them to focus on end game and to cater to the folks that have been here for a year.
All in all, it seems like they have the right way of thinking. There's no reason to make the game all about some arbitrary slow grind when they can spend their time designing fun, engagig and difficult encounters.
Yup I agree and I too like the way it's headed and the fact that it's the player's decision how they wish to level, I just had a little nostalgia of my old FFXI days a long time ago. For me though I thought there was a lot of things to do up to 75, and I wasn't put aside for any rank/cop/ToAU missions when I met the rank to do it.
But that is off-topic and was not really the point of my post ^^
After reading what Bay posted today... don't want anyone to get anyone in trouble (if anyone did) so I'll stop posting stuff from NA side on JP side for a bit... Like I said in other threads in the past, I'm pretty sure reps got the info and delivered to the dev team, just wish there was a way for players to know it got sent or thread got read, with all these threads I know it's going to be hell for the Reps + might cause some people to pop up and say my thread didn't get read by the reps, bump, bump, bump, bump... I'll just stick to posting JP rep responses in here. Kind of feel bad if I caused any problems for the translation i posted on the JP side.
Just to make sure what I post in here is just my translations, it's nothing officially translated and could have parts I miss-translated so I think should wait up till NA reps gets official info before going all out on some threads imo.
I know people are sick of the suggestions to take ideas from ffxi... but ffxi's exp cap system is really what this game needs. a soft cap on exp so without any bonuses a player can't get more than X amount of exp from a mob regardless of the mobs level. Groups of 8 may hit that cap on mobs 15-20 levels higher than they are, solo players might hit that cap on mobs 5-7 levels higher than they are.
Promote's challenging play for groups without seeming to penalize them, and slows down the rate of growth for powerleveling.
I'm not talking about stuff like that, you know like in a ticketing system where the tech support opens the question it will automatically change the status from unread to read. Just something like that is what I had in mind.
And yeah I know everything does get delivered or eventually delivered to the devs; just seeing something like that 1-50 thread or thread that has over 200+ likes and not even one note would get people anxious and want to know if it's really being delivered. For me personally I know (hope) it gets sent over so not really worried.

Hey Rein, is any of the other stuff Poekichi talked about important?

There is two more posts by him but it's him talking casual/off topic to the JP players responding to their posts cheering YoshiP and stuff. Nothing really game related but saying he will try his best to keep up with the communications and the long post is not decision made by him alone it was well discussed over several days debating with Matsui and Gondai and what he posted is the result they came up with.
I always just imagined that the mages had been able to create some magic shield around the cities to keep the weather elements out of the cities so the citizens were not bothered with it during their daily business. Ul'dah sure would have a lot of stores closed during sandstorms. I wouldn't want weather in the city itself, it causes lag issues while out in field for some people and the city being where most people craft and such I'm sure would appreciate it as lag free as possible.
I am the only one that sees sandstorms inside the city of Ul'dah? like 2 days ago, I zoned in the city while there was a sandstorm outside, and it kept going while I was inside (not between the walls but when I got in the city itself). it did not last long so maybe it was just until it loaded the "sunny" weather, but it was still going for a bit, while it wasn't as storng as it was outside, there was weather effect.
