So if I'm reading this all correctly, the thought is to make lower rank items easier to synth because they'll become the parts of higher rank items?
Makes sense to me, a very natural progression with future cap raises in mind

I wonder if they're actually angry at you, you seem to translate stuff sometimes even before they get into work. Makes them look like they aren't doing their job or something? Iunno, I'm probably reading way too far into it lol. Obviously I can see it as a huge help, free help at that. No incentive to hire you if you continue to do it for frees! lawls..ok im going to stop talking, talking nonsense now.
/sh (Crab Bow)+3 (Do you need it?) (Buy?) /tell ...?
Once I get in as translator, get closer connection with the devs and some how get into the development side :)
That too, if I become producer/director everyone is required to wear subligar
After taking the translation position test for SE I thought I did good but they hired professional which knew more about translation than game; but after doing these translations I know some of these stuff could be bit challenging. By skipping one word can change the whole translation and stuff so gotta be really careful. Pretty sure they go through couple proof reads unlike my post I just post as I go which is probably bad lol.
Well we very glad to have you.. ^_^ definitely you provide a lot help to us .. ^_^
To be brutally honest, I find most of your translations difficult to understand. :( Your Japanese is, I'm sure, far better than mine, but I still find a lot of odd word choices you've made that could be changed to read better in English. In localization, eloquence is just as important as actually understanding the languages.
Yep I agree some of the words I use doesn't fit, trying to learn them by seeing how Bay posts the official ones and remembering which words in Japanese got translated in the official ones. Some words I have to look it up on dictionaries and trying to fix it since the dictionary only gives the meaning of that word, when put into sentence it can be said in another word... gets me confusing lol, specially like that book interview translation was pain in the butt... kanji's look so damn alike was reading the kanji's wrong so had to use IME pad to write it on screen then look up the definition of that kanji lol.
One part I'm suffering also, grew up in Japan going through Japanese school and before I finish learning all the kanji's parents decided to move to Hawaii then I'm thrown in American school when I don't know 80% of English lol (you learn some in Japan, more in High School but didn't go that far when living in Japan)
I'll keep trying to get better :) hope you can guess the general idea of what I'm trying to explain till my translation improves
Reinheart's translations have been getting much much better. I have no complaint, as a translation from Japanese to English is not fun at all. I took the language 4 years in high school, and the combination of grammar + Kanji is killer. I appreciate all his efforts. Especially since many users, and perhaps Yoshida as well, are likely not using 'text book' language.
The translations might be raw, but they do not often add or subtract from the meaning of the original post/letter. :D
So for the Red colour, do they mean the tag on the armour piece itself (Iron Haub) or do they mean the colour of the item itself?
Frankly I'm not a huge fan of the idea of colour coded items telling us what it's good for. ): But everything else is A++
Edit: Ah I didn't see I missed one post, the main one. Thankfully not all parts are being destroyed! Rejoice!
And now Red Colourant makes me think of the Materia system. But since they haven't called it Materia, or even mentioned naming in process, red colourant might be a type of materia, or a new material all together to add certain stats in this case Red meaning adding stats to Defense, or parrying.
I don't mind this, it sounds really interesting. In which case, I hope that they do it in the way that stars are done, instead of in the way of red text. Red stars next to the stats they've impressed the colour upon.
Knowing a language is one thing. Being able to translate it is another. Being able to localize it is yet another thing again.
Figures of speech. Colloquialisms. These things are what are detested most by localizers - half the time because the original text is wrong and the other half of the time because the concept does not exist in the second language. Thus finding the meaning and conveying this using figures of speech in the second language while maintaining the meaning and intent can be quite the task.
And that's only getting into my appreciation for German/English. Japanese is a whole other ball-game.
The fact that Reinheart can do this is much is in and of itself incredible. Now imagine what Fernhawles and Eemeefu have to do...
These are really bad news i think. Its not only me but many people that wasted so much time in HQ crafting. Get abilities studing the elements for crafting and so on. Now with those changes HQ crafting is gonna be childish. I dont even know what to say im really dissapointed here. i would prefer some tips from SE to HQ crafting but as its above in this post HQ is gonna be piece of cake. You are telling me that i can HQ now with rapid if i have HQ mats. i wont even have to touch up? And what is gonna happen to my +3 gear that it took me months to make? And im proud that i made it on my own. And what about economy? A crab bow+3 how much is it 12m? after 1.20 how much its going to be 400k? I know my post is not no gonna change anything but i had to say what was in me. My opinion is just if SE wants to change crafting lower the number of mats on High Rank crafts or give some tips on HQ cause people think its random. Thats all
Well to me it's quite the opposite. Yes people spent time in trying to HQ, good for them. But to be fair everyone playing now must expect drastic changes so they should not complain when drastic changes were asked.
Also, all the better if it drops the prices of some HQ gears. Can you imagine the pain new players will have trying to get on par with other players if they can't afford anything as opposed to players who have been there for a year and gather lolgils like water?
To me it sounds like HQ1 is easy to get but the chance @ Hq 2 and 3 is gonna be harder
Then what you are saying is that there is gonna be no difference between the players. Let me put it this way. there are NQ players and there are +1,+2,+3 players. Now there gonna be all HQ. Thats what i dont like. Anyway im gonna sell all my +3 gear and keep anything +2. cause i think +3 is gonna be worthless in 2 months
12mil for a bow: thank goodness this patch is coming! No one should have to pay 12mil for a mid tier weapon (in the grand scheme 50 is the current cap only until it's increased in 1-2 years). If you ask me the economy is flooded with crafters who take a common practice and think too highly of themselves thus leading to beyond ridiculous item prices.
You're acting liking you crafted a Sha'ir Mantel or something or you crafted a kraken club!
Thank you SE for fixing the economy.
Completely agree with this. I've always thought the multi-tiered HQ system as currently implemented caused problems. Inventory is an obvious issue. The second being more subjective but still frustrating in my mind - players going crazy trying to get HQ+3 items that are ultimately just trivial pieces of gear synthed through extremely commonplace materials (see: Iron Cuirass, etc.). I'm a firm believer that having players trying to maximize their characters through incredibly mindless and unpredictable HQing systems is bad precedent. Now, players should be more predictably rewarded for collecting HQ materials. And, as an example, if you kill Uraeus for a tricorne, you won't have to do it ad nauseum to produce that +2 or +3 you were after.
Like many have mentioned, if people didn't see changes like this coming, they weren't playing the same game I was playing (or weren't critically assessing the flaws). I'm very excited for this change.
Nearly every server has a handful or more crafters with not only 50 in every craft, but also the guild abilities/traits as well.
The cold hard truth is that the people complaining about this patch were making out like Gil mongers from abusing the supply and demand.
Players bowed down to the asinine over inflated prices because there was nothing they could do about it since the crafters were monopolizing every facet of the market with their Gil greedy talons.
Now that SE is potentially balancing this issue, crafters are crying "unfair" because the control is swinging more towards the buyers choice.
There won't be +1 and +2 items is what I understand from the official translation from Bayohne. There will be NQ and HQ which is a lot better.
Plus, he did add that acquiring HQ items will be much harder, so yes the prices of HQ items might drop a bit but it will still be hard to get HQ items. All this do is a guarantied HQ if all you components are HQ.
You are largely overreacting. HQ items will still be very valuable because getting HQ mats will be harder according to Yoshi's post. And before you sell your +3 items, there will be no +1 and +2 items, it will be NQ or HQ and +2 might end up converted in NQ, so I'd stick with your +3 items if I were you.
I agree crafting HQ +3 gear is a retarded activity, the time spent to create an HQ +3 lvl 50 synth weapon is astronomical. To give a decent shot at a +3 you need all +3 (maybe some +2 mats) You need 300+ quality and then its still a 10%'ish chance (for weapons and certain gear) To get +3 mats like leather straps, ingots etc you have say 1% chance or less even with 300+ quality.
I have made over 100 banneret lances and have a total of 4 +2's and 1 +3. The time used in this process is easily in the hundreds of hours. (don't believe me see how long it takes to make 12 +3 brass plates).
I strongly think that the only reason we have these +3 goals is because we had nothing else to do in game for 6months strait. The adjustment of a simpler HQ system is very important, many players still have no idea what HQ means in this game or what a star means...
Highly doubt this statement, there are hundreds and hundreds of +1 items in circulation. Most likely is that +2/3 get combined into HQ and +1/nq => NQ
I'm not going to have a yard sale and dump all my +3 gear on the market but on the plus side my +2 gear should see a jump in value.
Doubt it, +1 will be NQ. They are just not sure about +2 if it will be NQ or HQ. They said they will need to look at the logs to see the number of +2 items in circulation.
Meaning, if there are a lot of +2 items around, they will most likely be NQ so that HQ items are rarer.
I know I don't lol I have absolutely no idea what a star do, I know the gear is better but I don't know to what extent. Also I agree that the current HQ random process is retarded. This new way to HQ items, where you are sure to HQ when all your mats are HQ makes a lot of sense, what will keep the value of those HQ items is that getting HQ mats will be a lot harder so it won't devalue the HQ items that much, it will just be less random.
Edit: I think that if people still want to discuss this, they should start a thread because all we are doing right now is drowning Reinheart's translation thread.
So I can walk up to someone today and say "Hey, can you give me that Crab Bow +3 for 50k gil right now? You know it's going to be trash in 3 years right? lolz"
uh huh...
You pay high prices for whatever is the best *today*, for the benefit of using it *today*, not based on what it will be later. It's not mid-tier gear in 2011.
So the changes that's going to happen are: [NQ>NQ|+1>NQ|+2>NQ|+3>HQ]?
Hey just a side note for Reinheart ^^your request for being able to strike texthas been implemented ^^
As long as we get a white box for HQs . . . thats really the most important thing.
