Small clue: People play with a controller. Do a full rotation on a controller while keeping the heals and target swapping in check.
DPS and Tanks dont need to worry about being on a controller and the rotation can be more or less complicated, you can macro the small bits but 99% of the fight you only target one thing: THE ENEMY.

As someone who has always played on controller, I still want a healer who has a hyper aggressive play style. That is my preferred play style: a healer that juggles offense and healing in tandem. Not every healer needs to play this way, but I would appreciate having just one. Thank you

Viper was tested by several media tour visitors and pretty much all of them said it was very fun to play. The job only has two melee role skills for self healing and it can't save others, but that was not an issue to any of the testers.

It literally wouldn't hurt anyone's enjoyment if healing skills were limited to healers, because other jobs already get their enjoyment from doing their primary role.

I still think it's okay for a handful to have heals. Dancer having Curing Waltz isn't bad, RDM having Vercure isn't bad, it's when there's enough heals from non-healers and low enough incoming damage that it becomes a problem.

Target swapping has nothing to do with a damage rotation, it's all just targeting the boss, it's literally oGCD heals that have you swap between allies and enemies rapidly, Dia being a 15s DoT or PoM being a 60s CD is irrelevant. In fact "but the controller players" directly conflicts with oGCDs being so abundant, surely you should be supporting a consolidation here so there's less target swapping.

Mentor roulette is just a hilarious example of intensive healing. A solid portion of the playerbase does not even have access to it so no, I haven't actually tried Mentor roulette, I physically cannot because I'm not a mentor.

The oGCD heals are only a concern because you're expected to continue your 1-2 button rotation while weaving oGCD heals.

And while the weaving can actually be fun, it just adds to the monotony of an extremely basic DPS rotation. oGCD heals also take away from the rest of your healing kit. Outside of hard content you rarely, if ever, use GCD heals since it takes away from DPS - to the point I don't even cast regen anymore because it's one less DPS action and it's not needed.

All that's being asked is a slightly more involved DPS rotation (while also requiring healers to heal). For WHM particularly having to intentionally dump lilies intended for healing because they're not needed, due to oGCD heals, just to squeeze out DPS makes no sense.

Yeah, no, mentor roulette and Savage absolutely do not provide that challenge. There's so many oGCDs I just keep hitting Glare and basically ignore damage, occasionally smacking a button between Glaring. It takes absolutely zero brain power. Also I appreciate you listed a whole three dungeons out of dozens. Woo. Three times healers get to have an okay-ish healing experience, like those pulls aren't ALSO dirt easy after the min ilvl, first time run through for everyone.

As much as I am on board you can't ask for healing to be made harder, more outgoing damage to be consistent, whilst also stripping away every other jobs self-healing buttons. Tanks should be stripped back to a degree, especially WAR, but taking away a melee DPS bloodbath + second wind for example, and leaving them with nothing will simply make them resent poor healer players. I've been in those dungeons where some healing is required, and by newer or bad healers, they are unable to keep up and the dungeon comes to a complete crawl and it takes 25-30mins to clear.

Giving DPS and tanks a few self-healing abilities is fine, it means in casual content they're able to slightly mitigate a poor healer and keep themselves up for a short period of time before (increased as we asked) outgoing damage would kill them. In higher end content those buttons do not really change anything anyway, but if damage were to be made stronger and harder in casual content, then you have to give them some small ability to self-heal otherwise the party is a house of cards built on the healers skill.

Which IIRC, was an issue with HW/SB era of healers were the divide between good and bad healers was enormous and SE wanted to bridge the gap so people weren't essentially punished by their awful healer.

I do kinda agree with this. I want to see healing on other classes nerfed, especially AOE, especially on tanks, but like, melees with second wind and bloodbath? Those aren't problematic, tbh.

Now. Now..let the "critic" players make a mountain out of a molehill in peace. Healers couldn't get it together before those dps roles got their heals...WAR was unplayable before getting op sustain...controllers mean no job can have more than a one button dps rotation! Duh

They're not problematic because they're on a long cooldown and can only essentially be used once or twice per dungeon boss fight to fix a mistake or heal a raid-wide. They should have agency over their own lives to an extent, just like how healers should have agency in being able to mitigate a poor tank's cooldown usage. A middle ground is best.

Correct. Cross class skills should always be this way. They should not perform at a level that makes entire roles unnecessary.

bloodbath in certain fights like DSR dragonking akhmorns or gigaflare is fantatsicc to simply help along from the intense damage coming out, or in rewind when the tank lb3 wears off and melees are a little raw , genuinally helpful skill there

also, bloodwhetting is not that impressive in harder single target fight content, its useful, but no where near op godlike as it is in dungeons (holmgang is a better virtue and selling point there) dungeons should not be what the game is balanced around, but i do believe dungeons should be made more intresting or a mythic system implemented, because healers are not unique in dungeons being boring as all hell, there made for quite literlaly the lowest common denominator as all dungeons are required for msq,

of which, a "healing strike" where ppl simply switch to a different role still wont do much, beause people will either switch to healer for a faster queue, or just do duty support,

As far as i can see, all metrics will say is people switching to a class that they find enjoyable and still giving them money,

Only if i could able to stop worrying about needing to perform perfectly in savage and ultimate on my first try when my constant fear towards to savage and ultimate started back in 3.0 when i tried do Alexander normal raids and i got lots of hate from experienced players for any of mistake i made.
I tried force my self through Alexander normal raids but when i got to Alexander - The Fist of the Son (normal) that was the time when i completely gave up even trying to progress to savage content and i decided that i will never try to do savage and ultimate content.

i feel that the there's some need for our old cross class system to make a come back. That system worked well enough at the time. some some varied modifactions to it, i think i could do well to help bring some life back to all classes & roles.

Is this where I pull out the "clearly you don't do Savage" argument? Because there have been so many "one person screws up and the party wipes" body checks lately that this just isn't the case anymore. I too love it when I get to save a disaster pull by running triage and dragging my team to the finish line kicking and screaming. Sadly, the encounter design has been moving away from it lately.

It didn't and claiming otherwise is being disingenuous. The video was more like the last straw for a lot of people (not me, my last straw was the AST lobotomy they are calling a rework). Furthermore, acting like they were some god gamers running the dungeon and so they could do it without a healer is also silly. They were repeatedly eating mechanics and the tank had to stop mid fight to find Nascent Flash and put it on his bars. And he was clicking all his buttons. Peak gameplay, right there.

This is something I would like to bring to the forefront regarding Warriors. It makes sense for them to self-heal and shrug off wounds really well, perhaps better than any other class, but their ability to heal others makes no sense in their lore. Their weakness should be a lack of support for others, since the core concept of their power is that it's almost entirely internal. Their only direct interaction with others when utilizing the inner beast is usually the Warrior beating them down, but just with more force and ferocious body language.

A tank healing others should probably be a Paladin's niche more than anything. I can even forgive Gunbreaker having some healing options for others, as in their lore they're gish bodyguards who used protective magick. Warriors healing others though is pretty damned dumb.

On a side note, it always interested me that the worst at sustain is the Dark Knight when in previous iterations of Final Fantasy they were full-on drain tanks.

Like xeno is a good player there is no doubt about that and dungeons shouldn’t be hard because they are story content but if you are going to run an alternate comp that basically removes the role that is designed as the party safety net and you can still mess up that badly and take that many vuln stacks there’s arguments to be made that the dungeons are too easy

Like I don’t want to block people from story progression but I’m reaching the point that I don’t physically understand how you can be that bad at the game to be challenged here, the NIN took 4 vuln stacks before they went down, how much less punishment can you physically ask for especially in a game that has dedicated support roles that are meant to alleviate this

We used to have theoretically infinite sustain through drains before it's rework. They took it away, and gave it to WAR. The difference back then is that you needed a pretty good Dark Knight to be able to balance the really high cost DA Abyssal Drains with the really high MP regen of blood weapon Quietus which were supplemented by blood from TBN breaks (or blood price if you wanted an easier, but slower method that could interrupted by holy spam). Like it took the entire kit, almost every skill in DRK's kit was needed to pull that off. Really high skill expression for dungeon content, honestly. If you screwed up, you wouldn't even have enough mana to use Unleash or turn on Grit. Risky, but satisfying, and really cool to watch.

Now WAR does that too, but it just presses Bloodwhetting and another CD if you're feeling like it and that's about it.

Vuln stacks honestly don't even work well as a punishment because the number you need to take before mechanics start one-shotting you tends to be really high.

What actually ends up killing people most of the time are mechanics where you can take multiple hits in quick succession unavoidable or otherwise.

When they took away Blood Price and made Abyssal Drain a 60 sec CD recast shared with Carve and Spit it was a sad day for Dark Knights.

And prior to that Dark Arts Dark Dance and Dark Arts Dark Passenger for Dodge Tanking.

Alternating between TBN and BP + AD in dungeons was the most fun DRK would ever be.

I am a Healer/Scholar main and I even used to do expert with my friends with no Healer, so this is not new to me at all. I didn't like it so I stopped playing with them.
At first I was with this strike but after a few days of watching some people here ask for the most ridiculous changes (which involve an entire rework or making a new job or role). I will not be participating in this strike.
Dawntrail is just around the corner so any changes will be minimal like potency changes or AoE Energy Drain(please), so be reasonable with your request to changes or look forward to 8.0(sorry joking).

I would rather see changes to the content instead, which I know people want more damage received. However I would love to see some returning gimmicks or new ones that involve more status effects.
Hit people with some paralyze, blind, or slows(recast time increase) when getting hit by orange, it won't kill them but it will annoy them/teach them a lesson to do mechanics.
Hit a random dps with a sleep so the healer has to Esuna them to rescue them from orange. I am sure even Bards will rejoice with these addition being able to use The "Warden's Paean" more.
Even Rocket punch from Gilgamesh is great, healer's had to full HP people to stop them from being confused.
It doesn't even need to be Esuna, like Amaurot had the bombs that hurt the DPS a lot or even the sprites that reduced healing.
All of these examples are great because it doesn't hinder the parties capability of completing the content, it only makes it take longer when someone is slack or didn't learn how Esuna works.

So fixing the jobs by launch is impossible (valid) but somehow fixing the encounter design is possible

We know they won’t fix everything by launch, we know near nothing is going to be fixed by launch, I have no idea why you thought otherwise

Don't be scared. Seriously. I was terrified of Savage as well but there are learning parties where people messing up is the norm. The only time people will get annoyed is if you join a farm party and constantly wipe the group, or lie about which point of the fight you've seen.

You don't need Discord or other platforms. PF groups are not on Discord most of the time and they clear. Sure, having callouts in VC helps, but it's not neccessary.

Agreed. There's a happy medium between "can help save the run in a pinch" and "can keep the party healed indefinitely". In my experience, DNC, RDM and DRK fall into the former category.

You know, it's funny, that time and time again we come back to "WAR is metawarping and is unhealthy for the state of the game".

At least in my personal experience, clearing a boss or even an Ally Raid when one healer is dead, or even both, is very rare. It will also significantly slow down the fight.

It is classed as harassment. Its a shame the a small minority of people seem to get their kicks by "excluding" other people from the game or dismissing their valid concerns outright simply because they would rather prefer to Ungabunga content.

We have vastly different experiences, then. I see a lot of near-wipes on the usual ally raid suspects. Dun Scaith, Weeping City of Mhach, Ivalice raid series. We always pull through though.

The only reasons people are against this strike is because you're scared of long queue times because you don't play the bad role.

Because it's a little bit faster to do with other players instead of duty support and half the casual players don't know how to do unsync
